Jeremy was absolutely amazing. My husband and I needed a Trust made in a short period of time and Jeremy made it happen. He was professional, knowledgeable, and personable. He talked us through everything, answered all our questions, and was quick with responses. If you're in need of a good lawyer to help you Estate Plan, build a Trust, or I'd imagine anything legally, look no further. Jeremy is the best in Tahoe.

Rob was patient and informative every step of the way during our FDD creation. We had to use his FDD and franchise agreement in a dispute.... and you never truly know how good your contract is until you need to defend it. We had local attorneys here in Charlotte N.C. that won at every turn with Rob's documents and the way that Rob had drafted them! Literally kept us in business!!

Rob Vinson has been the absolute key to our success with franchising. We know our business inside and out; however, franchising is a completely separate business with many obstacles that you will never anticipate. We have been doing business with Mr. Vinson for more than 14 years and he has been a life saver. He provides detailed breakdowns of any situation you may face as well as support every step of the way. We have faced some very interesting challenges and, with Rob Vinson’s help, we have come away from all of them smoothly. We have learned so much from him and are so entirely grateful for his dedication, prompt responses, and detailed support. If you are looking for someone to take stress off your shoulders, guide you through any franchise situation, and protect your brand, he should be your only choice. We have a great deal of admiration and respect for Mr. Vinson.

Mr. Burau is perhaps the finest estate planning attorney that our family has had the opportunity to work with. His knowledge, caring and professionalism is what all attorneys should model themselves to achieve. Our company and family recommend Mr. Burau with the highest degree of confidence that he will advance and protect your assets while guiding you through the maze of laws that govern this field of law. Thank you Jim......

We operate an elevator business in California and had reincorporated in Nevada. A snafu with the California State Contractor's Licensing Board threatened us with having to shut down our operations for a period of several weeks. Even though this was an out of state issue, Andy quickly researched the applicable laws and regulations to find a way out of our dilemma, allowing us to continue in business uninterrupted. Extremely knowledgeable and responsive.

Andrew meticulously reviewed complex real estate purchase documents that included issues such as buoy ownership, survey issues and land coverage discrepancies from a property that had seen decades of modifications. He clearly explained the issues and negotiated on our behalf to bring both sides to a satisfactory agreement and helped consummate the sale.

Andy Wolf is one of the most intelligent people I have every had the privilege of working with. He thinks through every issue, sees it from all sides, and looks at all the possibilities. He uses common sense in everything he does. Andy has an amazing memory for facts and case numbers, as well as everything that was said from phone conversations to depositions to in court testimony. He looks out for his clients' best interest while giving every facet of a case consideration.

Deirdre Kelly was very professional, supportive and honest with me while dealing with my case. She quickly gained my trust, didn't tell me what I wanted to hear and from the beginning was very knowledgeable about the laws pertaining to my case. She was very responsive, always kept me up to date and informed on exactly what was going on and what I could expect. From the get go I was confident I had made the right decision to Have Deirdre Kelly represent me as defense attorney.

I worked there and can personally say from the "inside" these are responsible attorneys who do NOT farm out legal work to secretaries, as some law firms do, in my experience. If you are seeking true, honest, attorneys -- these are good people. I only left because of ridiculous commute on Mt Rose Hwy where a car a week went over the cliff on the drive back to Reno, in good dry summer weather! Drivers coming up on the curves drive too fast, lose control a bit on a curve, & an oncoming car (on the cliff side) has no where to go.

Cassell von Baeyer with Incline Law Group has been my Real Estate attorney for several years. She has given me expert advice and counsel on multiple real estate issues. She is very accessible and responsive. Recently we worked on a project that was very complicated. It also needed to be handled expeditiously due filing deadlines. Cassell jumped on the project, helped me understand all of the issues and made recommendations that would a win-win solution for me and the other parties. She contacted the parties and negotiated a very successful outcome. I know it is hard to decide when you are looking for an attorney. Cassell was actually referred to me by a realtor that I highly respect. I am so glad I contacted her. Even though we have only talked on the phone since I live in Florida, we hit it off immediately. I have always been treated like a priority with her and her office staff. And the highly successful outcome on a very technical real estate problem speaks volumes about her expertise and commitment to help! If you are in need of a real estate or business attorney, please give Cassell a call! You will be glad you did!

Hired Susanna for a probate case wherein she repeatedly made mistakes causing one costly delay after another. She was not satisfied with being paid the total statutory fees for our case, but instead attempted to seek an additional $15,000 in extraordinary fees for services she never provided. Thankfully the Judge shut her down!

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.

Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
