Ridiculous is the first word to comes to mind how can someone take peoples money and not do a single thing on their case. I have tried to be cordial with this man but he does not respond to clients at all. My family have to take trips to his office regularly just to see him he doesn't answer calls, emails or texts unless it’s from an unknown number. Super unprofessional, inexperienced quite rude I might add it was a terrible experience working this man and I hope no one makes the same mistake as me and my family it has taken him over 6 months to speaks with client. And that’s not even the half of it please for your sakes do not pick Robert

Whatever your case, you should run it by Atty. Pickering. He is an accomplished Criminal Defense Lawyer! I was faced with a restraining order. Allegations were made that although not true if they had not been confronted by Atty. Pickering, the end result could have had adverse consequences. Atty. Pickering studied my case and into Court we went. Atty. Pickering is polite, engaging and friendly, however when the hearing began he was all business. His cross examination skills are unmatched, the questions that he asked of the complainant forced the truth to come out. The end result, the complainant's credibility was destroyed. Atty. Pickering was relentless in the pursuit of justice. Atty. Pickering will defend you zealously, aggressively and rightfully!! Atty. Pickering is a staunch Courtroom Advocate. You need to look no further than Atty. Pickering as he has more than what it takes to represent your legal matters, Court hearing or Trial!! You need Attorney Robert Pickering to be your Courtroom Advocate.

Attorney Pickering is a fun but no nonsense attorney. He will tell you what he can do for you and live up to it. My wife and I were facing multiple felony charges and DCF involvement. Attorney Pickering represented us with the utmost professionalism and understanding while being firm in what we could expect in this challenging case. Robert navigated the complex and completely bureaucratic bullshit that is DCF with the help of an additional attorney we secured that specialized in DCF/Children cases. Robert was available to us in a time when our lives were completely destroyed. Our children were taken from our home, loss of job, we were at an all time low and needed a lawyer, Robert answered the call and guided us for over 2 years. At the end of our case both criminal and DCF juvenile, were had our freedom and our children back. When you’ve been at your worst Attorney Pickering will be at his best. There’s a good, calm feeling that happens over you when the attorney representing you knows everyone in the courts and the Marshalls. I can only surmise that any bad reviews on here are by people that had unrealistic expectations having done very bad things and looking to get off “ scott free”. Hire Attorney Pickering.

Attonery Pickering has been my Defense counsel for 10yrs+, Ive always thought he had my best intrest at heart his only defense for me has been to side with the state and or govenment. And the argument he poses for that is he doesnt want to roll the dice. Every level or chain of law enforcement will always have a high conviction rate if we as people keep hiring more if not all of the Robert Pickerings to defend use. When I hired him it was for him to defend me not to sattle. Thanks for nothing Pick, my life is in shambles

When I was younger I got into a LOT of trouble. Attorney Nawrocki was always there for me when I needed her to get me out of trouble or to at least get me in less trouble than I would have been in without her. I first met her when she was appointed to my case as a special public defender but she was really smart, caring and compassionate so I hired her twice more when I got in trouble again (I had REALLY bad judgement when I was young) and she always did a great job for me and she let me make a payment plan because I was very broke

Finding a Lawyer that is Trustworthy,Knowledgeable,Responsive, and that is genuinely concerned in Her Clients WellBeing. I Can tell you that finding all those qualities in one lawyer is"Like Winning the Lottery" Before Finding Atty.Nawrocki, I Consulted a Dozen other Lawyers, most of them made me feel that they were doing me a favor, and did not answer my questions or gave me incomplete answers, I Felt as though I was being looked at not as a felow human being, but rather i was being Summed up as a Dollar figure, I Felt like my time was just being waisted. Then I Found a Fellow Human Being That was a Smart Lawyer at the Law Firm of Susan A Nawrocki. I Realy can not say enough about Atty Nawrocki, Except if you want to have an Experienced,Knowledgeable Lawyer, that will treat you with the Utmost Genuine Concern and Respect. Then you need to look know further.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Hartford, Connecticut?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
