After receiving several tickets, I was recommended to contact Kuttner Law. Mr. Kuttner was very diligent in returning phone calls, made court very easy, and got all except one of the charges dropped. I recommend him to anyone looking for an easy, friendly legal experience. He also thoroughly explained each portion of the process, so there was no confusion.

When I first walked into his office, I was a bit concern, after speaking to him at length, I knew he was the attorney for me. His staff was pleasant, professional and we are on a first name basis, Upon speaking to him, I was advise on how to resolve my issue on my own or retained him. I was told up front how much the fee would be without any hidden fees and if I choose to do things on my own I could always call back with additional questions. He and his staff were straight forward with me. I know that sometimes people speak badly about attorneys especially if they don't hear what they want to hear or have the outcome that they want. I would recommend him to any friends or family members.

Anna Stathis successfully represented me against a false complaint filed against me. Through persistent, insightful letters combined with aggressive discussions with the defendant's attorney, she was able to have the complaint withdrawn. I would definitely turn to Anna Stathis again if there were another situation where I needed legal counsel.

For three decades, Anna M. Stathis, Esq. has provided excellent legal assistance to me and my family. We have found that she brings legal as well as practical insight.to her cases. For example, she once represented me in a medical malpractice incident. Her persistence, legal knowledge and outstanding communication, including powerful letters and verbal discussions with the defendant’s lawyer, resulted in a substantial settlement for me. Through well thought out questions, she was able to draw out relevant and detailed information from me regarding the injury. Through the narratives she created, she proved that the medical practitioner had caused me an enormous amount of pain and anguish and that they needed to be held accountable. I always felt that she was truly fighting for me. On multiple other occasions, Ms. Stathis provided me with excellent legal counsel on employment related issues If another situation arose where I needed legal assistance, I would immediately reach out to her. I highly recommend her Mary

Bruce Levitt is the best thing that ever happened to our family, he saved our home from a short sale. When we contacted Bruce our home was already short sale, We thought we had no chance of saving the home because we were with another attorney who was giving us the run around for almost a year, trying to save our home knowing he didn't know the job but kept us going and almost lost our home. Finally, I was able to research Bruce and hired him from reading somebody else review and exactly what said person said in the review is what he said. He never left us alone through the 5 years we were under bankruptcy he kept up with us, making sure everything was okay with our family, encouraging us to continue the good work we were doing and not to give up because our home was everything to us. And over every holiday we received a holiday card, which became something to look forward to. That tells me that he's not just my attorney but also a friend. I thank Bruce ever so much for saving our home, putting our mind at ease, and realizing that we can always call him regardless of the situation. When i went to his office to tell him thanks for everything he did through our 5 years of bankruptcy he told me, "You know I will always be here for your family, you have a family lawyer now, it doesn't only have to be a mortgage. It can be anything you're having a legal problem with, all you need to do is call me, tell me what the problem is, and I'll find you a lawyer" And that is all I need from him, knowing I have a fighting force on my side, who will be me more reinforcement if I never need one.

Overall, the quality of service is dependent on which service you seek. Ian is very capable at diffusing situations and bringing people together (e.g., great mediator). I would say the opposite is true for negotiation skills and legal knowledge. During my divorce, Ian helped keep conversations level, yet provided limited support in negotiations. As an example, I ended up being the point person on understanding the requirements around alimony and determining the final outcome. In conclusion, I think Ian would work great as a mediator when both sides have their own legal representation. I would not recommend Ian to provide legal representation.

I just finished writing a book and hired a graphic designer to illustrate it. Mr. Coffy drafted a contract for us both to sign and it was excellent! He created several clauses in the contract that addressed issues that I would have not even considered. He definitely knows how to think outside of the box.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
