What a blessing he is. I thank God for him. He is an excellent attorney! I am very pleased with his knowledge and how he handled it, especially the outcome of it all. He was on point. The other attorneys were sorry to say not very nice and not very helpful. It’s like they didn’t care. My family and I would love to say Thank you Thank you Thank you Lary. I would recommend Lary fully 100% to anyone who needs an excellent attorney. He is the one. The best I ever had. God bless you in Jesus name Amen .

My husband had aggressive dementia and his family turned against me. We hadn't been married long and they felt I should pay for his care, although he had enough money to do do for many years. Aaron got me through a very trying time and didn't charge too much.

I recently hired Michael to help me with a civil issue I was concerned about. Even though this wasn't his area of expertise, I feel like he stepped in and handled it like a professional. In the end, the advice that he gave me, and the way that he treated me was worth every penny. I would use Michael again in the future.

I hired Tyler Rounds for my modification case. It was a tough situation as my Ex-husbands lawyer was very aggressive. As we were about to settle I asked some questions of Tyler about some details missing on the settlement. Tyler got angry with me and quit. He did refund me several months of fees, which appreciate. In the end I hired another lawyer who got me things Tyler was not even willing to negotiate on. This change added 6 more months to my case, and a lot more money. I was very displeased with Tyler and highly recommend others to look for other representation.

He seemed cocky and maybe a little arrogant but i was seeng him for his expertise not his personality. He was straight forward with what he would do and what it would cost. I was happy he didn't waste my time or his. Straight and to the point but he listened too.

This firm and Heidi doesn’t even deserve the minimum 1 star! Heidi is completely useless! All they care about is representing the fraudulent/Corrupt Corporate STATE Court! She’s clueless about the law and violates her Oath! Stay as far away from this firm as possible!

My experience working with Quentin Lackey has been nothing short of terrible. I had a very simple, standard case and throughout the course of seven months and three hearings, nothing moved forward. From paperwork not being filed correctly, to a different attorney showing up at court without letting me know, documents missing attachments, and an utter lack of communication, working with Quentin was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever dealt with. His lack of professionalism is something I've never experienced before and certainly never expected from an attorney.

I had a terrible experience with Quentin and his staff. Quentin told me he didn't have time to go to my Zoom hearing. So I thought I will just explain the situation to the judge myself on the day of the hearing. When the Zoom hearing started, a person told the judge he was from Quentin's office, and he was representing me. I was utterly confused. I had never talked to this person before! Quentin never told me that he was going to send someone from his office. It turned out this person knew nothing about my case. He said nothing during the whole hearing. Because I had "representation", I was not afforded the opportunity to speak during the hearing. Another big issue is that Quentin's office performed work that I did not authorize. I emailed Quentin and asked him to pause the work on my case. He was aware of that. However, when Quentin was absent from the office for several weeks, his paralegal performed work on my case without my permission. On top of that, they didn't send me any billing statements during that time for several months. But they still kept billing against my retainer. When the retainer was drained, they started automatically charging my credit card. I could continue to elaborate on the numerous other issues I've experienced with Quentin's office, but I'll refrain from doing so to avoid making this review overly lengthy.

I feel good he did all he could. He actually cares. thats more then i can say about most.

He filed a law suit on our behalf without our knowledge, then he actively solicited his services promising things he could not accomplish. He did all of this for his own benefit, which he could not achieve as well. Highly unprofessional, and ignorant, he lost our law suit due to misfiling paperwork (it could have been a win), and left us with $60,000 of opposing counsel fees. We are starting complaint with Bar Association. Hopefully, we will recover some of the damaged he caused. BEWARE! DO NOT HIRE!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
