I hired Jennifer Bogacki after a death in my family. I arrived to my appointment w/Ms Bogacki, not knowing if I needed to be my sister's Power of Attorney or what needed to be done in making sure my sister was taken care of. I knew I needed an Attorney, and an excellent one! After my consult, I hired Ms Bogacki. Since, she has walked me each step of the way w/obtaining guardianship, each step of the way w/direction, legal information, any and everything that comes up. Our client and Attorney relationship continues, and will for years to come. She is smart, knows the laws, gets things done, professional and supportive. I would recommend her to anyone needing an Attorney. I trust her.

I found Mark Jones to be extremely helpful. He is quick to respond to my needs and is extremely courteous. I actually needed a closing done on a Friday night at around 6 pm and it was 2 hours from his firm. Without hesitation he jumped in his car and took care of it...THANK YOU!!!

I've had a few different attorneys in Alamance County. Atty Treadwell is by far the best I've dealt with, not just as an attorney but as a person. She is caring, intelligent, a wonderful communicator and knows her trade. I felt as though I was in good hands, after being in her presence for five minutes....five months later and I feel even better about her. Atty Treadwell is an asset you must have on your side, I am blessed she is on mine.

I received a ticket for a past due registration on my car. I hired Ms. Delforge and was very happy with my experience. She handled it in a swift and professional manor, and I was in and out in no time! I was allowed time to get my car inspected and didn't have to pay court fees. I would definitely recommend her and will go to her again in the future for family matters since she is so versatile and affordable.

Very, very, very slow. I called several months ago, intending to set up an LLC, but due to funding, we decided to wait until now when we had what was needed. I emailed six days ago (at the time of this review) saying that we were ready to go through with it, and I called to make sure that he got the email. The receptionist told me she would give my information to Frank Longest, and I haven’t heard anything back since. Even the email I had sent him way back months ago was never responded to. I can’t recommend this company as they seem to crawl at the pace of a snail, and they don’t communicate at all. Disappointed, since Frank seemed like such a helpful and nice guy. Someone who had used Frank before recommend him to me, but I think they worked with him many years ago, which explains the quality change in recent reviews.

I highly recommend Geoff Oertel. Being my first experience in hiring a lawyer, I was impressed with his confidence, knowledge and, foremost, his integrity. He truly cares about his clients and his motives are sincere. Geoff was always available, reassuring and kept me updated about the case. I couldn't have chosen a better lawyer to represent my case. Thank you Geoff for winning my case, which honored my dads wishes.

I wish I could give zero stars. I was waiting outside Mr. Rossi's office for my fiance to join us for a meeting. This man came barreling over, knocked into me, and then blamed me for it even though he spilled his coffee all over me. He told me that he was a powerful lawyer and that I shouldn't cross him. I was shaken by how completely mean he was. My fiance arrived a bit later and helped me clean up. Then we went up to meet Mr. Rossi -- turns out he was the mean man! As soon as he saw that I was his potential client he did a 180 and tried to suck up to me. It was honestly pathetic.

My fiancé received a speeding ticket while driving through Alamance county. I contacted multiple attorneys inquiring about costs for representation. Mr. Rossi's office was the last of 5 attorneys. My first impression was a lasting one. Being able to speak to him directly made the experience personable. Additionally, he is relatable and a great communicator. His price was not only affordable, but it was the best quote that I'd received, especially considering my initial contact was a week prior to the court date. He responded swiftly to emails and voice messages. He was very detailed and explained everything thoroughly. I received an email from him regarding the outcome of the case as soon as he left court. We saved money hiring him. Additionally, he fought for our best interest getting the ticket reduced to a faulty speedometer violation. No insurance or license points!!! Just court costs. I highly recommend his services!!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! I hired Attorney Kenan for some traffic violations which caused me to lose my license for a while. It was inevitable to happen with all of my violations, a misdemeanor and my negligence. He was trustworthy, morally responsible, very honest and thorough. He kept me informed with the progress of my cases while also keeping me on track and even educating me being I know nothing about law. Considering all of my offenses, Attorney Kenan worked very hard to get the best outcome possible. He went above and beyond what other lawyers I have worked with concerning these same matters and he was the only one to actually bring not just results but the results I was seeking. I hope to not be in situation to have to hire him again BUT if so I am most certainly going to him and I suggest all others to do the same!

I was disappointed with how I was represented & found out after settlement that I could have been eligible for twice the damages. Should have found & used this more knowledgeable attorney before contracting Jeffrey Andrews. 100% regret this decision.

This attorney was very rude and antagonistic, he refused to offer information that would have enabled us to file any of the paperwork ourselves, thus saving us money. He was not clear as to additional fees that were later incurred.

This “attorney” has no communication skills. She went months without responding to my divorce, didn’t even show up to the court date after she said she would, failed to submit files for the case causing it to be closed out by the system and never once failed to tell me any of this. Please don’t waster your time or money.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
