Gregory is unique in that his superior intellect and relentless work ethic render him more prepared and formidable than anyone. Before I met Gregory, I fired five lazy , incompetent lawyers who were good at nothing except sending bills ( and who ended up hurting my case multiple times through ignorance and/or negligence). After all this I found myself in negative territory. Unconstitutional and unethical judgement had been passed against my case based on 100 percent fabricated, as in unprovable “evidence”, producing disastrous ramifications. This was later confirmed by the appellate court. It seemed day by day the false and very toxic narrative was growing faster and deeper just like a cancer. At the advice of a friend, I went to see Gregory, and my life quickly changed. Within a short time, Gregory and his staff came to me with all the details of my life and what had happened related to my case before they took it over just as if they had lived it right there beside me . They knew the false narrative along with the real truth that was now buried beneath. In every hearing, deposition, pleading, etc. Gregory and his wonderfully astute staff were so well prepared, they left the other team of lawyers looking foolish. Gregory did some incredible things as mentioned below . These accounts illustrate just a few of the absurd conditions Gregory had to rectify. They serve as a testament to how bizarre the fight became. For example, without saying too much Greg very politely pointed out … let’s just say….” irregularities “ in some of the in the actions of the opponent’s nine lawyers. They must have agreed with him because within 24 hours all of them resigned. In another instance he proved in court in front of everyone that an arm of the court had committed perjury 3 times in statements against me . One could have heard a pin drop in that court room! He eliminated other questionable parties in a similar fashion. Once we had a level playing field the tide dramatically turned. In short , ( and very understated here) he won a very complicated custody battle ( spiderweb of lawsuits ) and in so doing changed the course our lives forever. Not only did he expertly mediate all the cases that needed to be settled ( a talent for which he is known), but in the final trial of the final case by using a very unorthodox approach, he sat back with his ingenious strategy and caused the opposing lawyers to unwittingly make it clear for all to see their dishonest assertions. He gave them just enough rope …. and made them regret it. Gregory possesses an extreme drive that causes him to work tirelessly but in the courtroom is where he shines the most with all his talent and brilliance are on full display. Some type of force comes over him and he OWNS the court room with everyone hanging on his every word. His direct and cross examination questions are expertly fashioned with surgical precision. Gregory ruthlessly destroys the opposing side by eloquently and craftily questioning the opposing side’s witnesses, beguiling and /or forcing them into admitting facts against their own side (even the EXPERT witnesses). His carefully chosen staff is perfectly organized ( very talented in their own right ) who deliver not only in the court room but in everything they do. They are armed with meticulous research to back up everything they say. Gregory, et al. could sense our feelings and know what it was like to walk in our shoes at every stage in the fight. Because he changed everything by removing my children from a very unhealthy situation, he is revered and adored by all my family and friends for his excellent judgment and dedication to doing the right thing ( as is all his staff). It’s not only the brilliance and dedicated hard work , it is his drive, passion and seemingly clairvoyant intuition that deliver the victories. Gregory is second to none and for that I am eternally grateful.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this attorney and the people who work at his law firm. The S&N team went above and beyond to protect my daughter and me. When everything is on the line, this is who you want in your corner. Shamoun’s experience, legal expertise, strategic and highly aggressive approach are top level in every respect. He is one of the few that does what he says and has the ability to make things happen. His advice is invaluable. I would absolutely recommend him for any legal issue.

This firm contracted me to work as an expert witness. Both sides signed the contract, I worked for about a month, providing only about 5 hours of service reading court documents, having conversations with several S&N attorneys about the positions and strategy for the particular IP case I was hired for. They reported to be satisfied with my work. I submitted my invoice but it was never paid. They told me the case had been transferred to a different law firm. I responded that my contract was with them, and the work was performed with them. They agreed, said they would process my payment. They have not paid and ceased communications with me. I have all this documented with contracts and emails. The Texas Bar has provided no help, saying it is not in their jurisdiction. I live in San Diego, so it's not cost effective for me to pursue via small claims court, the invoice being only about $1,500. This firm should be avoided since they have proven to be unethical.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
