Marissa has been a God-send for our family. When our mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, we didn't have a clue on how to get help or protect our parents assets. Not only has she saved us many thousands of dollars in care expenses, while also protecting all assets, but she is always readily available when we have a question or need more help. Cannot recommend enough.

My wife scheduled a consultation with Marissa to review our estate documents. I was skeptical about this as we are both young so I didn't think we needed to meet with an Elderlaw attorney. After our consultation I couldn't thank Marissa enough! There were things we didn't even know we needed to consider for our future and never would have thought of had we not discussed them with Marissa. She was thorough in reviewing the documents we had and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend Marissa when it comes to reviewing the essential documents for your future.

Atty. Marshall has been a great asset in assisting me with my legal needs. Not only has she completed and guided me through the planning for assistance and care for my parents, she has explained the process along the way. She quickly responds to my questions, cares and concerns.

Mr. Kreisher took on my civil case that was adjunct to an extraordinarily complicated criminal matter involving theft by entities at the highest level. He did so when other attorneys I consulted did not have the courage or concern to even legitimately examine the evidence I had gathered. His background as a prosecutor has been invaluable. He has been extremely helpful in follow-up consults for years about the case that is now in the courts more than a decade. His frustration with how the system allows the financially powerful to defy the law has been palpable and as ardent as my own frustration with the entire matter. We obsess over the rights of the Defendant in this country. Victims deserve it more. Defendants get due process and have the right to a speedy trial. Victims, far too often in this 21st century, are dismissed on ill-informed, arbitrary, and prejudicial grounds that not only violate their Civil Rights but that often constitute a secondary assault by the judicial system itself. Mr. Kreisher is among the few attorneys I have met that not only understands this but is doing what he can from his position now in private practice to effect change in this kind of glaring miscarriage of justice. He has defended the rights of those with no voice in animal cruelty trials. And I have also worked with him in a situation of a Defendant that had been wrongfully accused of animal abuse. Again his prosecutor's background is in evidence in his ability to ably serve his clients' rights and needs. I am sure he brings outstanding legal talents to bear in all of his cases.

Mr.Spielman represented me during a chapter 13 bankruptcy several years ago. There were alot of issues getting the Trustee to accept the payment plan that we proposed. During the first hearing there were alot of people filing chapter 13. I couldn't help but overhear their comments of how they were given the wrong information by their Lawyer. Many had hired Lawyers that simply didn't show up for the hearing. Our plan was initially rejected and Mr.Spielman somehow, some way got the trustee to accept out payment plan. He was friendly, personable and always returned calls answering anything I needed to know.

Ms. Hixenbaugh handled many of my complex real estate and business transaction. When many of the other attorneys in the firm she was with could not answer my questions, Ms. Hixenbaugh was on top of it and found the correct solution to my issues. I thank her very much and wish she was still practicing in the private sector. She wil make an excellent attorny as General Counsel at the State System of Higher Education in PA.

This lawyer and his mission statement are false. When you have to literally chase down your attorney with emails, phone calls with no response, this is also false from his mission statement. An attorney that you pay by the hour is there to give "You" the best legal advice and be objective NOT to give opinions that are not in your best interest.Ladies, if you need legal advice please choose elsewhere, this attorney is a "guy's lawyer".

I applied online for help with my custody case; went in the next day and was told at first they couldn't find me. Then it was "someone already emailed you." I never got an email. Then I was told there was a "conflict" once my ex-husband's wife's name was mentioned; they were supposed to look into it and call me. They never did. I wish I could give a good review, but they don't follow through so I can't really say either way...

We hired her for elder care and we had issues getting some info along with closing accounts. We asked for help to only be told under review and all while I was ill and as said needed assistance to retrieve documents so don't believe the contract where it says will assist. Just lazy and earn off your work and then without notice dropped us as a client and she back tracks and blames us.

We went to Attorney Kreisher to have our new wills, POA and Living Wills drawn up. We've had other wills but have never had any other attorney ask the questions Marianne did. She was professional just personable. She wrote down all the questions we needed answers for and gave us a print out of them for us to take home. This gave us the opportunity to have time to think about them and provide the answers. She explained a Trust account to us, giving us both the pros and cons.

I called here to try to set up for an interview with the Attorney. I informed them I live out os state and may possibly need a telephone interview. Before I could tell the intake lady if I could come up if need be she immediately said she could not take the case. I called back again and before I could say okay fine if you can not have a phone interview then I can fly out with no worries she again said she would decline the case and hung up. This was very professional and the secretary did not try to find an alternative to the situation. She kept hanging up .

I saw the previous bad reviews and have to say that was not my experience with Mr. Primerano. He traveled to my side of the state (I'm in Pittsburgh) and took care and time to understand my problems with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. He even lowered his fee to give me the dollar amount I wanted to settle WC. I couldn't have been happier.

Lack of care or a reasonable settlement, he gave up so he didn't have to go to court and told me this was the best I could do. I am now on SSDI and have had 2 Surgeries in my Neck in the last 3 years since the accident. I am disabled for the rest of my life. After all the stress and anxiety during this case, I wanted it over since the truck was a municipality Mach Snow Plow / Dump truck that was put it in reverse when it hit me, it was the Max Settlement. I received $30,000 and Primerano received $20.000. He gave up on trying to do better. Should have went to court.

Worst experience with a professional I've ever had. Similar to other reviews, she took extended amounts of time to respond to important matters and simple questions after she insisted that she was easy to reach. She was incredibly hard to reach or speak with! State filing documents were rejected after she had completed them. When we tried notifying her of the rejections, she completely blew us off. She stopped responding to emails, returning phone calls, and wouldn't even schedule a face to face meeting. Very, very unprofessional! Do not hire!

Its been 8 months since i hired her and still have not see results! She is impossible to get a hold of and NEVER once returned a single message ive left her! The whole time she made me feel as though she has sides with my ex and doesnt seem to care about what is best for my child at all. She is very rude and hasnt fought for me even though she is MY lawyer. Currently looking for a new one as we speak!

Frank Baker was hired to perform distribution of estates and bequests in late 2011, and proceeded to do nothing with said account for 16 months. He took information from me regarding the estate, and did nothing with it. I tried reaching him at the provided phone number numerous times (15 over a 3 day period) and got no answers, no call backs, and not even an answering machine on the other end of the line. He is a pathetic excuse for a lawyer and should be dis-barred and arrested on fraud and larceny charges. I would not recommend this lawyer or any of his partners to anyone who is looking to have legal things done in a timely and professional manner. He has no communication with clients, and no schedule to his madness. Go ahead, try and call him...I'll give you 20 calls before you start freaking out at the phone. I am going to fire him from my account as soon as I finish writing this review.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
