During this past summer, I had the honor and privilege of interning at the law office of Koonz, McKenney, Johnson, DePaolis, and Lightfoot in Washington, DC. As an undergraduate student from the University of California, Irvine with no prior experience or exposure to the professional culture of DC, I was initially apprehensive and worried about getting acclimated, especially since it was my first time in the city. Fortunately, one of the attorneys, William J Lightfoot, immediately took me under his wing and was extremely understanding and patient with me. Not only did he provide me with a diverse work experience (conduct research, write up chronologies, answer interrogatories, and draft legal memoranda), but he also took the time to give me constructive feedback and suggestions on each of my assignments. As a prospective law student, it was immensely helpful and invaluable to receive feedback from an actual attorney who genuinely cared about my personal development and future as an attorney. Moreover, Will provided me with opportunities to attend events that were outside of the office – I had the privilege of observing numerous client intake interviews, depositions, and both informal and formal hearings. Will truly strove to make my summer internship as meaningful as possible, and I am grateful for the plethora of opportunities that I was able to experience because of him. For any prospective students interested in work surrounding personal injury law, I implore you to reach out to Koonz McKenney. I had an extremely fulfilling internship experience, and I am confident that future interns will experience the same.

Strongly suggest utilizing your own resources or another firm. This firm is lazy when it comes to leg work you can do yourself and eliminate unnecessary attorney fees that diminish your claim. I had to do a lot of phone calling and data gathering on my own to facilitate my claim where I was the victim in an auto accident. Strongly encourage NOT to use Koonz, Mckenny, Johnson, Depaolis & Lightfoot.

I was involved in a car accident with an uninsured motorist where he was at fault. I suffered several bodily injuries as a result of the accident. My daughter who is an excellent attorney suggested that I would retain Paulette Chapman simply because she is the best in the field and highly respected by her colleagues who did similar work. I contacted Paulette Chapman by phone and explained my situation. At the end of the conversation I was confident that I was in good hands and that I will be cared for like a person who has been wronged. Paulette and her team made me feel that my case was important to them and that they had my back and would fight for me. Paulette and her team where accessible at various steps of the process especially Mary Jobe, Paulette’s assistant who would respond to my emails the same day. Right from the start Paulette clearly communicated with me the parameters with in which we would be working my case. She made issues understandable and explained the process in terms I could understand. As she collected information Paulette would go through a “fact checking” session with me to see if she had a good understanding of my case. I had many opportunities to participate in building my case. I am a scientist myself and was amazed by the amount of research she and her team has conducted to become extremely familiar with my clinical situation in order to counteract the defendant’s possible arguments. Paulette payed special attention to details and this made “connecting the dots” possible for building a strong robust case for me. She knew the defendant’s lawyer and his abilities in performing due diligence for his client. She was accurate in her assessments and performed exceptionally well at the negotiating table. She also knew the mediator’s ability in working with us and how far she could leverage him to our benefit for a fair settlement. I was very happy with the settlement and I believe she deserved every penny she gained from winning my case. I would highly recommend Paulette Chapman as an outstandingly talented, well-seasoned lawyer who is extremely knowledgeable in her field of practice.

Working with Roger Johnson has been a pleasant and professional experience. His team went above and beyond to make sure I was fairly and expertly represented in my personal injury case. I highly recommend this firm!

Let's just say my life would have been forever ruined without me looking for not only a better lawyer but a lawyer who felt like a guardian angel. Kasey Murray was the life savior when my workers comp was destroying my life cut out all my money and left me with nothing to my name and a injury that was going to leave me disabled forever. She stood to the plate where a different firm failed and hit home runs like they were nothing. She bargained, she fought, she outsmarted, she played ten steps ahead of everyone else, she treated me like a human being, not a money sign. She was just wonderful and thoughtful and so attentive to every desire and need I had to make sure my life was fixed, she fought for what I deserved as a human being, she still to this day fights till I am completely healed and safeguarded. If I could suggest any firm it would be Koon, Mckenny, Johnson, Depaolis and Lightfoot...but honestly ask for Kasey Murray and that woman will be your shining light in the darkest tunnel!

Mr William lightfoot I have never seen a lawyer who is genuinely concerned with their client ,I really was with no help and had no way to get my case taken care of but Mr William lightfoot did what no other attorney would do and immediately took care of my case like it was himself that gotten injured this is true this is the best lawyers in the DMV metropolitan area mr William lightfoot will be the next great lawyer in history thank you sir.........

My case was tremendously different , but this firm hands down , did all the proper procedures and was successful on my case !!

I had a workplace related issue and I was hesitant to call but when I called this law firm and I spoke with Mr Lightfoot I felt at ease and he was very knowledgeable and very helpful I would recommend that if you need a lawyer to represent you or simply want to get an idea as to whether you could proceed or not do not hesitate to call and speak with Mr Lghtfoot.
