We hired Mr. Lundberg to help us with our case. When we got to court we noticed that other lawyers there were dressed in jeans or wrinkly clothes. Our lawyer was dressed in a suit and tie. When we listened to the other peoples cases, we noticed that the clients were not prepared very well and in one case that cost the client extra money. When it was our turn, we were very prepared by Mr. Lundberg, simply answered a few questions and we were done. We felt very well prepared and represented. He sort of helped us in two cases. He and his team worked very hard for us. The communication throughout the case was great and all of our questions were answered thoroughly. It feels so good to know that if we have any other legal needs in the future, that we have found in Ray an attorney we can trust!

I met Ray randomly because I needed a lawyer who was local and could support me with a matter in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I am so happy I found Ray and his team. I was freaked out about what was happening to me and Ray put me at comfort and handled my case professionally and to my benefit.

I have recently relocated in the Mohave Valley from California. I had gotten myself in a little trouble and had to spend a brief time in the Mohave County Jail in Kingman. Upon my release I went and talked to a few local attorneys. My public defender guaranteed me that at least 30 more days in jail was required of me, in a case I felt that I was unjustly charged. I hired Ray because he and Brit were both very out going and personable. He is familiar with the court my case was heard in and he is well respected in our community. And a small community it is! He didn't promise me any unrealistic outcomes. He charged a little bit more than some of the lawyers I had talked to. But it was well worth it! I will definitely hire Mohave Law in the future, if the need arises. And I would definitely recommend Ray to family and friends. Thank-You Ray!

We had a major investigation of our IDTF diagnostic facilities and one of our shareholders, a physician, faced board complaints in every state he was licensed in. It was grueling and extremely stressful. D’Arcy was recommended by another attorney and we are thankful we were able to retain her. She coordinated and oversaw all of the out of state matters that required local counsel, handled the federal matters including experts. She helped us resolve the case with minimal repercussions and managed to obtain dismissals on all of the board complaints. She was sensitive to our stress level and on one hand was extremely compassionate with us and on the other - relentless with the opposition. We now recommend her to everyone and use her for our compliance and litigation matters. She prevents us from unknowingly getting into trouble.

Ms. Downs-Vollbracht listened to me and helped me to navigate my way through some very difficult experiences of discrimination with my previous employer. I really felt like she genuinely cared about me and her advice kept me one step ahead of them. She has subsequently assisted me with other matters, such as starting my own business, applying for PPP Loans during the pandemic, and purchasing my first home. She is very capable, and is able to tackle any problem I present to her. After talking to her about legal matters that are stressing me out, I immediately feel less anxiety. I am confident that she will handle it so I can get back to living my life without worrying and stressing about legal stuff. I highly recommend her services! She won't disappoint you!

I had a limited amount of time to figure out a family legal matter (military on leave). Ms. T-Shura saw me on fairly short notice and helped me though multiple issues that arouse while I was there. She was courteous and professional. She also identified a few problems that I didn't realize were happening, and helped me through them. I will definitely use them again if I need a lawyer anywhere near that region again.

Linda was excellent in our case, she helped us with a will and all that goes along with it. She held our hand every step of the way. Her attention to detail and explaining every item to us until we understood it was extremely appreciated. She then set up the signing and a mobile notary. We felt she went above and beyond. Highly recommend!

Steve is a hard working attorney. I felt very comfortable with him on my court case. I was in a contract case that the contractor did not follow the contract, blue prints or the model. Steve not being an attorney too long, referred me to another attorney for litigation & that attorney cost me and my wife the case and $88,000.00. Steve is a good attorney, but is still too new to the court system. Good luck Steve………

I have had Stephen on and off for ten years for many different reasons. He has fought tooth and nail with me for my daughter and has helped with other things other than family law. He's a great person, super caring, and amazing team inside and out.I would and will choose him over and over again for any questions or concerns I have. Don't take any other attorney, choose Stephen's Law Office for any family law, or anything he can help with. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Stephen was recommended by several people even referring him as a “bulldog,” Unfortunately I did not have that experience. He was very hard to get in contact with and barley returned emails leading me to deal with the receptionist& paralegal the majority of the time. We knew for about 6 months the opposing party was going to file a Modification of Parenting Time and Child Support, and when this happened, Stephen ended up withdrawing From my case leaving little to no time to find a lawyer who would take my case on such short notice. He never even received important documents from the opposing party Which I paid him to help get for court. The invoice included fees such as zoom calls that were never made. He put in forms to the court that I did not approve, which actually helped the opposing party. Basically, when things got tough, he bailed and left me to pick up the pieces. I have never dealt with this sort of situation and would hope no one has to. I thought I paid someone that would fight for myself and my family but instead got someone whom is all talk. He talks a good game and from what I hear does well with divorces but when it comes to parenting time/child custody, he only wanted to negotiate which was not happening with the opposing party and was not willing to do the leg work.

78-year-old Norma Thornton was arrested for giving food to the homeless in Bullhead City, Arizona. The city’s law says you can’t give food to the homeless in public. Now, Thornton’s attorneys are filing a lawsuit as part of a more significant push nationwide to let people feed those in need. Suranjan San with the Institute for Justice has filed a federal lawsuit against Bullhead City, claiming the law violates the right to serve. “This case is about kindness. Bullhead City has criminalized kindness,” said Thornton’s attorney, Suranjan San, with the Institute for Justice. “The city council passed an ordinance that makes it a crime punishable by four months imprisonment to share food in public parks for charitable purposes.” Thornton said she owned a restaurant for many years before retiring in Arizona. After retiring, she said she used her cooking skills to give back. “For four years, Norma regularly spent her afternoons preparing hot, nutritious, delicious meals from scratch in her home kitchen and gave them out in the park to anyone who asked,” San said. But in 2021, Thornton’s new passion became illegal. “At a city council meeting, the city attorney made it crystal clear. You may host a pizza party in the park for 50 people or a hundred people. Invite friends, invite strangers. You may do it all day every day, so long as your motivation is something other than to help people in need,” San said. At the time of her arrest, Thornton said it was so shocking that it was hard to process. “Still, I thought it was a kind of joke, someone playing a prank– until I was put in the back of the police car,” Thornton said. Thornton never admitted guilt in court, saying she did nothing wrong. “I have always believed that when you have plenty, you should share,” she said. Bullhead City Mayor Tom Brady said the law only applies to public parks, meaning that churches, clubs and private properties are free to serve food to the homeless without a permit. City mayor, attorney, prosecutor, and council should be fired and needs to be educated in what hypocrisy means including tact, kindness, morals and ethics. Your the ones that should serve a sentence including community service feeding the homeless and serving those in need in a humble manner! Repent your wicked ways!!

It's pretty low to prosecute a 78 year old grandmother for feeding the homeless. Its all over social media. The cop in the video even says "this is going to be a PR nightmare" and he is 110% right. Anyone who makes a law to starve people should be behind bars themselves.

Thomas Donaldson bullhead city prosecutor is inept and feckless at doing the job he was hired to do. Thomas Donaldson is condescending and rude. Thomas Donaldson has failed the citizens and community of bullhead city Arizona. Thomas Donaldson has failed to take a case to trial in years the smart defendant will hire a lawyer and push for trial and Thomas Donaldson will fold and dismiss the case. However if you get sucked into the public defender his hands are tied to plea deals only.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
