I would like to say that Bruce Lanser helped guide us through the bancrupcy process. He made it very clear what we had to do and what we could expect. He is very professional and everything went very smooth. Answered all our questions. Our bancrupcy from start to finish was less than six months. I would recommend Lanser Law to anyone in need of a bancrupcy attorney.

Bruce did a fantastic job representing me in a VERY complicated bankruptcy case. He took the time to get to know and understand me, and all the intricacies of my businesses. Throughout the whole process he was very organized and gave me detailed lists of what was needed for our next meeting. This was helpful as there was a lot of things I needed to keep track of and with so many moving parts it helped me stay focused. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who has to make such a big life decision, he will guide you along the way.

Garet is a gifted and creative lawyer. He was able to see how my original pending patent was created from a large firm and why it was getting denied! This can be a very frustrating process and needed a new lawyer. After hiring Garet to be my new attorney, his knowledge and experience got the job done!!! I RECEIVED MY PATENT!!! I can’t thank him enough and almost gave up on the process! Don’t give up …find the right attorney !

Attorneys Tim Langer and Edith Petersen are highly skilled lawyers that I and my family have used for a variety of matters, including real estate, contracts, estate management and settlement, and personal injury. Our results have always been outstanding, and their fees are reasonable. I could not be more pleased with their services.

Mr. Fayban is always available to answer any questions you may have regarding your divorce. He is extremely knowledgeable and you can rely on his advice. He fought for me and wouldn't back down in my divorce. I ended up getting almost everything I was asking for in very little time. He saved me a lot of money by resolving issues and negotiating with my ex and his lawyer. He will offer you options as to what you are asking for and is it worth the money you will pay in legal fees. Once you decide what is worth fighting for, Mr Fayban will defend you without backing down. I would highly recommend him.

After 4,000.00 paid to Lisa months of pointless emails, phone calls, and 2 court appearances that were maybe 10 minutes long I received another bill for 900.00!!!!! All I got was a recommendation to sign a stipulation giving me even less time with my kids!!! I wasnt wasting anymore money on someone who has no empathy and doesnt fight for her clients. All she cares about is money that's all her clients are to her. I'm disappointed and I am now retaining a new lawyer for 3,500 in Hope's that shell do a better job and actually care.

I hired Lisa for my divorce proceedings and wasn't happy with her representation. Many hours billed were spent creating conflict with ex-husbands lawyer. Instead of working hard to get me my fair share she increased the conflict to the point we needed mediation to resolve it. I never felt like Lisa was invested in looking out for my best interests. When the other side would propose solutions that weren't in my best interest, Lisa wouldn't explain to me how it would negatively impact my settlement, she was to busy arguing with my ex's lawyer. She seemed most interested in maximizing her billable hours and my actual fair settlement didn't seem a priority. Towards the end of my case I had to tell her not to speak to my ex's lawyer without my authorization due to her indiscriminately communicating with his lawyer, getting in disputes, and charging me for them -- and then I would be charged when she would call and tell me about them. Nothing ever got accomplished when Lisa spoke directly to the other lawyer. I've subsequently learned more about the opposing lawyer and have been told they are very reasonable and there was no good reason why my lawyer couldn't work with them. Also subsequently I now see all the areas where Lisa failed me in my divorce settlement. My ex-husband lawyer charged almost 1/2 of Lisa's hourly fee and he got much better representation than I did. The Marriage Settlement Agreement Lisa wrote was so poorly written that I couldn't use the document in court to enforce the settlement. It had way too many holes and mistakes. Disappointment doesn't describe my feelings or loses.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
