You won't regret it. Mrs. Adams has been so wonderful to me in helping me stand up for myself. She's been honest, determine, and fights for what is right. The fact that she is very informative and helpful in walking with me step by step in the court, has made this process alot easier for me. If a time comes again when I need a lawyer, I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

Mrs Adams is knowledgeable of the law, is honest, and fights for what is right. She’s respectful; but, is not afraid and doesn’t hesitate to argue her case. She will not mislead and promise you anything she doesn’t feel is attainable and fair. Honesty is not common in this line of business; but, that’s her strongest attribute.

I posted a negative review on Google reviews back in May but I deleted it thinking I was being hasty. Now I realize my initial assessment of Mr. Deakins was correct after all. After leaving messages for 3 weeks now I still haven't gotten a return call - but it has been like this from the start. This firm's business practices, to me, are horrible. Either his receptionist fails to give him messages or he simply ignores them. The only thing he seemed to be in a hurry about was taking the money, then you are pushed to the side. He may be a good attorney and he may get results but he leaves a paying client in the dark and that is a pretty helpless feeling.

It is difficult to put into words and accurately convey all the great qualities of Mr. Deakins as an attorney!! He is extremely hard working and has a vast knowledge of the law. He is very understanding and was always available to answer any of my many questions as quickly as possible. His character both as an attorney and person is outstanding! He fiercely represented me with skill and professionalism. I would highly recommend Mr. Deakins for your legal needs. Not only will he treat you and your case with dedication and focus, but he will sincerely fight for you and your innocence.

I gave a 52k retainer, she provided no written agreement despite my requests. It has been over a year now, and she has not even begun to work on my case. She has never returned a call. I learned fast and set up meeting instead. Two days before court I had a meeting with her for 10 minutes, as she was rushing me out. It was very evident she had not even reviewed my file and was very unprepared to defend me.Scary!

She will take your money, have you show up for court and wait all day 6 times only to reschedule, then drop you as a client. I wish i read her reviews before i hired her. not to mention she is impossible to contact and will not communicate with you at all. Do not waste your money on this woman.

He embarrassed me and upset me in court. I was forced to take him as my lawyer, after I asked the court, how I was supposed to afford a lawyer, since the police called my job and had me fired.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.

Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.

For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
