Taking care of an elderly parent can present some major challenges. As they get older, the decisions one must make get tougher and tougher.
That is why you need an attorney who is forward thinking with knowledge of potential issues before they arise. It is so much better to be proactive - rather than have to be reactive as life situations change.
Lyn Eliovson is just that type of attorney. She advises you of potential issues that will need to be addressed as your parent ages. Whether is be creating a straightforward Power of Attorney document or handling complex Trust issues, she is there to advise you on the correct course of action for the present time and into the future.
Lyn's pleasant personality is an added plus; helping you navigate through these often complex situations.
Anyone using her services will get the resources of an accomplished attorney with a heart.

Several main problems that I can go through in detail by memory.
My first impression was of her berating a young intern or employee to the point of tears in public. Then I learned it wasn't just employees, it was clients. Eldercare clients. Then I learned it included me, an eldercare client paying $600.00 hour for a snapping turtle. Every time she snapped, I took it, though t about it and said to myself I have no idea what caused that. At the third meeting she did it again to someone else and I said "Wait a minute, you are not a criminal lawyer, we are not criiminals. We are also also not rich and no more of this at your $600 an hour What kind of eldercare attorney talks to their eldercare clients?
She replied dismissively that technically my 90 year old mother was her client.
Now just think about that for a minute and see if you can think of a worse possible reply in a courtroom. She's basically saying my 90 year old mother is safe from her barbs but that the children attempting to pay for it are fare game. Not at $600 an hour were not! Recently asked for a simple line item accounting of meetings held and was informed by an employee after consulting with her that the "file had been shred", Why don't you give me a call because you've been too afraid to talk to me.
On the other hand she gives pleasant little radio talks. No problems whatsoever with the staff. And the infamous weakness of a snapping turtle is a weak underbelly.......

I had questions about pricing and a few other things. I was transferred to Lina Eliovson. We talked for a short while and she said, "We are probably not the law firm for you....good bye." Wow! I am kind of shocked and now wondering if these reviews are just fake because so many are so very high. How does she know we aren't interested in elder care. She made assumptions about what we were looking for. I felt like she was just waiting to get off the phone. She was curt and nominally polite...but NOTHING like the warm way in which the company was described in these reviews. She just about hung up on me. We are living in a bizarre world. I can only imagine that they just want to milk their clients for a lot of money and if they feel they are talking to someone who has a brain or has ANY questions whatsoever...it's not a client that they are willing to have.

My dad was self managing and even though my parents where getting older neither my brother nor I ever thought the day would come when we would have to manage their affairs and take care of them. They were always very private and we found no reason to intrude.
We met with Lyn Eliovson and realized that there were options we never even considered. She helped my parents understand the importance of updating their powers of attorney and living wills and addressed how important it was to plan in advance for their care.
If it had not been for Lyn, when my mother's memory started to fail and my dads physical health declined we would all have been at a loss.
She opened our eyes to the necessity of elder law planning and as we now face placement issues she continues to be available with efficient, knowledgeable, focused, reliable, legal and financial advice.
I would highly recommend Lyn to anyone looking for an elder law attorney.

My 95 year old mother was living independently in NYC when she fell and broke her ankle. I knew that we now needed to deal with not only her recovery but also the task of finding appropriate care.
Engaging Lyn was by far the best decision I have ever made. She is extremely knowledgeable and guided me through the whole process from finding a suitable nursing facility to handling mom's Medicaid application. During our first meeting she took the time to patiently explain all of my options as well as what were her recommendations. I never felt pressured, in fact during the whole process Lyn described everything in terms that were easily understood.
Lyn has an excellent command of all the issues I was facing in arranging for my mother's care. She has made sure to "cross every t and dot every i" which has given me and my family a tremendous piece of mind. I would highly recommend Lyn to anyone who is facing the task of how best to care for their elderly parents.

When my 67 year old husband was suddenly stricken with a debilitating stroke, I was only aware of the emotional impact. I had no idea of the underlying threat of losing absolutely everything for which we had ever worked or saved. Fortunately, a close family friend, (a lawyer himself) advised me to specifically get an Elder Care attorney. He said, "you will need the very best you can get and Lyn Eliovson is the best one I know."
He was right, Lyn and her partner Christine Tenore were precise, efficient, knowledgeable experts who turned in a clean, complete, flawless application for Medicaid, which was quickly accepted, for my husband's necessary long term care.
As impressed as I am with the work that they did for us, it cannot outshine their treatment of my husband and myself. They were kind and patient with a compassionate understanding of the stress and sorrow of our situation.
You may be wondering about the cost of such an excellent firm. Well, let me put it in perspective. The cost of these attorneys would have barely covered six weeks of my having to privately pay for nursing home care. One year of nursing home care and medical expenses would cost me our home and all of our savings.

Linda deserves ten stars for guiding my way thorough the care of my elderly parents. As an out of state POA, I needed a lot of information and Linda very clearly explained Connecticut laws regarding Medicare/medicaid and long term elder care.
Through her advice I was able to obtain 24 hour home care for my father and then get both parents transferred to a long term facility under Medicaid. Linda drafted documents for my parents and personally delivered them for signing. Linda is premier elder law council in Fairfield County and I was fortunate that she was able to help so much. I highly Linda Eliovsons' counsel in matters of elder law.

We had a wonderful experience with Atty. Linda Eliovson recently. We sought her out for a very difficult case with my Mom who had been refused Medicaid. There were also extenuating circumstances. Our former attorney was not able to handle the case. Atty. Eliovson and her firm took on our case and were hopeful that they would succeed in obtaining Medicaid for my Mom. They worked tirelessly and we worked along with them. We felt involved and updated and Atty. Eliovson was very direct and organized with what was our responsibility. She always explained everything to us thoroughly and we were amazed at her expertise with elder law. Even though we were dealing with a very serious issue, Atty. Eliovson brought a lightness to our meetings together. She is a dedicated woman and obviously loves what she does. She has a moral compass and wants to do what is right in the framework of the law. The entire staff was very supportive and their hospitality always made us feel very welcome. The best thing is that my Mom is now on Medicaid!

I have the utmost respect for Lyn. I had an extremely complex problem with my estate because of a husband who had late stage Alzheimers. What I was facing was daunting! She was so knowledgeable with the processes of his care and final placement in AARC. Her expertise with what I had to do with my assets in order for me to apply for Medicaid and be approved was exceptional.
She was very through in explaining everything! I could think of NO ONE else I would wish to work.

Lyn and her staff have been our legal team for the past year, obtaining conservatorship for me of my mother through the Probate Court and assisting with nursing home placement when it became necessary. She and her staff are very competent, knowledgeable, and prompt to respond to any issue. I recommend her highly.
