I'm sorry , but I did not like the receptionist who I spoke to on the phone, she did not want to give any information until I had a court date. I told her we were in the process and she still did not want to give me any information about his schedule. I finally said, I need to know if he is booked far out because if your asking me to call tomorrow and he's booked out far, then it was a waste of time calling you back, that's when she said lawyer is available mid November. All of that could of been avoided if she actually took the time to see if I needed the lawyer sooner rather than later.

Sean is top notch! Not only does he continuously go out of his way in the community to help keep Dover safe and thriving, he also supports local businesses, and education staff. Sean has always been compassionate, professional, and maintains a pit bull mentality when fighting for what is right. He is a top tier lawyer who means business.

I’ve written many 5 star reviews on products and services in the past but this one is exceptionally personal to me. Not just because of my situation or Mr.Lynns abilities, but because of who he is as a person. I truely feel with every fiber in my body that I cannot and will not ever be able to come up with the words need to describe or thank him properly. I live just over an hour away from his office and came across him through searching reviews to find an attorney about 10yrs ago, and I have to say it ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I don’t personally think I’ve ever met someone like Sean. He is one of the most genuine, conscientious people ive ever had the pleasure of knowing. He is truly a one of those rare “shirt off his back” type of person. When you hire sean youre not just getting a lawyer to represent you, youre getting someone who will give you everything he has. He has a passion for his craft like no other, as well as a great compassion for his clients. Sean’s knowledge of the law is uncanny and beyond impressive. Not only did he care about me and my situation but he also emphasized with my family and what they were also going through. He’s always been there for me when I needed him no matter how insanely busy his office was. He communicated with me at all hours. Sorry for texting you so much Sean, and kept me informed with a proper understanding of my case and what to expect, however you may have to google some of the words he throws at you sometimes lol. His courtroom etiquette, composure, presentation is absolutely amazing to watch. I have actually received many compliments about Sean as an individual and an attorney from my family members and others involved in my case who have had the pleasure of meeting him. Most of them have saved his number for that rainy day. If anyone is ever in the need of legal council for family, criminal, business or civil matter they would be crazy not to hire him. He even came into the office on a holiday to sit with me and prep for the case. He is extraordinarily thorough and did an incredible job prepping for trial. He found stuff that the opposing attorney completely looked past. Sean even followed up with me after the trial just to ask how I was doing and make sure I was happy. Sean’s staff is also excellent right down to poor Igor still working at 9pm the night before my trial making sure everything is in order. Sean, I can’t thank you enough, you have give my daughter a life I will never be able to repay. My family and I are forever grateful for you and the day you decided to become an attorney.

Ben handled a car accident case for my wife and I. She was rear-ended by a texting driver and was injured pretty bad. Ben took the time to meet with us several times throughout the case and resolved it successfully. The insurance company for the young lady who was texting tried to deny liability, but Ben set the straight and won our case.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Dover, Delaware?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
