Mr. Paupe is one of few lawyers who processes a solid legal knowledge with integrity. My trust case was bumped by other senior lawyers since it was a little different from what they do or they cannot make money from my small case. But when Mr. Paupe heard my request, he showed his genius intent to offer help to me . He had down -to-earth personality traits, telling me what he thought about my case without any hesitation. He did fast research and mentored me through a legal jungle. The legal service provided by him makes my life much easier!

William Paupe recently set up our revocable Family Trust and Estate Planning Documents. All was done in a very consumer friendly and professional way. William Paupe explained everything very well in conversation and writing. We received all the documents in a beautiful solid folder all was indexed and perfectly organized. I was involved with lawyers for other relative's Trusts before, but this time it was done the best . And you can't beat the price!

In my case, the law, as written in the law books are being by passed by judges as they are pro banks. Melodie has her hands full in situations such as mine. She has found the proof that shows the Judges are in direct violation of the Law, and imposing their own interpretations of the laws, which are violating people's rights, and stripping them of their properties. Yet Melodie is there, fighting against all odds . . .

A company had referred us to her because she had worked with them in similar cases before. I don't recommend her only because she did not give us clear answers and we ended up paying her for more services because she would say we would have this option and that option if this appeal failed. She had left us in the dark--didn't notify us of hearings or court notices. We had tried calling her to get verification and information on how the case was going and received vague answers. Because we weren't familiar with the legal jargon and processes we had a very hands-off approach and would call to check on the progress. While we received the referral late in the case, it would have been nice to be kept updated instead of being told that things were filed or processed against us that we were unaware of. We didn't receive notices in mail or email and so we thought things were going well. After some time we'd call in with whether we'd be able to do something and she'd return saying that wouldn't be possible because this was filed against you. She went on to say this was filed at this date, but she had not notified of this. We felt like there was a lot of pertinent information necessary to our daily lives that we were not made aware of. She would have been able to solve our problems if she had done her due diligence and gotten her paperwork ready prior to speaking in court. We found later that her defense used paperwork she didn't have and so instead, our case became a long drawn out process with more money having to be paid out.

This attorney handled our landlord tenant case. Involved within this case was a no contact order approved by the judge against some tenants that were terribly disruptive, threatening, and who caused physical injury to our non-aggressive friendly French Bulldog. Ms. Voss did win our case for us, but she failed to have our daughter's name, who was a minor at the time, redacted from the files or sealed altogether. When we realized this we went back to her asking her to do so, and she refused to "take our case". Okay wait, you erred to begin with causing potential future harm to our child, and you refuse to make it right indicating this is a case you don't care to take? This is, in our opinion, beyond unprofessional and careless. If we could have given her no stars, we would have. She is why the profession has such a bad reputation.

Ms. Voss represented my ex during our divorce process... At my ex wife's expense, she successfully negotiated my pre counsel offer down to to about half of my initial offer after about 10 months of incurring legal fees for both parties. If you're looking for an attorney to recommend to a future ex, I would strongly suggest Ms. Voss if the financial settlement means anything to you.

From the beginning she was unorganized. Prepared worksheets that were confusing andhard to understand. She would only meet at a zippys location and never at her office. Whenever we had questions about our case she was always too busy to get back to us and will try to fit us in. She is awful.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
