Absolutely awful!! He represented me in a Criminal case & he had no idea what he was doing. He kept saying "I don't know" to a lot to my questions. I was viciously assaulted by my psycho neighbor Taylor Mills and incurred $6,500 in medical bills ($450 with my insurance). We BOTH got AR with 1 month probation AND she didn't pay restitution for my bills. She submitted BOGUS "root canal" bills to get out of paying mine. She must have screwed her attorney to get such a sweet deal. Furthermore the communication was really poor. Smith was really disorganized and kept changing the court dates. It took SIX months to finally end it but it could have taken a lot less!! I am confident that if I had a different attorney the outcome would have been much FAVORABLE for me.

The entire GraberRoberts firm is very focused and thorough in its preparation for all aspects of a difficult legal controversy. Highly competent lead counsel(Howard Graber) is supported by a very professional team of caring individuals. The results speak for themselves. They achieved a legal result for me that I though was almost unachievable. Thank you GraberRoberts

"I am an experienced paramedic, with awards and decorations, with over 20 years of experience. Recently I was terminated from my empowerment through no fault of my own. I had applied for unemployment compensation and was denied. I reached out to Attorney Lasko . After a through and extensive consultation with Attorney Lasko, where he was able to analyze my termination and give me a firm understanding of what my legal rights were as to wrongful termination and unemployment benefits, I retained Attorney Lasko. Attorney Lasko was able to put together an highly effective letter that was sent to my former employer which resulted in my re-employment and the winning of unemployment benefits in the appeal process that covering unemployment benefits for the time I was out of work.. Although it is Attorney Lasko’s policy not to guarantee results, the results he obtained for me through keen insight, quick action, and years of tempered experience as he negotiated with my former employer were beyond any expectation I may have had. Results speak and Attorney Lasko delivered! I recommend Attorney Lasko without reservation! Eric Fortmann, EMTP

Attorney Lasko was one of three attorneys referred to me by Outten & Golden. I hired Attorney Lasko, because he was prompt and proactive. He helped devise an exit strategy from my former employer, then navigate through the separation, which was done so amicably. Moreover, I was able to successfully secure the maximum severance package allowable from my former employer on the terms that I desired. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I have able to remain on good terms with my former employer. This was a win-win situation. I highly recommend Attorney Lasko.

Attorney Richard cares deeply about not just his client, but justice. Richard put so much effort into my case, learning every detail and putting his all in it from beginning to end. I was very pleased by his performance in court. I just wanted to say he’s an amazing and knowledgeable Attorney and if you want to win, hire him. You won’t regret it. I wish every Attorney was like him. Keep the great work Richard !

I got to know attorney Rapice when i was searching online for legal help for a tenant landlord case. When I called him, he was super attentive and spent so much time to hear my case, he then provided me with the most honest evaluation of my case. He was extremely professional and went out of his way to help me settle the case with the defendant. He had numerous phone calls with the defendant's lawyers and could successfully negotiate a settlement at a much higher value than I expected. The best thing about him is that he is not there to waste your time or drag your case through court, he is here to HELP YOU! I'm so glad with him and wother him and highly recommend that you speak with him before hiring any other attorney.

Richard reached out to me as soon as I posted my question and asked that I call him for assistance. He was able to provide me with as much as guidance as possible. Richard successfully put my mind at ease after providing me with a few different options and paths I could take. Although he was unable to represent us due to the distance he provided me with potential attorneys that could assist me in my situation. Richard was still reaching out days after he gave me another attorney's number to confirm we have been receiving assistance through that other avenue! I am very pleased with his concern and empathy.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Stamford, Connecticut?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
