I was very nervous, actually quite terrified and shaking, when I first made a call to Neil Crane's office. It was May 2020, and after struggling to pay down my debt for 10+ years, the pandemic finally put me over the edge when my husband was laid off from his job and he was no longer able to assist me financially with my debts, and I was now responsible for 100% of our joint expenses. I had spent so many years already crying when I would go to pay my bills, because there was never any money left over, and no end in sight. I would always pay far more than the minimum on my bills, hoping to get everything paid off sooner, but everything still piled up despite my absolute best efforts. One call to Attorney Crane's office, and I felt a massive weight lifted off my shoulders. Attorney Crane was understanding, easy to talk to, explained everything I needed to know and laid out my options. Everything he said made sense, and instead of feeling continued dread over an impending bankruptcy, I actually started feeling relief and excitement that this burden and nightmare I had been living with, which finally came to a head, would soon be over with. There was finally a light at the end of the tunnel. I felt very informed, safe, calm and comfortable in the hands of Attorney Crane's office. They let me know what was needed from me, and the next steps in the process, and my debts (minus student loans of course) were successfully discharged. Everything feels much more manageable and I am much less stressed than I used to be. I would actually recommend this process highly to anyone else who has been struggling like I had been. Don't blame yourself. You do not need to keep struggling, there is help, and it feels so good to not carry such a burden around anymore day after day, never having any money for yourself. With my debts discharged, I can actually start considering saving money for a down-payment on a house in the future. I can consider putting money into a "rainy day" fund. It is so nice to finally feel like when payday comes around, I actually have money. Just give Attorney Crane's office a call, and discuss your options. After being pummeled by the surprise of 3 stents, leading to a cross-country move for a job that was promised, but did not exist, being denied for short-term disability, finally finding a terrific position which was going well, and having everything shut down by Covid-19! (probably the best run-on sentence I've ever composed) Then, getting furloughed, and not getting unemployment (9 weeks to date) due to the overload in the CT and CA Unemployment Depts....I was out of money and out of options. Neil was very intent on determining that bankruptcy was indeed my only option, and also put me through the 2 mandatory counseling 3rd party courses. Once it was clear that this was my only option, Neil's great team stepped in. I have to say I was astounded that my calls were actually taken and.or returned promptly, and my questions were answered clearly and action items were executed promptly and courteously. They sent me a well organized checklist of what they needed from me, which I promptly responded to. They filed my case promptly, keeping me up-to-date. My meeting of creditors' hearing was quickly scheduled, and was quickly handled, thanks to all of the preparation Neil and his staff had requested. I may not have any money or credit, but someday my company will bring me back in, and eventually my unemployment filings will be paid. A great burden has been lifted.
