From the Moment I walked in the door to the Moment I stepped out, I had the Most Amazing experience Ever at a lawyer's office. They're Very Professional and Kay went above and beyond to help me and my significant other. They Also understand times are tough for Some people and TRY their Best to accommodate Your needs No Matter What. I can't say Enough Amazing things about John K Clark Jr to express the gratitude I have. They also do All kinds of different types of cases, injuries, wrongful death, criminal, civil, etc. You name it, he Will get your needs met!!! My Most Recommended Review on here & that's Hands Down.

This guy is an absolute shame of an attorney. I've been represented through the court by him in two separate misdemeanor criminal case's and he tried his hardest to get me to plead guilty. As he claimed my cases was unbeatable and 5 yrs probation was the best he could get me. Ironically I hired both of these cases out to another attorney in the county and the were dismissed within a month each. Now why couldn't Mr. Clark do the same as another attorney was easily able to do almost immediately after being hired?

Gene Meadows is not a very good attorney. I have called Gene to talk to him about my man’s case not only have I been calling him my man’s dad has been calling him too and we can’t get a hold of him nor will he return our phone calls. Gene won’t go and see my man and talk to him about his case. Won’t contact any of us to tell us what is going on with the case. He won’t respond to the Letters my man has sent him.

He will go to work for you and doesn't care to go to Trial whether it might be a Winning or Losing Case for that matter if your telling him to Box it up anyway, he will bang heads... I believe he has a great workload on a Consistent basis being a Court Appointed Attorney( Greater Caseload than most too ). Being so, he is very hard to get a hold of pretty much always. He does Study and Research your case pretty well as far as I could tell with my Case. And it was a Felony-1, a Felony-2, and a Felony-3 a total 24 years Max combined, so some pretty serious Criminal Charges. He will file any Motions you desire and he'll not file any Motions that need to not be filed either... So, all-in-all he is one of the better Court Appointed Attorney's that you could be stuck with as far as Court Appointed Attorney's go, Hell your chances of getting a Bad or even Horrible Court Appointed Attorney is at a good 75% - 80% chance of getting Bad or Horrible so with that being said you fare pretty damn good for real with Gene if your not paying a Good - Damn Good pricey Lawyer like Rick Nash or Rick Faulkner maybe even... So trust me, it could definately be a lot worse than Gene Meadows boy's and girl's... Something like an Aaron "Triple Time" Triplett possibly... Then all Hope is completely LOST so, stick with Gene all the way 'til the END unless something awful might occur between Gene and your current Case and you would feel better off representing yourself of course...

Met with Mr. Cole regarding two issues -- a contractual agreement and probating an estate. Delivered all requested materials within 48 hours of the consultation. Did not receive the fee agreement until more than 4 weeks after the consultation even after two phone calls and a personal visit to the office. Once I did receive the fee agreement, I again tried calling him twice and stopped in again regarding clarification on the fee agreement. It was drafted to address only one of the two issues. During the second follow up call, his assistant informed me Mr. Cole did not feel it was appropriate for him to draft the contractual agreement since it would be used out of state in Georgia. This was six weeks after the consultation when he never mentioned any concern over drafting the agreement during the consultation. During the in-person visit to his office, the staff was quick to push for a signed fee agreement and payment of the waiver. I explained my concerns over lack of communication and asked Mr. Cole to call me within 24 hours, which he did not. The lack of timely communication over a two month period led me to decide on retaining other counsel. Given the poor service provided, I cannot recommend him for any legal work.

This woman threw my Husband's court case. She didn't try at all, she wasn't communicative, she wasn't reliable, she never allowed him to make his side of the case, she never sat down and actually spoke with him. I whole heartedly believe if she actually did her job that I would still have my family. Instead, I'm childless, husbandless, and homeless because she had one job and blew it entirely. I would never in my life recommend this lawyer to anyone who wants to win a case. There was no evidence against my husband other than hearsay and she never once fought that point. She literally didn't do anything but sit there. If it was able to give 0 stars, I would.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
