If you're in the Ft. Riley area and especially have an uncontested divorce ie: no children/property disputes he does his services for half the rate of anyone else and I even paid an extra 100.00 for an emergency divorce and was concluded within a week of filing.

Let me start off by saying that you will NOT be disappointment in hiring Mr. Pinaire. He is a patriotic man who support the military and its Veterans. His ability to shift tactics, his tactical patience and his understanding in Law is top tier. He knows the environment, the attorneys and their tactics and is able to successfully formulate a plan that will achieve a winning outcome. At the time I felt vulnerable and helpless and Mr. Pinaire showed respect and compassion. I was not just another client when under his representation; I was a man, a father, someone’s son… a human. I called and visited numerous times either frustrated or at most times broken down in tears as this custody battle and divorce was when I was at my lowest. Never was I charged for these visits, I was quoted a price for each case and he kept to that agreement. Many attorneys’ nickel and dime to respond to messages, reply to emails, but not Mr. Pinaire. In closing, do your research on who you hire, your representation can and will literally change the outcome of your life and your future. I would hire Mr. Pinaire in any legal situation where he practices in.

Poor attorney and she can't be located nor will she return my attempts to reach her. In my opinion she was bullied, unprepared, not knowledgable enough to handle my situation and was left to burden on my own. Thanks

I enthusiastically recommend Ms. Krista Blaisdell to anyone in need of DUI or criminal defense in the Junction City area. She is partners with well known criminal and DUI defense attorneys Tom Addair and John Thurston from Addair - Thurston Law Firm. I was charged with a DUI regarding medications and she diligently fought and won my case. She is a straight-shooter and will tell you both the good and the bad about your case and about the possible outcomes regarding your charges. I interviewed several other law firms in Junction City, and I didn’t feel that they were aggressive enough for my case. After our initial consult and I explained my circumstances, I felt confident that Krista would represent me adequately and aggressively, which she did. If you have been charged with a DUI, regardless if its alcohol related or not, you have a very small window of opportunity to file an appeal with the driver’s license bureau, or your license is automatically suspended. I would definitely recommend a DUI attorney for this. I liked the fact that Krista didn’t just look for some technicality to win my case, she also looked at the facts and evidence (or lack of) presented by the prosecutor’s office. Using that and her background with law enforcement, she was able to fight a fair fight and win. I felt that I was always informed and encouraged to call her when needed if I had any questions or concerns. She charged me a flat rate fee that included going to trial, and if necessary, all the way to the appellate court if I lost the case.

Do not use this guy . He’s friendly yes , but doesn’t put in any effort to do the proper research or be aggressive in court when needed. Instead you are are the one running around doing the research on the defendant. He’s not knowledgeable with the laws when it comes to the military and child custody arrangements. He doesn’t assist you after the case if you have any questions . Don’t waste your money , find someone that actually cares about their job. He’s been doing this for so long that he’s complacent and not up to date with current laws.

Her knowledge of the law is so-so and she tends to drag cases out to get more money by continually claiming she needs more information. If you are looking for a lawyer with no Ethics that you just want to give money too then Amy is the lawyer for you. If you want a lawyer that has Ethics, will accomplish settling matters in the quickest most efficient way look somewhere else. I was embarrassed to have hired a lawyer who often acted like she was a teenager back in high school talking back to the teacher. No class and not professional.

Didn't help one bit or fight anything! She just agreed to what ever the other lawyer wanted! We would have been better off doing this without a lawyer. She said alimony in kansas is mandatory but I found a bunch of articles saying it is not and saying the guidelines for the other to not receive alimony. Amy then changed her story after we e mailed her the articles and said we have to pay because the court ordered it! Didn't try to fight it what so ever! Defiantly finding a new lawyer and starting all over again. Waste of time and money!!

She will pretend to help and care and give you advice so you will pay the retainer and hire her. Then she will do nothing but soak up the money you give her. She never fought for the best interest of my children or family the only thing she did was get money from an already strapped family! Trust me her best interest is her and taking your money. Run Far Away! You will loose with her. She will do no work for you and take every dime she can. She offers a payment plan for her terrible service. Isn't that nice of her?

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
