Peter Weber is a great lawyer, who has been doing law for over a decade. He is very effective and was very appreciated by the court judge in Garfield County, CO. He is very short and sweet in the courtroom and I would recommend him for anyone who is seeking help with any criminal defense.

I knew at the end of our consultation that I was going to hire him. I needed to get a will, POA, and Medical directive. But most important to me was setting up a Special Needs Trust for my 42 year old disabled daughter. Chris helped me to accomplish everything. He listened to what I was saying and gave me options when I needed them. (I USED MOST OF HIS SUGGESTIONS). I feel very lucky to have found someone knowledgeable of the law, who was kind, understanding, professional, and a good listener. I would recommend him highly.

We called Althaus law for reviewing and possibly correctly our wills, POAs and Medial Directives. Associate in the firm, Chris Gaddis was closest and most available to us. He graciously reviewed the paperwork we had from the past, ably pointed out things we needed to do, and walked us through theprocess. He was extremely helpful, professionally astute, and we had very speedy responses to all of our questions. We recommend him without reservation.

Having a sound, accurate and legally correct will is a gift of peace of mind that we can leave to those we love. Chris Gaddis provided me with those things. I especially appreciated the fact that he made me aware of options but there was no pressure to select any particular option. He answered my questions with skill and great knowledge of the law. He did what he said he would do when he said he would do it—what a rare and amazing thing in our world! Finally, he is a genuine and compassionate person.. I would highly recommend him.

I was fortunate to work with Michael when I was lost on what to do in a custody case. He was understanding, knowledgeable, and honest since the very first phone call. He discussed every step about how the proceeding will go and what to expect. More than that, Michael made me feel comfortable and displayed admirable integrity. I couldn't be happier with the results procured from my case. To whoever is reading this review, place your faith in Michael.

We hired Michael Grills to represent us in our case involving our family dog who was attacked and killed by a pitbull. Mr. Grills took the utmost care in the handling of our case. He was very compassionate and thorough. He definitely went above and beyond to help us get justice for our beloved family dog whom we miss dearly. We consider Mr. Grills our attorney and our friend.

I intended to write this review a while back, but have been busy. My case was hopeless. My ex had my son. I couldnt afford to live in Colorado. Somehow he made it possible with a CFI and I gained temporary primary parenting time. I dont know where we would be without Mr. Grills. Though my son and I have needed counseling to get through the circumstances for the thigs that happened. It would be far worse wih Michael. My family is forever indebted to him. The amount it cost to hire him is more than worth it.

Alex is kind, compassionate and excels at helping people win genuine claims. He won my Disability case & surprised me a few years later winning my No-fault Auto Injury case even without a trial. The last case won during all the difficulties that the COVID pandemic presented!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Northglenn, Colorado?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
