My introduction to Frank was through someone else, however they couldn't have been more correct that he was the person to help me with my situation. When it comes to firearms in NJ, things can be quite complicated and quite tricky. When it comes down to really dissecting the law and really determining the right course of action, Frank helped me do that. He was very responsive and timely in all communications and you can tell what is important to him is the people that reach out and hire him. If he is your attorney, you will know that he cares to do what is right to help you. He will tell you what he thinks and how the laws are written, so be ready for that, but I could not have asked for a better experience in the 2A arena.

I spoke with Frank Pisano to make sure I was in compliance with some laws. He was extremely knowledgeable, priced very fair compared to others I called. I compared prices due to being disabled and paying a large fee was not feasible for me. His specialties are Firearms, which is very important with the constant changing gun laws in NJ and staying in compliance, and personal injury attorney. He personally called me right back on his personal phone on his day off while out to lunch, and said he’ll call me when he was done and he did just that. He further explained what I needed to do and we set up a meeting at his office. Everything was resolved quickly and far exceeded my expectations of what the outcome would be. I highly recommend Frank for any firearm issues or legal problems due to the constant changing laws and also for personal injury. He talks to you like family while gathering all the important facts. You won’t be disappointed in the representation or legal help Frank Pisano provides.

I consulted Mr. Pisano on a matter, where my firearms were seized pursuant to frivolous temporary restraining order that my ex filed against me. His thoughtful explanations of the processes involved, from both the legal and practical perspectives, were illuminating. Frank greatly helped in clearing my name and having my firearms returned. Unfortunately, it seems rare in the legal field to find an attorney that's aggressive when need be but also human in understanding the client's situation. Highly recommended.

She filled in for my lawyer on a custody case. She was very friendly and informative and I'm grateful she was the one to fill in for him. She asked questions and wanted to know more about my situation. She even made sure I found the parking garage I had to park at. Thanks a million!

Without delving too much into our scenarios, Carolyn Il Grande has been the consummate professional in law, with earnest compassion. Carolyn was with our family and steered us through difficult times in trying to sell our home. She managed every aspect of the communication and sought to bring us a positive outcome. In representing us with a previous potential buyer, who strung us along, Carolyn took over and took charge of the situation, and gave us sage and sound advice to remove ourselves from the transaction. (Needless to say, hindsight being what it is, we are certainly glad we listened). For my family, extended family and friends, I would recommend no other than Carolyn. And most certainly as we are now preparing ourselves to purchase a home for our daughter and ... you guessed it, we will be using Carolyn. Thank you, Carolyn.!

I had a driving offense and feared the worst with fines and points, and possible loss of driving privileges. I was also concerned that my case would be treated as too minor for a busy lawyer to give me personal attention. Not only was John always accessible by phone or emails but his relaxed vocal manner had me at ease and his attention to details of my case made me feel confident with his abilities. He was able to get the plead to a lesser offense with less fines and 0 points, and it was over painlessly. I highly recommend John Cardile as your attorney.

AJ is very nice person and I would hire him again. He quickly responds to all queries, make sure to follow up and walk clients through every possible question. Does not hesitate to answer second time. As an attorney he is very positive and great. May be he is tied to a real estate title company and he had directly worked with his own title company (not my lender's title company). It was fine but at the end I paid more $$ and forced to move forward with his title company due to time closing time crunch.

I HIRED MS. VANLEUVEN TO TERMINATE PERMANENT ALIMONY. SHE TOOK MY RETAINER AND AFTER ONE YEAR HAD NOT SUBMITTED THE CASE. SHE WOULD NOT RETURN MY CALLS, VOICE MAILS, OR TEXTS. I FINALLY GOT TO TALK TO HER AFTER I FILED A ETHICS CHARGE AGAINST HER. IN ALL MY DEALINGS WITH MS. VANLEUVEN I HAVE FOUND HER TO BE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNETHICAL

After a lot of soul searching and lawyer searching - I found Dana Van Leuven. She was very forthcoming with initial information on my search. I had questions that she answered without hesitation (other attorneys I probed didn't do that) - she seemed honest and easy to talk to and I appreciate that. One never knows if it's the right time or the right thing to do, when making life changes. I hired her and am hoping to have an "easy go" with my case. - I trust she will have my best interest in mind while guiding me through my legal journey.

Dana is an exceptional lawyer. In my case not only do I need advice, I need support. She has provided that to me. She is understanding of those times when I want to lash out at the system for lack of progress in my case. She explains why and shows me paths I can take to allow me to move on to the next steps. For me the fact that she cares about me is a very big positive. On the lawyer side she is fantastic. I love that she can put in a couple of sentences what another lawyer needs to use paragraphs to explain. She does not waste time on frivolous issues even when as a disgruntled person at times I might ask for it. She shows me the best path(s) to take. She works at her craft. She works for her clients. I usually find that she has already thought of the things I might ask her to do and has a ready plan. In the process I am in she is not the first lawyer I used, but she will be the last and the one that I remember for the quality of service I received.

I never had an opportunity to engage Attorney Silverman because she never responded to my inquiries to her office. While an attorney-client relationship was not formed between us, when an attorney initially displays that type of non-responsive conduct it is typically an indication of how they run their practice.

I called him for a real estate issue asking for his advice and risks. From the get-go, he was very hasty and gave me the attitude that he didn't want to take the case under the corporate legal plan. He didn't even bother to give me the option of paying out of pocket for further actions or whatsoever. His responses were unprofessional and gave me the impression that he was just hiding his ignorance of the subject matter behind dismissiveness.

I used Larry Raiken in a Divorce case. He did a pretty good job, but he seemed a lot more interested in doing things his way and getting paid then in helping me. He got the job done - he's a great negotiator and knows a lot of people in the court system - but it cost me a lot of money, and I can't really say things went the way I wanted.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
