I was a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient. My husband and I got married in Fall of 2017 and started working with Snyder and his team on my immigration case. From the moment we began working with Snyder he was very thorough on the whole process. The whole team always made sure every question was answered and that all the paperwork was accounted for. In Spring of 2021 we got summoned for an interview in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico. I was nervous since it was my first time out of the country but I felt prepared since Snyder and his team had prepared me with everything that I needed and more like an extra affidavit of support in case one was not enough for me. The interview went well, and so did all the biometrics and medical exams. After 3 weeks I was back home in the United States. Now I am ready to apply for citizenship and will be going back to Snyder and his team for guidance. My husband and I highly recommend Gokey Immigration Law Office for your immigration needs.

I recently called the firm to inquire about an immigration visa for my mother and was very disappointed with the experience. The conversation began with an inappropriate and irrelevant question from the paralegal: "Does your mom speak English?" What does her language have to do with booking a consultation with me? According to the firm's website, they provide services for employment-based visas, but the paralegal I spoke with insisted I was wrong and misreading the information. I even quoted the website directly, yet the paralegal continued to claim that I was incorrect. When I politely suggested that the website should be updated if they don’t actually offer this service, the paralegal rudely insinuated that I didn’t understand how to interpret what was listed.
This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable, especially when someone is seeking legal advice and considering a consultation. It’s troubling when a law firm refuses to acknowledge the information on their own website, and even more concerning when an employee responds with such unprofessional and condescending behavior.
I want to highlight, however, that Mr. Gokey, the lawyer and owner, was very respectful and helpful when I previously spoke with him. Unfortunately, his paralegal does not reflect the same level of professionalism. I hope this issue is addressed, either by updating the website or by providing better customer service training to the staff.

I’m not one to hop online and write a review about someone, but when your best friend has been represented by the BEST in the business, you let others know. Mike Gjesdahl is that attorney.
Approximately one year ago, my friend needed to find someone to represent her as she went through a challenging divorce. We were looking for someone who is whip smart when it comes to family law and divorce proceedings. Other attorneys pointed us toward Gjesdahl Law so we knew she would get a top-knotch lawyer. What we didn’t expect were all the “extras” that made her experience exceptional.
Mike Gjesdahl goes above and beyond for his clients. He is strong in all situations and his clients draw from that strength. He is compassionate toward his clients and their families; he understands what they are going through. Mike has the wisdom and experience people need when they are going through a life-changing circumstance like divorce.

Tony and his team did an exceptionally good job working on my disability case, and guiding me through the difficulties of the Social Security system.
The SSA had failed to obtain the proper documentation they had been directed to (they prefer to obtain it themselves), and I was not aware documentswere missing. I was not getting some of my notices from the SSA, and my point of contact at SSA was unreachable and refused to answer voice messages (sixteen separate occasions) - even when I was calling at their "urgent" written instruction.
In one case one of my doctors had attempted to provide documentation numerous times, following instructions provided by SSA, all without success. None of the options provided by the SSA were working.
Tony straightened it all out. He saw the documentation issues and helped to track down and submit everything we needed. He dealt with missing SSA notices and kept me current on the case.
I especially appreciated the rehearsal runs he took time to do with me leading up to the hearing. I have severe PTSD and anxiety, along with brain damage and cognitive difficulties, and this helped me both to be more prepared and to manage my anxiety levels better.
I thought Tony handled the hearing itself extremely well, especially important given my difficulties speaking under stress. I was granted my full disability benefits, and am deeply grateful to Tony and his team for all their help on my case. I highly recommend their services.

We hired Nick Thornton, for our son who was facing Class C Felony charges. Nick was professional, kind honest and truly interested in a good outcome for our son. Our son made a plea deal to serve 6 years. Nick was there for him every step of the way. He answered all of our questions too, and explained things to us clearly and in a manner we could easily understand. When it came time for my son’s sentencing hearing, we had held very little hope the sentence would be reduced by more than one year. Nick fought for our son forcefully and proficiently. He presented extra research to the judge which was the key that changed everything! My son’s sentence was cut in half. It meant so much to us that Nick was as pleased for our son as we were. I first reached out to Nick because of his resume on Avvo. When comparing to other lawyers in the area on this metric, he was a no brainer. For context, I hired him in regards to a drug case. Leading up to my final court date, we had not reached an agreement with the prosecutor and because of this I was facing nine months in jail. Coming into that final day there was a lot of uncertainty, but Nick consistently assured me of his confidence on the law. Although I had my doubts, he came prepared and had certainly done his homework in regards to my specific case. Through extensive argument in court, the judge deemed Nick to be correct and the jail time was reduced to probation. Without him I would likely be writing this review nine months from now. Highly recommend!

I was charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly making threats in the workplace. This event never took place, as I was miles away from the office building at the time when this alleged (fictional) event took place. The allegations was made by a clerical staff with whom I have little contact. There were no witnesses. This delusional fabrication was probably orchestrated by my boss who felt too much competition coming from me, and wanted to have unlimited power. Amazingly, DA's Office decided to pursue the case without an iota of material or any other evidence, based solely on the allegation made by a secretary who has many personal and family issues, a very unhappy and bitter person. Nick collected all the facts, interviewed right people in preparation for the trial. He had several consultations with me, and prepared me well for the case. Scott Brand is an honest lawyer who is worth many times more than his retainer. I was not at first not satisfied by the rural lawyers I came across in McKenzie county or that came up by sponsored links on Google. I found Scott by going to the prosecutor's office in another town, Dickinson, and asking for a private criminal lawyer that they would reccomend. At first I was shocked that the reccomendation to the lawyer was all the way in Fargo. I called him and he agreed to meet with me when I was passing through. At first I was a bit uneasy that the office was 6 hours away from the county in which I was facing charges, but this is normal for North Dakota. I am so glad that I went to Fargo instead of responding to the lawyers out there in that corner of North Dakota. My brother and I went to Scott's office one time and he was courteous and more than professional. Because I live in France, all of the contact was done over phone, mail, or e-mail from this point onwards. A week after this meeting, Scott gained access to the bodycam footage of the officer and it was clear that this was a civil rights violation. The prosecutor still rejected this argument, despite the fact that everything was on camera. Scott drafted some sort of long, complex legal document that was based in North Dakota state case history to fight my case. When he actually appeared in court to defend this document, the prosecutor and police officer were still tenacious. The judge threw out the case, however, and issued a written ruling entirely in agreement with Scott. I got back the entirety of the bail money that I paid to the county and more importantly I have my life back. If I had had to go on probation in North Dakota, who knows what type of problems this would have caused me later on. His retainer is totally worth several times over what he charged. He made it so I never had to appear in court in any hearing or as a witness, so that I did not have to return from France, which would have easily cost several thousand dollars per appearance. For a lawyer, Scott is more than honest. He doesn't overpromise. I felt reassured throughout the whole course of several months. I really don't envision that other lawyers might have been able or even dedicated such an amount of hard work to beat the charges. I don't have a great opinion of lawyers in general and I'm not sure that the other lawyers I had consulted would have not just taken my money and then advised me to take a plea deal to finish everything as fast as possible.
