Barry has helped me with several legal matters, and each time his focus was on the case and getting me the best result possible. Barry's rates a quite reasonable and he works hard to earn his fee, He and his team go out of their way to answer any questions you may have, and he gives you straight, honest answers, not what you want to hear, but rather, what you need to hear. I have found Barry to be an honest, fair, and extremely competent. You will not be disappointed!

I have had the pleasure of working with a lot of this firm's staff. During a very stressful, frightening process looking for help for my mom during an unfavorable work experience, no other lawyers were willing to help. My first contact was with Amy Oakden...IMMEDIATELY I knew I had hit the lottery. SHE CARED. She spoke to the partners and THEY cared. During one very scary incident, Mr. Barry Walker himself was on the phone with me and ensuring me that it would all be okay and that in the event I needed someone after hours, he gave me his personal cell number. Not only do they care...they ALL know their stuff!! Larissa was another awesome lawyer that came to our aid. I am also so impressed by the rest of their staff. Vicki Warren and Misti Janes. I have had frequent contact with them...and the caring and amazing customer service flows from Mr. Walker all the way through the office. Once this firm took over my mom's case...I have been able to let it go and let them handle it. NO WORRIES. Great lawyers, and just really good PEOPLE. I also really appreciate how responsive they are. They get that people are calling during a period in their lives that may not be the best time!

Mr. Rossi is very smart and worked very hard for us and we "won". In our trial, he cross-examined the plaintiff and tore him and his case apart. Mr. Rossi was always prepared and kept us informed throughout the case.

Without going into a long story I had 2 different attorneys firms trying to settle my WC case for 8 years. After all that time there was no progress and most annoying was no communications. I found Kathryn Yount's office which was in the same building as my dentist. I called for an consultation and made arrangements for an office consultation. After that I retained her as my attorney and she made all the notifications to get my files sent to her firm. In less than a year and with constant communication s she was able to get my case settled. She and her staff were very attentive, friendly, professional and I would highly recommend her law firm if you need a WC attorney.

Kathryn and her staff did a great job for me. Helpful. Patient. Successful. I really can't say how much my life was changed for the better after my case. Kathryn helped me fight back and then see a new future. I had more options than I knew. I also realized how many lies I was being told before I got an attorney. I did not know the difference.

I picked up Mrs. Yount's card and set up a free consultation. She explained how Insurance companies handle people in my situation, explained the worker's comp process, and answered any questions I had. I hired her and stood back as she went to bat for me. My case ended with a very favorable settlement. She is knowledgable, very caring, very professional. I highly recommend Attorney Kathryn Yount and her staff who were also very pleasant. Thank you all!

Paid for a consult, $280.00, he advised me to write a letter myself, to the othe party. After that didn't work I've called him three times in three weeks and he never returns my phone call. So I get to pay another attorney the same fee for the same thing. Make sure you pay with a credit card so you can dispute the charge, otherwise you could be throwing away money yourself.

Mr. Zorn is better off as a realtor than as a lawyer. He didn't have a clue what he was doing in the courts and took out things in my case that were important! He did not inform me of documents he had that would HELP my case, instead he kept trying to do what was in the best interest for HIM rather than his own client. I wouldn't hear from him for months at a time! He's better off as realtor than lawyer. So glad I fired him! I would NEVER recommend him to anyone.

James Boyd was my lawyer but I fired him because he never called me back and never gave me a discovery nor police report never and I've had him over a year on my case he never filed motions never sent private investigator to investigate anything or or to question any of the witnesses on my behalf he did nothing I asked for my money back and started cussing at me so I ask the courts to let him go cuz he wanted me to take a deal at the preliminary hearing but never told me where this strategy was or any kind of deals that I can take why would I take a deal for something I I'm not guilty of. I have never in over a year been to his office the only time I seen him was at court the only time I talk to him is that Court briefly and he wants me to take a deal what kind of lawyer does that then I asked him for half of my money back and starts cussing at me telling me that I was way under charged but I paid what he asked of me .he always showed up to court late.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?

  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
