Pros
1
Excellent legal representation and guidance provided by the firm's attorneys and staff
“The team at Jorgensen, Brownell and Pepin was excellent to work with. Having never gone through a legal concern before and not knowing the process, they were great about helping us to understand each step and what to expect and how best to prepare and respond.”
2
Responsive, knowledgeable, and personable attorneys who care about their clients
“John Konz has been very sympathetic and accommodated to this situation. He has made this a team effort between him and I. We have both been extremely frustrated. Either way he keeps me motivated and gives me hope!!”
3
Successful case outcomes and client satisfaction
“Matt Crowther went out of his way to explain the various facets of my situation regarding bodily injury, property damage and insurance considerations. Although it became clear that my case probably would not warrant his firm's services, Matt was sure to give me a complete picture of what I was dealing with, and pointed me in the right direction towards recovery options.”
4
Effective communication and transparency throughout the legal process
“Rebecca was great at walking me through everything. I needed a lot of explanations and hand holding and she was great at both!”
5
Trustworthy and reliable legal services
“Matthew Crowther has handled many legal matters for my wife and I over the years, and has always done an excellent job. Hands down he is the best personal injury attorney in Colorado.”
Cons
1
Concerns about billing practices and unexpected costs
“I was a bit disappointed in the fact that I was given a number to start for a possible settlement and that number changed dramatically from the ending number.”
2
Lengthy legal processes and delays in resolving cases
“We have been battling for the last eight months and we are still not done.”
3
Allegations of unethical behavior and misconduct by an attorney
“Violating her duty as an attorney (Colorado Codes of Professional Conduct Rules 1.12, 1.13 ..1.13(d), 1.15, 2.3, 2.4, 3.1, 4.4, 5.1, 5.5, 5.7, 7.1, 7.4, 8.2) and by committing acts of moral turpitude, dishonestly and corruption of justice.”

A year ago this month I needed legal representation. I picked JBP P.C. out of the phone book , because it was close to me. My guardian angel was sitting on my shoulder when I made this choice. I couldn’t have chosen a better law firm. From the first day we talked they told me what was going to happen and what to expect. Tracy kept me informed about everything that was happening, and I was never wondering what was going on right to the end. We just got closure on my case , I couldn’t be more pleased. Tracy is a wonderful person who I feel I got close to. If ever I need any legal help, l will not hesitate to contact JBP again !!!!! Sincerely BooneSchutt 😃

I am pleased to write this exceptional review to highly recommend attorney Matt Crowther and his very capable law firm, JBP Legal in Longmont, Colorado, for anyone dealing with personal injury issues. After a February 2023 vehicle collision left my wife seeking compensation from the negligent driver, their team provided outstanding support and guidance throughout the entire process. Their expertise and dedication to our case was apparent from the onset, making the process much less stressful and holding the other side accountable for their actions (the other driver tried to flee the scene but was ultimately caught). Big insurance companies prey on unrepresented victims, so it was important that we also have aggressive legal representation. JBP truly stands out as the best law firm in the area for personal injury claims. We extend our sincere thanks to attorney Matt Crowther and JBP Legal, as we received the compensation we deserved (both from the property damage and the personal injury claims), and my wife is on her way to recovery. If you are looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate personal injury lawyer, look no further than Matt Crowther and JBP Legal – we are forever grateful for their successful resolution of this matter.

After suffering a devastating defeat in court fighting the usurious, yet unfortunately successful, claim made by unscrupulous debt collectors, and having recently lost my employment, I can only describe to you a cold pit of despair in my stomach and a grey, uncertain future. After defending myself "Pro Se"... with predictable results, obviously effective counsel was required. For any person of interrupted means, or a person in need of relief from an egregious or abusive debt-burden, please recognize that there are still very good lawyers out there who can plot a path forward. Bill Zurinskas is one of the good ones. Here's how I know... because what I wanted was the assistance of experienced council to utilize my "once-per-eight-year" ability to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, in this way to remove the pressure of this recent, burdensome judgement. When I called the law-office of "Bill Zurinskas. Bankruptcy Attorney," Mr. Zurinaskas personally answered my call. When i, in a shaky voice, informed him that I needed assistance with Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, he was immediately willing to listen. This Human touch, after dealing with so many chat-bots, immediately put me at ease. After I stated my needs, Mr. Zurinskas then asked me a series of very relevant questions to establish the basic circumstances of my potential filing. After questioning and consideration, he had the integrity to inform me of a number of potential reasons why declaring .Chapter 7 Bankruptcy might be not be the best option, given its very limited conditions of use, and given that the unpredictability of the future that might require more urgent need. We had a small dialogue about potential alternatives and a path forward. Professionalism, Obvious Experience, Humanity, and Excellent Communications Skills were the impressions that I was left with after our telephone conversation ended. Thus, if you... personally... the reader of this review... are looking for a great recommendation for a Bankruptcy Attorney who-- at least in the humble opinion of this observer-- has completely justified his excellent reviews, and excellent reputation, Mr. Zurinskas should be the call you make. I made the call, and I'm here to tell you that over the course of our telephone conversation, I felt completely assured and convinced that Mr. Zurinskas was exactly the advocate... and guide through the process that I personally required. Thank you.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Longmont, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
