When it comes to say anything about Mr. Hany Khoury, he’s nothing short of a miracle. My ex-wife was nothing but difficult from Day 1 to Year 4. Mr. Khoury not only had her attorneys drop her just by his sheer excellence and superior knowledge in court during our divorce which resulted in me winning, but also had the judge reprimanding my ex for wasting the courts valuable time. He simply takes no BS, and tells it how it is every step of the way. I’ve been with him throughout a very long process with dirty antics by my ex- wife trying to make me out to be everything under the sun and he’s gotten every fraudulent claim dismissed even to the point where when my ex took the stand she even admitted it was all lies by his proper execution of wording . After our last lengthy go around again in court , he never stopped believing in me, our hope of beating a corrupt system that favors women mainly due to the judge assigned, and we beat her in the end again and all her claims again were all dismissed . He is a Pitbull. So smart and educated and hates when others parents manipulate the court for their own gain. My daughter is all I wanted and he always made sure I was able to get that . He will never give up, his staff is remarkable, he files every document on time, and he really cares about his clients needs. I will never use another attorney. Because to me he’s more than that, he’s family. That’s how he treated me. He made sure I got my daughter back in my life after a system took her away based on fraudulent made up lies from a bitter ex wife. If you need to choose an attorney who will dedicate his knowledge and expertise and be diligent where others won’t, he’s the attorney you want. The best in my opinion in the QC.

During a very tumultuous time in my life, Jacob stepped in and provided a sensible, yet firm grip on reality for me and guided me through the process of divorce. He did not sugar coat anything, but let me know he was in my corner 100% - which allowed me to make informed and logical decisions. That is very hard to do in a high stress, emotional situation. Jacob was reasonably accessible, and effectively communicated with me throughout the whole divorce process. I had a lot of questions, and he had the answers. He was absolutely professional, but not just that - I never had to question if he had my best interest at heart. I would recommend his services to anyone.

This attorney is by far theeeee worst attorney I have ever had interaction with and will end up costing me an additional 500 I don't have, and possibly my parental rights. His inability to orally articulate to the judge that the interrogatories in my contested adoption case were partially complete and could be turned over to opposing counsel was and is sophomoric.... I repeatedly told this would be paper tiger that the questions in the interrogatories were partially complete, and could be turned over. He sat there complacent as opposing counsel along with the judge went to school on him with constructing their pretrial narrative of painting me out to be dragging my feet with discovery... ***I will preemptively point out after missing appointment to go over discovery with him, I called his office to reschedule and my call was not returned until the day before court....

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.

Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:

    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
