I am so thankful to have Al Clarke and his firm take my case in these extremely difficult times. On top of Al’s demonstrated compassion, dedication, and grit, ultimately his creativity resulted in an effective avenue to resolve my claim. While Al and his team are completely professional, they somehow also made me feel like I was part of their family, and this case was personal to them, as they relentlessly pursued the offending party until my matter was resolved. I truly don’t know where I would be right now without Al Clarke and his firm.

He started off with a big smile and hello to me and my granddaughter. he came to my home. He gave me a second chance when it came to my broken heart. I was so broken and he listen to my every word. even when I was fussing and yelling at him. Alfred Clark became my dear friend I will never forget him. Everytime I was having a bad day. Al listen and listen some more. I knew the day I told him I wasnt happy about things and all he did was listen and before he always gave me a answer he always concerned my feeling. he got to know me and Noraye as a person and not a just a client. I will if anyone even have as problem as I have had. I will refer them to call Alfred Clark and his firm. I was very satified with the out come of my case. I will never ever forget. When things was hard he reached out for assist to make sure I was happy and always return my phone call. The Patrick Malone Firm in Washington DC should be # one for any person seeking Attorney assistance. They was there for me 100% They travel to my home and always gave me there full attention I was a very hard person to deal with because I lost my only child but the took my case and gave me one again 100% of there time. I thank them all from the buttom of my heart. Thank you Alfred and Patrick Assist.

I feel truly blessed to have worked with an esteemed lawyer like Al Clark. He handled my legal case with a sensitive and professional attitude. He is appropriately aggressive and knowledgeable. I placed my trust in him and would again without hesitation. Al admitted to not having much experience with cases involving the government/military, but he did the research needed for a more than successful outcome. I would highly recommend hiring him as an attorney..

I highly recommend Patrick Malone & Assoc for any legal issues you may have. I dealt directly with Al Clarke and he was professional, appropriately aggressive on my behalf, and attentive to my case. Importantly, Al was also reality-based throughout the process so he was never wasting either of our time. Placing your case in his hands will give it a great chance to succeed.

Growing up my mother use to say, "nothin beats an understanding". Being an adult and managing adult experiences, her saying can be more formally rendered as, a good understanding between parties will result in a desired outcome. Tradegy strikes and an adult experience is certain to follow. My brother was killed in an automobile accident on a highway in Virginia. We live in Illinois. He is survived by three children, his eldest by a common law wife in Illinois and the two youngest by his legally married and divorced spouse. His ex wife and younger children lived in North Carolina. Who is prepared for this minefield, but a trusted knowledgable attorney. Our family was introduced to Mr. Clarke through a local attorney. From the initial phone call and the months of activity that followed, our family tradegy was handled with such calm and compassion that I sometimes forgot we were communicating with an Attorney. You may know what I mean, but nonetheless, Mr. Clarke was exactly who we needed to resolve all of the many facets and nuisances of such a complex claim. We could not have found such an Attorney with our limited understanding of the law in multiple jurisdictions. Mr. Clarke impressed us from the first call. He demonstrated that he understood the gravity and scope of his role from the outset and communicated clear expectations to us that this would be a months long process. He also reaffirmed our ability to communicate our thoughts and concerns, no matter how irrational or contrary to the facts of law, to him at anytime. In the beginning we had our moments and family disagreements. He handled them all with such grace and compassion, till we worked through our various stages of grieving. I know I am eternally grateful and am sure my Mother is as well. It has been a source of peace that this facet of our experience was professionally managed and not another point of stress. I recall one discussion where Mr. Clarke called with news of an unexpected letter of agreement to settle. He was taken aback when I commented to him that I fully expected such from him, because I have "high confidence" in your ability to get things done. I did not need to communicate constantly to feel assured he was taking care of business, I just knew he would. I had and have High Confidence in Mr. Clarke, even from a distance of several states. I recall only one instance when we communicated with anyone but Mr. Clarke. This only demonstrates his high level of self management and resource management with clients who are given the appropriate expectations to begin a relationship. Both parties respect each other's time. If a professional is what you need and a fair outcome, Mr. Clarke is a strong contender for your legal matters. Thank you. Natalie H

I appreciate S.L. England so much! He really helped me every step of the way! If there was anything , I mean anything I needed, he was there to help. If I didn’t understand something, he made it very clear for me to understand. He helped in every way possible. I was super nervous, paranoid, everything you can think of and all he said to me was “ I got you, don’t worry!” And surely enough I DID NOT have to worry at all! He always had a solution which was helpful on my end and he is just a very understanding person! Overall, I personally feel as though he is one of the best Criminal Defense Attorneys in the DMV. Hands down. I would recommend anyone to hire him!

Mr. Markowwicz has been hands down the BEST lawyer I could've ever had on my case. From the day he was hired he set high expectations and gave me his opinions based on the information I gave him straight forward. Any and all questions were answered, and he fought for me more than I honestly felt that I would've been able to fight for myself in court. Throughout the case, he made sure to keep me updated on everything and even gave me advice on the things I needed to do in order to help strengthen my argument when it came time to do so. To sum it up he was able to help me win FULL primary custody in a case where I truly believed I'd only get visitation rights. Words can't express my gratitude. Thank you, Mr. Markowics

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Washington, District of Columbia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
