When hiring a lawyer, it's most often never a "great" moment in your life. David Franks has stood by me through the most awful moments of my life. Never once have I felt that Mr. Franks is "in it for the money". I honestly believe Mr. Franks CARES about each and every client he represents. Yes, he can be a bit snippy at times, but that only happens if you are trying to tell him how to do his job. When I first (yes, first) hired Mr. Franks, I was a mess. Scared to death. Question after question and doubt after doubt. Mr. Franks has been a successful lawyer since 1989! Believe me, this man knows EXACTLY what he's doing so please take my advice (young, first time offenders, especially) and let him do his job. He WILL do EVERYTHING possible to help you. It may take a VERY long time to get through your case, try to be patient and always keep in mind that Mr. Franks has his own strategy. Don't question it. Let him do what HE thinks is best for you. Dimitri and Marlowe- Mr. Franks' paralegals, have always been very helpful and understanding. David has been a wonderful lawyer and confidant throughout ALL my legal matters and I would NEVER recommend anyone else but him for their legal matters (provided Mr. Franks works with their particular legal issues) If not, please check their website. They have other lawyers on staff that work in different areas of the law- including divorce. WWW.FnRlaw.com. The reason I feel so strongly about Franks & Rechenberg is because (unfortunately) my relationship with their firm dates way back. I know them very well and they know me. Please trust me when I say you cannot go wrong when hiring from this firm. They are truly there to HELP you. That is VERY difficult to find these days. My best of luck to all of you that are in need of legal assistance. It is a very long, stressful time of your life. David Franks tries his best to take that load of stress OFF of your back and onto his. I believe he does this with every client he represents. To say this lawyer is "too expensive" is absolutely ridiculous. David Franks' dedication to his career vs. what he charges proves this is not about money. It is about the fight for what is fair.

David Franks helped us to deal with criminal charges involving our minor son struggling with a drug addiction. We were extremely happy with his willingness to talk to us as his parents and to keep us informed of everything that was going on. He really advocated for our son to keep him out of jail and make sure he received the treatment he needed and have a second chance in life. He was kind and professional under the most difficult circumstances and we are very grateful for his expertise and his helpfulness. We highly recommend David Franks if you need a criminal attorney.

Jackson and the staff at Barnett Law Offices went above and beyond to help navigate the process to gain a Class I medical certificate for my son who was diagnosed with ADHD. He was graduating high school and wanted to become a pilot. We had no idea that a diagnosis from third grade and medication he had taken could keep him from getting a medical clearance. Jackson calmed our nerves and connected us with all the right physicians. Over Christmas break from college, my son did receive his certificate. There is no way that we could have navigated the process on our own. Thank you, Barnett Law Offices!

Zero morals, barely paid any attention to my case, advocates for abusers as opposed to his own clients. Seems to not even understand how the legal system works. Total waste of money. DO NOT USE.

I cannot recommend the services of James Andrle. I retained Mr. Andrle in July to help my son with his child custody case. My son and I were getting frustrated with the speed of the process. Mr. Andrle got upset because my son texted him twice while he was supposedly in court. He sent my son an email lecturing him on how rude he was. He fired us as clients immediately after I sent him an email being sarcastic about how he got his feelings hurt. He then blocked my emails. Sounds very professional. He was our attorney for approximately 3 months, attended 3 zoom meetings on court dates. Apon receiving his itemized bill, he charged us for two meetings which he said were free. After 3 months of his services, he managed to bill us $2,050.00. I question his ethics. I believe he owes me $450.00 back for the free meetings that he billed me for. I look forward to his retort, saying that I am some how a bad father because my son was rude to him.

You cannot go wrong with having Mr. Andrle on your side! He knows everything there is to know about family law. He is also extremely persuasive, and friendly. He could be intimidating, but I'd never seen this side of him. However you want to have your case handled, this is the man to do it. One thing you should note, if you're looking for information on James Andrle III you must keep in mind that he has a private practice now. I found this to be a huge benefit to me as his client.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
