Having worked with 4 attorneys in the past, I came across Mr. Aaron Liller through Avvo, I have to say that Mr Liller is extremely knowledgeable and patient, he explained everything in detail, responded to my emails and calls even on weekends and late at night. I was purchasing a bank owned property and he was there at every step and answered my every question with lots of patience. Home buying can be a very stressful experience and if you want an attorney who will understand you and guide you through the process and respond to your questions then Mr. Liller is highly recommended. I am glad that I have found a very trustworthy attorney and hope to work with him again.

Aaron S. Liller Esq is handling my closing for my house and is also in the process of reassessing my taxes. He is helpful, knowledgeable, and always available when I need something. I have worked with many other lawyers in the past and have not had the customer service and expertise I have had with this law firm. I would highly recommend him for real estate closings and tax assessments.

I really enjoyed working with Aaron during a real estate transaction pertaining to a property in Asbury Park. This property was bank owned and a quick sale. Aaron was able to pull everything together within a few days and we closed on-time. Tama has given my family, friends and I free legal advice on several occassions. Her reasoning is, "she doesn't want to take advantage, she would much rather advise you how to handle the matter if possible. She has represented me in court on two occassions. In a nutshell, she simply awsome. On one occassion, I expressed the fact that I was very nervous. She simply smiled and stated, "You have nothing to worry about...that's why you hired me, so you will not have to be concerned. Needless to say, she has never disappointed me.

I spoke to several attorneys about pursuing the builder of my new construction home for the many defects that are present in the home. My consultation with James was better and more useful than my conversations with all the others. James really impressed me with his thorough knowledge of construction and real estate law. Beyond legal expertise, he has a background in construction, and it shows. He answered my detailed, specific questions with ease and gave me clarity on how best to proceed. In my case, it turned out that pursuing the builder through the new home warranty program would be more effective than pursuing him through the courts, and James helped me figure that out. I will forever be grateful to James for the help he gave me. If you have a construction or real estate matter in New Jersey, I don't think you'll find anyone more qualified or more skilled than James.

I've known Tama for many years and contacted her for some help. She advised us on our options regarding some issues with our product liability case and helped us tremendously with an ongoing problem with my son's schooling. I would without any hesitation recommend Tama for your legal needs. She's bright, smart and very honest which is a winning combination.

I received a ticket for a pile up where their were multiple accidents. Myself being the end car in the chain got the heaviest ticket. He kept in contact with me between the virtual proceedings via email and phone calls. He told me what he was going to do and made it happen. I would highly recommend Mario as a lawyer and use him in a heart beat if myself or my kids get a traffic violation again.

This lawyer refuses to do what he was hired to do. His job was to represent me which he did a poor job of doing. I felt as the client I had no say in what happened to me and that he just wanted to take my money and go for the first offer the prosecutor threw at him. If there was an option that was less than one star he would be given that rating.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
