While Linda has a plethora of outstanding strengths, I valued Linda’s patience and her ability to keep me grounded and big picture based. Linda understands the intricacies and varying stages of emotions that accompany anyone who has a marriage that is ending. Linda was able to appropriately determine the best way to guide me at each phase of process. Linda approached every interaction professionally and with a prompt and consise communication style. While I would have preferred not have have needed Linda’s services, I could not have made a better choice in retaining Linda to represent me.

After 28 months and two lawyers representing me in a complex divorce, Linda, as my third lawyer, finally settled my case in nineteen days. She is nothing but hard working, compassionate, ethical and smart. I had more communication with Linda than either of my past two lawyers combined. She really cared about bringing my divorce to a close after so little being accomplished after so much time. She was empathetic and at the same time worked us through all the details that had to be handled. She explained all legal aspects to me and her reasoning always made sense. She is incredibly skilled and experienced. As indicated here but I have to say again- Linda TRULY CARES about her clients and cases. She will go all out for you to get you your best deal. Thanks to Linda, I can finally move on and feel at peace.

Linda is an incredible divorce attorney. She educated me with options every step of the way and steered me to one that led to the best outcomes. When she sensed I was in distress, she responded to my texts and took my calls on odd hours and weekends, helping me through me through those stressful times. While she cared for the emotional side of the matter, her conversations allowed for me to see things objectively and make tough decisions needed at the time. She is extremely professional and service her clients like no large fancy law firms ever can. She is honest, direct, smart, intelligent and very detailed oriented, combined with her years of experience and knowledge she has this unique ability to think two steps ahead and counter arguments that yields favorable responses. All in all, She helped me “win” in a very complex yearlong battle with my ex and save me well in six figures. I have since relocated to another state and I still call her for coaching and guidance on legal matters. Anyone getting into divorce, look no further and retain Linda for best representation you could get in any divorce matter.

I found Linda to be extremely professional, knowledgeable , conscientious and attentive. But more importantly I found her to be friendly, honest, genuine , caring, compassionate, easily accessible and a pleasure to work with. She prepared and informed me of everything to expect during the entire time we worked together and also on my court date. I always felt “ She had my back” and was looking out for my best. After almost two decades of providing exemplary service to a “best place to work” firm, my career was suddenly over. On the recommendation of a friend and former colleague, I contacted Attorney Nina Pirrotti about my predicament. Nina listened to me describe my work history and current stressful situation and quickly developed a plan of action. Nina set the proper expectations and went on her way to represent me. Throughout her representation of me, Nina was always in communication with me and provided excellent advice in evaluating my alternatives.. Her work got me the satisfaction I wanted to receive from my former employer. Nina helped me get through a difficult time in my work life. I recommend her highly!

Nina Pirrotti, Went above and beyond what I think she had to do. I'm still not out of the woods in my situation, But she lead me in the right direction. My situation was very complicated and she took the time to figure it out. I will say that the lawyer's system is a little slow to get started with filling out paperwork, But once you pass that hump, It's well worth it. I felt like she wanted to do what was best for me and not just what's best for the law firm. If you're in an unfortunate situation where you need a lawyer, at least get a lawyer that cares.....

Where do l start??? Nina is incredible. After a very difficult and painful journey regarding a civil matter, Nina demonstrated extreme professionalism and expertise. Her committment and tenacity was unmatched by anyone. She was accessible, diligent, organize and very supportive every step of the way. Her willingness to “fight the fight” made me feel like I mattered at a very traumatic time. Nina has made a tremendous impact both personally and societally. To say that Nina is ‘just an attorney’ doesn’t reflect what she really is...a great fighter and friend.

I had never been arrested or needed a criminal attorney before, so I had no idea who to call. I was recommended to the Duffy Law Group by a trusted friend. Who is a man of integrity and honesty. I trusted his advice, spoke with Felice Duffy and then met with Attorney Smith. He was great to work with; very professional, helpful and down -to -earth. He walked with me through this whole ordeal. I am so pleased with Attorney Smith and this firm. The charges against me, were greatly reduced. I highly recommend them.

Felice and her team at Duffy Law are some of the best lawyers in CT. I had really struggled to find the right attorney to represent me in my battle with a CT university. When I met Felice, I knew I had the right person. Her ability to understand and advocate for her clients is so powerful. I would recommend her to anyone dealing with discrimination in education.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of New Haven, Connecticut?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
