Mr. Nichols recently represented me on an OWI 2nd offense. He worked tirelessly to reduce my charge to an OVWI and eliminate my other charges. I was facing jail time, but with his advice, I was sentenced to probation and sobriety court only. He also went out of his way to make my family feel comforted and involved in the legal process. I wouldn't be an attorney today without Brian Laxton's assistance through the character and fitness process. It is not an exaggeration to say that Michigan has one of the most difficult and stressful licensure processes in the United States. Brian knew exactly what to do, the finer details of the process, and how to best present my case to both the district and standing committees. Once we prevailed at the standing committee Brian also successfully petitioned the board of law examiners to preserve my bar exam score. This was a particularly big relief since my obligations to the national guard and a major wrist surgery left me with less than a month to prepare for the July exam. If you have to go through the character and fitness process in Michigan, I highly recommend hiring Brian Laxton.

I am almost fifty years old and have never had a run in with the law. I had a momentary lapse of better judgement and was facing six months in jail at the behest of the complaintent which I had never met in my life. I had a very serious case in which jail time was on the table and had Karen not been my lawyer, I couldn't have said that I wouldn't serve time. I was facing two felonies and a misdemeanor. Her experience and knowledge was a must with my case and her work ethic for me was next to none. She's very easy to talk to and someone that's very genuine, honest, trustworthy, and understanding. In a tough time Karen was there for me and my situation and was willing to work with me as my main residence is out of state, in California. When it was all said and done she worked out a deal that handed me probation with no jailtime and essentially my life back. Being in a gay marriage and undocumented at the time, I was both excited but extremely apprehensive about the immigration process. It can be a pretty stressful experience to say the least!

Azin guided me and my wife to file a fiance visa (K-1) successfully. She was very clear and orderly with all the steps and procedures and made sure that we had everything the officers needed. After the visa was approved she also advised us through the legal procedures for marriage in the state of Michigan.
She also gave us specific guidelines for filling all the paperwork needed for my wife's green card. The officers had everything they needed and more thanks to her sound advice. Having already gone through the divorce process with a different lawyer I was left feeling taken advantaged of, underrepresented, just a dollar sign, and had a distrust in lawyers in general. Knowing that I would need representation again in the future related to custody issues I needed to find another attorney. I remembered an attorney that spoke at Second Saturday, an informational workshop for women dealing with divorce. Colline was the lawyer that spoke about the legal issues related to divorce and her passion and expertise struck me then enough for me to remembered her years later.
I felt understood and safe with Colline and this was so no easy task because of my prior experience with attorneys. She took the time to understand my case and situation more than anyone had done previously. She not only has impressive knowledge with family court and custody she also understands and is sensitive to the personal aspect of your case. Colline knew when to give me straight facts, that at times was challenging to hear and also when to be empathize with me as person and mother.
Her abilities to represent me in the court room were just as impressive as some of her other qualities already mentioned. She was prepared and organized with all the details of my case but what I valued even more was her passion to make sure my daughters and I had the best chance at a life without consent fear. My case was not a simple and I was consistently amazed at her drive to represent me in the best way possible. Colline was able to overcome what seemed like impossible barriers that allowed me to have the best outcome with my custody arrangement.

Mr. Hall is the best attorney you can hire, especially if you have a difficult case. His experience as former police and prosecutor provides him with a full panorama of the other parties' perspectives and gives him a great advantage over other defense attorneys.
Ben is not only a very experienced attorney and highly knowledgeable of the law (as it would be expected), but most importantly, treats you as a human whose life could literally could be on his hands. You are not a bill or just another client. Thus, goes above and beyond even to a personal level to defend you.
There are no words to describe what Ben did. We faced a difficult trial with all odds against me. From complainant and police lying, not preserving evidence, to a judge not being impartial and obstaculizing every step. However, Ben was always anticipating every potential roadblock or scenario. He was extremely prepared, very strategic and aggressive when he needed to be. He never let the court intimidate him despite how difficult that district court is.
From the very beginning, Ben was always looking at all potential alternatives and solutions with backup plans to be ahead of the game.
Ben was always available for me, clearly and transparently communicating status, strategy, challenges and next steps.
There are no words to describe the effort, energy and motivation he put into my case to defend me. The best decision I made was to switch from another attorney and retain Mr. Hall.

I would think that one of the hardest things for a public defender is to balance the need to protect the rights of the client while, at the same time, recommending a plea which will result in the best outcome for the defendant. My son suffers from a mental illness, and was not aware of his circumstances when he became involved in a physical confrontation with a Sherif's department, resulting in being charged with a misdemeanor of Attempted Assault of a Police Officer. Kelly recognized this and was able to guide my son to a plea of "No Contest", knowing full well that he would not have a favorable chance with a jury trial should he plead "Not Guilty" as my son was wont to do. In this way, not only was the Judge and Prosecutor able to compassionately place the defendant on a 2 year probation program, inclusive of following a Community Mental Health recovery program, my son felt that he was not being forced to plead "Not Guilty" to the events of an evening that he can not fully recollect. I would highly recommend Kelly not only for her legal knowledge, but more importantly for her ability to recognize what is best for her client and possessing the ability to achieve this in a very delicate courtroom setting.

Mr. Stephenson has represented a number of my insured physicians (eight) through their medical malpractice trials and has done an excellent job in every instance. In each case, we received a favorable verdict, due in no small part to Michael's exhaustive pre-trial preparations and good calls during trial. Mr. Topa worked very closely with us over the course of setting up our business. He navigated us though all the challenges from writing a business plan, setting up the legal entity, arranging financing with the bank, to navigating all the mess of forms to be filed with the state and federal governments. I would highly recommend him. Only problem was keeping in touch. He was frequently out of the office visiting other clients and we spent most of our time communicating through email.

Stephen did an amazing job for our family. I am a mother of two children that are with me over 80% of the time. I had gone to court for what should have been a routine child support adjustment when I was served with a motion to change child custody. My ex-husband brought his attorney to the hearing and I felt completely intimidated. I went to court thinking the records were just going to be updated, and left with the possibility of my child being taken from me. I was horrified and cried for a few days. Once I was able to compose myself, I decided to hire a lawyer to take the matter on my behalf. I am so thankful I contacted Stephen Foucrier. He met with me on several occasions. He subpoenaed the records necessary to support our defense and filed the proper responses. His thorough work on my case led to a result better than I could have hoped for.
