I retained Scott in April of 2021 for a divorce. I kept my situation with my spouse a secret from family and friends. I didn't know where to go or who to retain. I consulted with Scott because he is board certified in family law. I found my situation emotionally difficult and I had a hard time thinking clearly and logically. Scott helped me think of things that I would have never thought of without the guidance of an attorney.

Mr. Stover represented my husband and me in a custody case concerning our grandchild. It was a very emotional situation for us, and Mr. Stover understood our fears and anxiety, taking the time to offer a calm reassurance and advice when it was badly needed. He was always prompt with correspondence and kept us abreast of all aspects of our case, and his staff was also welcoming and extremely helpful. Mr. Stover's demeanor in the courtroom was that of utmost professionalism, bringing all of our concerns to the judge's attention, and the outcome we received was more than we had even hoped for. Mr. Stover always made us feel that he was completely committed to helping us resolve our issue, and he was the perfect lawyer for our needs. I would use him again without hesitation.

Blair Bisbey is an outstanding attorney. He goes above and beyond to get the job done promptly, honestly, and with integrity. You know how so many lawyers just exude "sleazebag money-sucker?" Mr. Bisbey is the antithesis of that and is genuinely kind and empathetic. He literally got my life back on track after I'd been strung along for years by terrible doctors appointed to me by my terrible workers' compensation company. He pulled me up out of that hole that I'd been stuck in for 6 years and did so within a matter of a few months. I'm so impressed with his work; I can't recommend him enough.

Mr. Bisbey has proved himself over and over to myself and my husband as being the BEST ATTORNEY around - he is very trustworthy, reliable, decent and knowledgeable and this is hard to find. He cares about his clients and always looks out for them. You can trust him. Can't say that about many attorneys as was the case he just handle - a real estate transaction wherein we were the lien holders of a note and were supposed to have been paid at the time of the closing but this did not happen because the other attorney failed to collect our money and gave all the proceeds to his clients knowing that we had a first lien on the property. Well a week later Mr. Bisbey had our money. Thanks for being there for us.

Mr. Sibley stood firm helping me to protect my only child from an abusive mother and her generationally child abusive family. Mr. Sibley stood firm for nine years, even when threatened with BAR sanctions by corrupt family court attorneys and judges, including the infamous child beating judge, William Adams. Here are some of the battles we fought to protect my child that helped to improve the path for other parents and children: Psychologists were sanctioned; a judge removed from state benches; five social workers sanctioned by the state and their clinic sanctioned by the Feds; a visitation center shut down through Federal Court action; other family law attorneys forced to admit to their abuse of my child, false reports made to the court and fraudulent billings submitted to the courts. Mr. Sibley was supportive throughout. And, that is only the tip of the iceberg of the battles fought trying to protect my child. Mr. Sibley did not run as others had before him when corrupt family law politics kept my child around her abusers even where there were convictions of those abusers. I am extremely well documented and can provide names, dates, times, transcripts and other public records to support my statements.

A wise man once said, “Make of yourself an honest man, and there will be one rascal fewer in the world.” It’s people like Mr. Sibley who courageously uphold truth and defend justice which bring hope to a judiciary tainted by corruption. Mr. Sibley is a good man and a good lawyer. He is experienced and smart. Despite how you may feel about lawyers, at some point in our lives we may find ourselves needing their assistance. It a rarity to find one whom you can trust and one who will represent your interest’s zealously. Mr. Sibley represented me on a child custody case a few years ago that had become unduly complex from the intentional mishandling and incompetence of a previous attorney. Mr. Sibley agreed to take my case and did everything he could to make things right. Despite attempts to stop him, Mr. Sibley defended my rights and that of my child because it was the right thing to do. I am grateful for the effort put forth to reverse damage caused by the opposing parties involved. He was there in my darkest hour and I’ll always be thankful to God for everything he sacrificed in defending my case. Mr. Sibley is the true definition of a lawyer (someone who knows the law, puts forth their best thinking and most courageous efforts and a fervent prayer to the task as a true lawyer should).

If his defense skills are anything like his presiding judges skills I would highly recommend that you do NOT use him. He's a pawn for the jasper poolice department and is horrible at seeing the truth. He does whatever officer Peter's tells him to do. He can't do what is right unless Peter's allows it. He allows others to make his decisions bc he doesn't have the backbone to do what's right if it's not what the people who co.trol him wants

I dealt with Mr Jackson through his Jackson Abstract & Title Company where he is the attorney who decides what additional paperwork needs to be created. We had POA already created using the Tx Bar Template. Mr Jackson wouldn't accept and required we pay him an additional fee to recreate from the same source -- he wouldn't/couldn't advise what our document was missing. His staff advised we needed additional documents that had not been needed with other properties sold and defied normal logic and legal need. They claimed docs were just for their records but in the end we paid to have them all recorded. Additionally, it took over 10 weeks to process title. Mr Jackson would only speak through his staff and then only after 2-3 calls in. Staff would advise they would check with him and call back. They didn't. Getting documents returned required 4 calls in to office.

In june 2019 my wallet was stollen. Video clearly shows it. Report filed same day. Very next day the perpetrator was identified during a city p.d. stop. Was given the opportunity to get the wallet and contents returned. Only through my persistent inquiries about the case the detectives decided to go out and get him, charge him and lock him up. Here it is 2yrs later. I phoned the DA office this morning to inquire about a trial date. Was informed that the perpetrator was no longer living! When where you planning on informing the victom in this?

My daughter who was 1 yrs old at the time was punched in the head by her own mother. We were transported to the emergency room and treated for her injuries. The D.A. rejected the case after sitting on it for a year and a half. How can this be??? Jasper county D.A. is not doing the job and serving justice appropriately. Just because her daddy has money. Time to expose the county's corruption and protest these no good people out of office.

Please dont let this attorneys YEARS OF EXPERIENCE fool you. This attorney was hired to do some expunctions on case that were dismissed. He was hired almost 2 months ago and this man never appeared before the judge to get the documentation signed so that the information would be sent to the appropriate agencies to expunge the data. It is my opinion this attorney is forgetful, not assertive, compassionate or professional.LEAVE HIM ALONE!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
