Chris Doskocil is the best attorney I've ever interacted with, and stands out against the stereotypes of lawyers. I had a small claims case that never should have went to court. Chris tried to remedy it before he'd even accept payment, and then diligently pursued the case despite how petty it had become. Ultimately, he won both the initial petition and had the frivolous countersuit dismissed, not only proving our case, but doing some last-minute research to defend my family against the bogus countersuit. I fully intend to work with Chris next time I need legal assistance. Best lawyer I've ever worked with!

My son had a horrible law firm that was not representing him well. My husband found Mr. Doskocil for my son. He is a wonderful, caring, straight forward lawyer that will fight for you like you are a part of his family. I recommend him to every one looking.

I had never met Chris before, but I was in need of family law lawyer to represent me at a upcoming court hearing , with a judge in Hillsboro , which I was dreading going to. I google searched and Chris. After calling explaining my situation to him , he reassured me he would be there to represent me, and basically to relax and let him handle it . Not only did he handle the legal aspect of it all, but he did it in a manner that I did not even have to appear in court. He was very thorough, detailed, respectful, and very efficient with his time ( and my money). He has a ,"Can Do" attitude , which I really liked. I would HIGHLY recommend Chris , and I will be hiring him again if the need arises.

Mr. Dawdy is an excellent lawyer. When we needed legal advise and help he was able to let us know what we were expected to do and kept us informed all the way. Not really knowing the legal system and court system he kept us informed at all times as to what we could expect and what was expected of us. He was very professional but at the same time, kept us at ease. This was a difficult time for us and he made the process much easier for us.

I began using Vern Dawdy for all of my personal and business needs beginning approximately 35 years ago. He possesses great communication skills and is an excellent litigator. I’ve found him easy to contact and he always returns my calls on a timely basis. I’ve found him straightforward and realistic regarding possible outcomes on my cases. Additionally he possesses a gift for writing contracts, as verified in litigation. In conclusion if Mr. Dawdy weren’t the best he wouldn’t still represent me after all of these years.

Mr. Dawdy is a fantastic lawyer. He is well renowned in the legal community and sits on the state board of ethics. He is a no nonsense "straight shooter" who is not afraid to "roll up his sleeves" and work for you. Whereas many lawyers wont let their client have a say in their OWN case . Mr. Dawdy will listen to you, advise you on your options, and let you make the final decisions, if you so chose. Mr. Dawdy's down to earth and humble demeanor is very refreshing in the legal community. Mr. Dawdy is a fantastic "partner" to have on your legal team. Oftentimes he will work well into the evenings making sure his clients are taken care of. Mr. Dawdys experience is second-to-none. He has seen it all, and is a fantastic ally to have advocating for you. I would highly recommend Mr. Dawdy to anyone (especially a father wanting a fair go in family court).

Lauren and her paralegal, Penelope, are truly remarkable people. They gave me a voice when I needed to be heard. Their knowledge and professionalism alone (with their commitment to a cause) makes them a force to be reckoned with. Thank you both for the incredible effort you put forth on my behalf!

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:

    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
