I couldn't be happier with Kathryn Tart's services. She far exceeded all expectations with my custody case, After all other negotiations failed, and our case went to trial, it was evident that Mrs. Tart had put in the time and effort to know our case inside & out. Not only is she brilliant, but I believe she really cares about her clients and their families and that is the makings of a truly great domestic attorney!

Mr Jones , is a very professional and reputable lawyer! He does not sugar coat anything ,but he is a damn good attorney! I have been locked up over 18 times last year due to lies and false allegations and haven't seen my son in over a year ! He proved this to the judge and in out first court hearing i got awarded joint custody to be able to get back in my son's life! Baby steps headed towards Big results!

Wouldn't recommend. Was needing a real astate lawyer and the person on the phone was very unhelpful with the process.(very rude too.) So I just called another place (since they mentioned to me that Mr.Dwight didnt have the schedule to just go over paper work, and I never said I needed only paper work done, I wanted a closing done as well).(I was financing the property and closing wouldnt be a quick process).Basically to put it quicker for a better understanding is that they wanted quick money and not wanting to help or even schedule a consultation to see if he could help. As I own my own company, I don't recommend the assistant he has . The first person to answer the phone has a nicer attitude than the one the one they transferred me over too. The next placed I called has higher professionalism and understanding . If I only had the chance to talk with the Mr.Dwight directly instead of his assistants.

Yall these ladies at this firm are amazing! They go above and beyond to try to help their clients. My situation was not an easy case to handle yet they have done so much more than I could have asked for! They've let me yell, vent, and cry over the past year they've been working on it for me! I would greatly recommend at least having a conversation to get some guidance! Out of all the estate lawyers in Harnett, Cumberland and Lee counties Lee and Rhonda were the only ones willing to take on this ridiculous estate situation opine! They are truly wonderful people! Thank yall for qll your help!

Mr yopp was my attorney. While he is not one to have contact much rest assured this man is on top of things. I would rather have an attorney that's in my case going over it with a fine tooth comb and getting results then sitting on a phone talking wasting valuable time. You want a lawyer who is gonna get the job done Michael Yopp is that man.

To be fair he is court-appointed. My son had him for about a year with NO contact. We tried everything. Phone calls, requests via emails, speaking with the admin assistant numerous times, texting etc. trying get an audience with him. We have also talked with others who have this man as appointed and they resonate the same. He asked my son to plea deal but provided no DA provided Discovery evidence. He pushed my son into signing the deal. I hired an attorney, so my son has a voice in court because this man, who was disbarred about two decades ago for stealing clients' monies, could care less if his client goes behind bars for something that has no evidence.

Robert Frey made promises he never kept, never spoke to me about my case after I hired him unless I called, and couldn't provide definitive answers unless it was at my own risk i.e. Couldn't answer my questions but could tell me what he wanted to do but couldn't explain why. I now see that "why" was because his experience is chalked up to "procedural" cases only, as it would appear that the only cases he talked about winning were cases where one simply needed an attorney to understand what paperwork needed filing-and to be honest it appeared that if said cases were not easy or "in the bag" he was inadequate, still, as far as his legal competency was concerned. Something else he and his associates did was talk about other clients cases in front of me and with me. In detail. Things I as a client wouldn't have wanted revealed. The day I arrived for mediation others in his office appeared to be just "hanging about" in the same office where this process was to take place, for no particular reason, just reading the newspaper, walking around, some were eating and some were having conversations across the table amongst themselves. When it came to settling, the mediator had to point out to Robert A Frey how the things he was considering didnt appear to make sense. When all was said and done this Robert A Frey could not even enforce (or would not) , the terms by which myself and the other party agreed to. Its like he did not care when I notified him of the breach of contract, although he had already taken thousands of dollars from me AND admitted that a breach had indeed occurred. I actually remember him saying "I just don't know what I can do about it". As his client I was defended with tired lack luster energy accompanied by disloyalty and inept skills. The aroma of how full of it he was left a psychological stench that I must clear evertime I think of how sloppy, unprofessional and dishonest he is, to this day. Can you imagine an attorney overseeing his client in a contract and then lacking the common skill to handle the obligated party who broke the signed agreement. Save yourself the hassle, disappointment and headache. If positive results that are "to your benefit" are what you want, then I suggest you Do Not Hire Robert A Frey.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
