Theresa went above and beyond for me. Even when the other side got underhanded and really dirty, she had confidence in me as a client and it made me feel safe and secure in situations where I might have doubted myself or been afraid, such as giving my deposition (which otherwise would have terrified me). She was communicative where I asked her to be, but also kept things private from me when I requested it due to the stress of my case. She was knowledgeable and helpful in all manners and was always good at educating me on areas that I was confused about. I can't imagine my case would have gone as well without her. She was patient, understanding, kind, and trustworthy. I was able to reach a settlement with her assistance and I couldn't be more grateful.

I had a problem with my employer not living up to their commitments to me as an employee. My case did not require taking this company to court due to Ms. Sidebotham and her staff composing compelling communication to the company that resulted in a fair and prompt resolution to my issue.

I have known attorney Theresa Sidebotham for several years as a fellow Christian attorney. I greatly appreciate her sharp mind, tremendous integrity, and enduring thoughtfulness. Her legal expertise and outstanding personal quality make her a great fit for Christian organizational clients as well as individuals seeking legal counsel in missions-related and other legal matters. She and I worked together on a highly sensitive whistleblower matter, and her wise counsel was spot-on throughout.

We hired David to help in a problematic offshore domain registration issue. David was both very knowledgeable on the subject and very creative in his response. He dealt with the issue pro-actively and decisively, representing our position robustly. I would definitely recommend David for any internet-related legal issues and we would happily use him and his firm again in the future.

I did an intake evaluation and the firm didn't call me back. That is simply unprofessional. Revision based on response: I am not a bot, nor am I confused. This is also unprofessional to blame the potential client. I don't understand this at all and now you are just being insulting. I called your office about a contested will. The person that answered the phone wanted to know about the case in order to present it to an attorney for considerstion. A layman might call that an "intake evaluation". Either way, I spent 15-20 minutes on the phone and never received a call back. I found another firm to handle the case, but I felt a return call was warranted. I am sure your firm is fine and something fell through the cracks. However, I am definitely not confused and I am most certainly a human that deserved a call back. Update #2 Why would I pay to speak to a receptionist about potential litigation? Why would she ask so many questions about the case if it wasn't some sort of "intake evaluation"? The same questions other law firms rightfully asked and called it an "intake evaluation". You are playing semantics. I wanted to know if your firm would take this complex of a case before I paid to speak to an attorney. No other law firms i spoke with had issue with that, nor should they. Not sure why your receptionist wasn't able to get through to me. Other law firms and other people had no problems getting in contact with me.

She represented me in a very high conflict custody/divorce, and kept fighting through all of the chaos. She won and I got everything I asked for. Her cross examination let my ex husband rat himself out and show the judge his true colors.

Heather was supremely professional and came to my aid in the 11th hour when I was blind sided by a barrage of false allegations in the late afternoon prior to a hearing the next morning. She was able to provide a motion to dismiss and kept in contact with me giving me peace of mind during a very stressful time. I can not recommend Heather enough.

Heather Mitchell is an absolute crook. She will take your money, and not communicate with you when you are paying her for her communication and advice! Then when you call her out on her lack of communication, she will then threaten to vacate the case.I paid her over $15K in just 3 months, and she did absolutely nothing for me. I mean nothing. She was not prepared for my temporary orders hearing for the custody battle I was facing for my son. I showed up an hour early, on my request, hoping that we could utilize that hour to get on the same page seeing as to how we were about to be in front of the judge on Web x, and there was very little to no communication at all. When I arrived, she wanted to talk about anything and everything except for the details of my case. She also informed me that her and her helper were dealing with 51 other clients. 51!!!!!! How could just two people be handling and truly caring about 51 cases?! That’s when I knew she was only there for the money, not to help me and my son. She seemed wonderful when we interviewed her, but after that was all downhill. Talk about adding so much more stress into an already extremely stressful time. STAY AWAY from this crook! I promise you that you will not be happy with her ethics or her performance. I repeat, STAY AWAY!!!!

Nice gentlemen and seems fairly knowledgeable in legal matters. Responsiveness was on average with what I was expecting from an attorney. While hourly billing rates were reasonable compared to other attorneys, time required to perform relatively simple work was excessive yielding an outrageously high overall fee for very minimal services. His final bill turned out to be double what other attorneys had quoted. I would suggest shopping around then outlining deliverables and the corresponding fee before any work is begun.

Mr. Cucullu dropped out of sight after his initial contact with the person I had a complaint toward. Cucullu represented me in a case roughly about 3 years ago. He was responsive, on-the-ball, and respectful to me up until the time he received my money and sent out a letter. After that, he made unsatisfactory, intermittent contact with me for almost a year before I lost my patience.

Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
