My husband and I went to 4 attorney's outside of Grant Co. and no one seemed to understand what we were going through.. I desperately posted on a FB group about needing an attorney experienced in the type of child custody issue such as ours and it so happened his staff commented with information, I called and set an appt., 1st thing Todd doesn't bullshit he tells you if he can take your case or not, he tells you what you need to move forward without rushing you out the door... my husband and I were trying to obtain custody of his then 5 year old son due to allegations brought to us of abuse and neglect, Todd and his staff explained to us we needed the solid evidence not just he said she said... it took me almost 1 year to obtain everything needed and during that time we had to of visited the office 4-5 times for consults Todd never charged us for. He always gave us advice and we moved forward with that until we were able to gather everything we needed, once the case was on its way to the courts Todd Glickfield and his office worked with us on payments for his service never forcing an astronomical amount on us! Every step of the way he was with us in a professional and supportive manner. February of 2017 thanks to the guidance and advice from Todd Glickfield as well as support from his staff my husband was able to drive to go pick up his son whom he hadn't seen since 2014, March of 2017 thanks to hard work of attorney Todd Glickfield we were granted full custody with no restrictions... sometimes I think people are more offended that they are spoken to in a matter of fact instead of being bowed down too, I am very grateful for the no bs, no sale, not being treated like just another buck from Todd's office! if it wasn't for his amazing work and advice we wouldn't have our son, I recommend his expertise 110% but just keep in mind... don't go in there expecting a butt kissing because you think you have a case haha lol sit and listen! its worth it in the end!

Mr. Glickfield is different. He isn't going to tell you what you want to hear, he will tell you how he sees it. Refreshingly blunt. I found him to be highly intelligent, well versed in the law and his community. I believe him to be a very capable lawyer. I recommend him without hesitation.

I am an attorney in Ohio. I reached out to this office on a whim for some assistance in a Probate matter that I was working on in Ohio that had ancillary issues in Indiana. Attorney Kyle Persinger immediately reached out to me and was able to assist me in bringing some finality and closure to my client during a difficult time in her life. I could not have asked for a better experience working with this firm, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need.

This David glickfield stole my $2000 bond. Him and I did not come to agreement or plea agreement. He did not represent me at all and stole my $2000 bond. Corrupt attorney. If they say he's the best in that town, I feel very sorry for everyone living in that town. I repeat don't let this lawyer defend to of he robb you and not fight for your constitutional rights. Look me up on my case Jason Whetstone The proof is there. As god is my witness. Best advice I can gave don't break the law in that town and if you do get a out of town lawyer. The truth as god is my witness

Mr. Mcknown was a great lawyer. When we went to court for my disability we were done and I was approved within 5 minutes. This is the second time he's represented me. He also got my daughter approved because of her seizures. I would recommend him to everyone.

He was my divorce attorney in 2001. He was more interested in joining a law firm than representing me. But he took my money. I lost everything. My ex is still obsessed. The CASA worker that he did not object to was friends of my ex husbands uncle, The judge did not believe in joint custody. Even though I get my kids every other week. My ex got sole custody. I have no say in there lives. I'm an RN, I don't smoke, drink, do drugs, or sleep around. I'm a Christian. I have been trained to care for critical newborns and the elderly and everyone in between. Due to Mr. McKown's lack of interest. I have had to live with the stigma of having lost custody of my children. For the last 15 years my ex has been using my children as pawns against me. I am still under his thumb. He is dragging me back to court again in 3/16. I could go on and on about the suffering my children and I have had to endure, since my divorce. The bottom line is, he did not give my case the attention it deserved., and my children and I are still suffering because of it.

What a piece of work! Have you ever heard the term "greasy used car salesman?" Well, this is exactly what you will get here. After working for a judge and several attorneys over the years, I believe I may have encountered one of the most unethical POS in the business, not to mention, he wears no socks with his dress shoes! He was late for every single appointment. He will not return your calls, but only run you in circles charging you for each and every phone call or one sentence email. He vaguely directs you to his secretaries, one who cannot put together a decently grammatical sentence if she tried. The office is in complete ruin and his desk is cluttered beyond any type of organization. The outside of the building is very uninviting and in disrepair. This moron did nothing for me in several month's time except make excuses as to why I couldn't complete my divorce in only the 60 day waiting period when both parties totally agreed. I fired him and did it all myself. Wrote my separation agreement, had it signed and divorce final in just days. Please do not go here unless you want to be taken for a ride. He also lied to me regarding communication with a judicial office regarding my case. He was called out for this my them and made fun of. I don't look for this weirdo to be practicing for long.

Adrienne does not communicate when asked for details regarding issues and was working on my case without my involvement. The office in general is horrible to work with. Most of my correspondence was directed, per their request, via email and phone and rarely answered. My legal issue was handled horribly and cost me dearly.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
