Divorce is never easy but I Would not have trusted someone more with the process. There was alway clear communication between the office and myself. Kai is easy to talk to and ready to get to work in coming up with the best solutions in resolving issue. The resources I received were beneficial in addition to Kai input. Thanks again for making a difficult process a bit easier.

Through an extremely difficult time in my family's life, Kai provided sage counsel, compassion, integrity, and thorough representation - start to finish. The atmosphere of the office was not only professional but client-oriented; one did not enter and was made to feel less of a person in front of an inflated lawyer as most tend to be. Kai is a wonderful human being first and foremost with a profound understanding of law. As such, she treated my family and myself as people with a need to understand law in terms of simplistic explanations without talking down to us or over our heads. Anyone in search of a lawyer who will listen, who will provide exceptional counsel as well as a solid support need not look any further than Kai and her staff - they are the difference between lawyers that listen and lawyers that do not. To better help a future client considering Kai, only an entitled person would leave derogatory reviews. Kai is the lawyer that WILL navigate you based on YOUR best interests because she is professional, thorough, and genuinely cares for her clients. It is with the highest recommendation I encourage others to have Kai Groenke represent them.

I was in a wreck and not only was my husband injured, but my new Jeep was totaled. The insurance company wouldn’t pay for my Jeep because of “depreciation”, and I ended up getting sued by the finance company! Evan went after them for me and got the whole case resolved. Had their case thrown out of court. He didn’t even charge me. I would definitely recommend Danno Law Firm in Kalispell if you have an accident or a problem with an insurance company. Michelle Aquino

I was attacked and bitten by a vicious german shepard while at a friends house. I hired Evan Danno, who tracked down the owner of the dog and filed a claim with his homeowners insurance company. Evan and Kimber took care of all of my medical bills and the entire claim. My hand was permanently deformed from the bites, and they had the insurance company pay for all of that, plus my fear and emotional distress in the settlement. This is the “go to” firm if you need a personal injury lawyer! Deborah Strozzi A couple years after my dog attack, I was rear ended by a truck on the highway and my whole right side was injured. My truck was out of commission. I hired Danno Law Firm again. Evan and his paralegal, Kimber, got me a rental truck for over a month, got my mediccal bills paid, required the insurance company to pay my lost wages periodically, and got a good settlement for my pain and suffering. They were both very compassionate and helpful in dealing with my injuries, hospital and medical billings, and the three insurance companies involved in the case. I didn’t even have to go to court. They were on top of my claim from beginning to end. Thanks also for helping me deal with the emotional pain and suffering, and for answering all my questions. I highly recommend them for any legal help needed. Deborah Strozzi

I had several meetings with Kraig discussing the merit of pursuing a personal injury claim due to a rear end collision I was unfortunately involved in. Kraig was super patient with me explaining the process with the at fault insurance company. He was very candid about was it in my best interest to hire him, or not, he continued on to give me some very helpful free legal advice ,I even offered to pay for his time, but he declined. I found Kraig to be a genuine individual . I would not hesitate a moment to refer him to family or friends!

How refreshing. We had a ton of questions for a Workman's Comp/Retirement issue and only had one day in which to make our decision. We called Kraig late in the day on a Thursday afternoon and he was beyond patient with us plus took the time to explain everything in great detail. He explained that in our particular case we probably wouldn't come out ahead to hire him, but did give us tips on how to negotiate ourselves with Workman's Comp. Who does that? He did not try to up sell us, sign us or give us grandiose expectations, simply straight talked and gave us our best options. Thank you Kraig. We choose your law firm at random from internet listings but will recommend and choose your law firm in the future because of your compassion and the professional interaction we had with you. My husband even commented how nice it was you didn't seem like you were trying to get rid of us once it was determined we weren't hiring you. It is really stressful trying to figure all the Social Security, Retirement, Workman's Comp, etc. for a lay person; you answered all our questions and then some plus eased our minds that we were making the right decision. Highly recommend.

When she was a public defender with a huge caseload, she always had time understood everything. I was struck by how intelligent she was. I drove without a license but I was signing my daughter up for hot lunch and it was too far to walk especially in winter time. I've never had a dui it was just unpaid fines, anyways have a license now and drive a 2017 Honda Accord Sport now. She fought like Johnny Cochran knew the law like F Lee Bailey. Seriously it was like watching the Michael Jordan of the 90s destroy everyone, Thats here in court i haven't found someone better on YouTube, T.V. or any other medium. At the end of the trail I had no fees, and the court understood. I couldn't believe it! A Public Defender was the Babe Ruth of law. I could go on, and on, but I have a life just like people to know about Mrs Rapkock. You're welcome.

A couple months later I started experiencing symptoms which my chiropractor called dormant injury and said was common. I hired Becky Henning and even though I waited a couple months she was able to get the insurance company to pay for all my medical bills plus a lump sum of cash. Thanks Becky!

I contacted the law firm after many attempts to other firms that denied my claim. I had an over the phone consult and within no time I was asked to come in and have a meeting with them. I instantly felt relief with them, they made me feel comfortable and content. They worked so hard on my case and kept me up to date with all the details. They won my case when no other firm would take the time to care. I would highly recommend Rebecca and her firm they truly treat you like family.

Andrea represented me in my divorce a couple years ago. She was professional, easy to work with, and good at both mediation and going to court. We were able to settle the parenting part of the case in mediation, and I felt she did a great job representing my interests there. She was knowledgeable about the law and did a good job of informing me of my options while checking to see how I felt about things. I am very happy with the parenting plan we came up with. We ended up going to court on property and she was prepared, knowledgeable, and nothing short of a zealous advocate for my interests. We got a great result. I highly recommend her to anyone that needs legal counsel.

The situation began in July when we met with a Gravis attorney to update our estate documents which they had provided several years earlier, because we had moved and thought that it would be a good idea to update our address and phone numbers. We figured that request would be a simple task and we paid $200 for that meeting. At that time we were told that a paralegal would update the address and phone numbers and call us in a couple weeks to set a signing date. A month later we received an invoice for $160, which we assumed was the paralegal charge for updating the documents, but we were not notified to set a signing date. The next couple of months we called the Gravis office several times regarding a signing date, but they were not available and didn’t return our calls. Finally in November a paralegal called to set a signing date and emailed us the documents to review before the signing date. When we reviewed the documents we noticed places where the address and phone numbers were not updated, so we had to return the email and note the errors for correction. After the signing we were shocked to received the invoice for $1450. The invoice included a charge for attorney time which we consider not necessary, a second paralegal charge to update our address and phone numbers, a paralegal charge for time to correct their errors, and charges for digital copies which we never received. We sent the Gravis attorney a complaint letter but never received a response. We considered fee arbitration, but the cost of an arbitration attorney would probably be several hundred dollars which we can’t afford. We believe that we only owe the time required to meet and sign the updated documents.

Worst law firm I’ve ever used. Trying to get hold of them on the phone was like winning the lottery. If I had £1 for every time I was told I would get a call back I wouldn’t need to win the lottery. Very unprofessional firm, never kept me updated and they dragged a case out so long it ended up be closed as it went passed the date threshold. Avoid at all costs!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
