I hired Gabe Cameron to represent me during my divorce. I found him to be responsive, very patient, and he really took the time to understand my wants and needs. I never felt rushed and it was nice having someone of this caliber in my corner. I'm not sure what struggle in life your currently fighting but if you want to find a lawyer who will stand shoulder to shoulder with you in battle - It's definitely Gabe!

Gabriel Cameron is one of the best attorneys that I have dealt with. He was there every step of the way for me during my case. I was apprehensive but he gave me assurance in his ability to fight a strong case on my behalf. I recommend Gabriel Cameron to anyone who needs help in getting their social security disability case won. Gabe will do his very best to win your case.

Come to be this guy could care less about his clients I have spent thousands on a interlock system and after a whole year of harassment and financial over charges I cannot get this guy to help for one second ...I recommend you seek someone more professional that can see a case all the way through and spend more than 10 minutes representing you . Save yourself the hassle and heart ache. Not worth the troubles

Called this attorney to set up an appointment for an issue I'm having with the State of MI. He was extremely rude. He questioned my political beliefs (which had nothing to do with my issue) and apparently made the assumption they did not agree with his, so he promptly hung up the phone!

Called Mr. Manning to ask his advice on a subject. He was extremly arrogent and equally misinformed. I told him that my reguest to have some of my rights restored in Michigan was a common one and I could call him back with the exact statute number. His response was "don't bother".Hung up the phone spoke to another atty.he said no problem we handle about 10 of these cases a year. That's funny Mr. Manning said that there was no such law. Now I don't mind if someone is not aware of something, but to have such a closed mind about something and then to be so arrogent about it was inexcuseable.Don't waste your money on this one, do yourself a favor and find a different lawyer.

I was turned down by his services today bc I couldn't give accurate date answers. He would ask me a question and I would try to answer it and he would tell me that's not what I'm asking. Thanks for letting 5 year old lose her house and 20 acres including myself. He is terrible in family law . And very unpatriotic person. When I'm paying a Man $5, 000.00 I should b w able to speak whenever I want. Again He dropped me as a client . You don't want anybody to vasilate. I answered the best I could. Do not hire this man. Thank you

I couldn't be more disappointed with the representation I was provided. I paid $5k out of pocket to have Trent act as an inefficient middle man. In our initial meeting, he made me feel very comfortable and confident and like he was really going to do something and the case was going to be a walk in the park. Because of this, I was very patient for months, assuming he was actually doing something. When I became impatient and started to ask him if he's working for me or Delta County, he'd talk real smooth and reassuring about how he was doing nothing. Trent did nothing and accomplished nothing for me. When it was most apparent that his interests are primarily serving the court, not the client, is when I finally spoke up for myself in court because he wouldn't. He scoffed at me and completely acted like, "how dare you embarrass me in front of my friends". I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. It's been several years since Trent has "represented me". As bad as I wanted to leave a review at that time, I wanted to allow the situation to settle to assure myself that I wasn't allowing my emotions take over and that I provide an accurate review. I don't foresee myself ever feeling less robbed by the lack of service and results I was provided for what, to me at least, is a lot of money. I really wish I could have found some legit reviews at the time to help me avoid the horrible experience of paying Trent Stupak to represent me. PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
