I would highly recommend Katie O'Rourke. She is an extremely competent, kind, experienced and level headed attorney whose guidence is invaluable throughout the divorce process.

I retained Katie to help me navigate a difficult domestic issue. She provided clear, concise, and analytically rigorous legal advice in helping me make key decisions on such issues as reclaiming personal property, restraining orders and other miscellaneous domestic issues. Fortunately, all issues were resolved peacefully and no litigation was required. Her reassurance and serenity in getting through a difficult time were essential in helping me get back to a normal life as quickly as possible. I found it especially helpful that Katie was flexible in analyzing and discussing issues with me via telephone, email and in person - a big help given my intense work schedule. Most importantly, every time I dealt with Katie, I felt as though I was dealing with a human being that put my welfare first and foremost. I hope I never have to retain her services again, but if I do, I will not hesitate to call her.

Katie impressed me on our first meeting with a patient confidence that I found genuine. She remained responsive and communicative throughout the process, typically responding to a question or concern within 24 hours. She heard my concerns and so doing, didn't seek to impose views contrary to what she understood to be my best interests. Having stated that, I also felt that if she thought I was proposing to move forward in a manner that would have conflicted with or undermined my ultimate goal of providing a fair and supportive settlement, she would have intervened for my own sake first, as opposed to that of her firm's. My conclusion to this end came in part from my personal read of Katie, as well as my familiarity of her prior public service work. I can't be certain if this ethos is part of her firm's culture, but I felt that in my case, Katie took a sincere interest simply helping me through what she rightly understood as an exceptionally painful process. She did so with behavior objectively professional and not excessively sympathetic, this having been the right approach. So - highly recommended.

Ms O'Rourke did the work on a complicated and difficult divorce case that unfortunately continued long after the divorce was final. If you want to do anything illegal or shady in your legal process, Ms. O'Rourke is NOT the lawyer for you. She does the right thing and will expect you to do the right thing. But if you need someone who will make personal sacrifices, and stand by you, then Ms. O’Rourke is the lawyer for you. She will go the distance with you, whatever it takes. Divorce can be the most miserable of experiences and it means a lot to have the feeling that your lawyer (at least) is covering your back. Ms. O’Rourke is logical, focused, organized and principled. You can absolutely trust her to do a great job, whatever it takes.
