Erin is a great lawyer! From my initial inquiry, she showed her deep knowledge and understanding about my case. She presented possible approaches to the case and presented potential outcomes. I got the feeling that she was right one I needed. She is very responsive, hardworking and always fight for me. In the end, the outcome was much better than I anticipated. I would highly recommend Erin to anyone.

I hoped to never need a lawyer, but when I did, Erin did a wonderful job. She's very knowledgeable and down to earth. She kept me apprised of what was going on every step of the way and guided me through everything. She works very hard and always took my calls or responded to my emails. We achieved great results for the situation I was in. And I didn't have to drive to downtown Cleveland and deal with traffic and parking headaches just to get great representation.

I have used Tammy for many smaller inquiries/jobs and one really big case that she got promptly settled. She's a genuine person and really advocates for her clients, but I sure wouldn't want to be the opposing attorney!

Tammy kept me in the loop at all times, and she was really fair with her billing. My case didn't have the outcome I wanted, but it could have been worse if she wasn't my lawyer. If I ever need her services again, I wouldn't hesitate to call.

I've gotten a good few speeding tickets around the Northeast Ohio area, and Jeffrey has gotten all of them pled down, saving me from points on my license and higher insurance premiums. He charges a fair price for effective representation - well worth it to protect your driving record and your wallet from higher insurance rates!

Attorney Ramsey is great to work with. I got myself into some trouble as a teen and young adult and had some criminal offenses that he is in the process of getting expunged. I highly recommend him to anyone that is trying get their record expunged. I will be having him set up a trust for me in the near future as well.

In our initial consultation, I told John what I wanted from this case and his wheels started turning. He said then what he felt he could do for me. In numerous other interactions, he would fill me in and update my status. At the end of the day, he got me exactly what he thought and I wanted. I see all of this “doesn’t call me back” jargon and though I did have an experience or two like that, I knew that he would get with me when he needed to. Sometimes he just doesn’t have what you’re looking for at the moment and I realized that. I know how stressful being a defendant is in a criminal case, you would wish you could chat with your attorney 24/7 because the unknown is brutal, but sometimes there isn’t anything to talk about at the moment! God willing I never have to be in that situation again, but my first contact will without a doubt be John. Thanks again man, you’re a rockstar!

John Toth was able to get my case dismissed also before the case was bound over he was able to suspend the court cost and fines , so for a felony 5 and 3 misdemeanor charges, I walked away with 2 misdemeanor convictions and no fines! Given my track record I wasn't expecting that . He really does do his job well !!!

In my experience, he was easily intimidated by my ex family member who work within the Justice System ~ he has to work in the Justice Center everyday, so he was more concerned about what was in their best interest rather then what the interest was for his client (later I got another attorney who was in total disbelief that Attorney Ramsey did not persue my best interest - bad situation). If you're looking for real help from counsel, this isn't it!

I hired rich, he did not do anything fot me except call my ex’s lawyer and tell them everything that I told rich I wanted done. He is affraid to take anything to court. He lets other lawyers decide where the case should go. Does not help you at all. Then after he charges you thousands of dollars without going to court will quit. He then cries about how he ran for judge and lost.. if your looking for a lawyer who will charge you thousands with absolutely not accomplishing anything he is the guy for you. Really has no trial time. Will not go in front of judge. Cries on your time. Terrible terrible lawyer. Would be better if you reposented your self

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
