Mr. Shealy handled the purchases of my last 2 homes including a bank owned foreclosure. He offered late afternoon appointments and was well versed in handling a foreclosured home with a short closing timeline. He offered late appointments allowing us to not take off work. Highly recommend.

Leland is not only a great and trustworthy man be also a fantastic attorney. All attorneys in the firm are licensed in Georgia and South Carolina and specialize in car accident cases, motorcycle accidents, and medical malpractice. I truly do not think I could have had a better experience somewhere else. Will Hoffman made the process so easy and was very attentive to my case. I got updates often, I was included and not in the dark about what was going on. I felt like what happened to me was important, and not small. I would 100% recommend him for any of your cases!

One issue, not eager enough. I don't know if after so many years the passion is gone or not but it seemed like we never got any updates on our case and when we would nothing had changed from one instance to the next. During a court preceding he showed up late for court, which was embarrassing to say the least. Once in court all the facts that were presented to him on our end were wrong. There were several times corrections had to be made during court so the judge had the facts straight, embarrassing again. The price for him is fair, but remember, you get what you pay for.

My family and I have used Mr. Murphy's law firm for several matters. He has provided excellent, professional service. He has assisted in an estate matter and real estate. I would recommend his office to your legal needs.

I've hired Mr. Murphy to take care of some tricky real estate transactions for me and handle some family matters. He was professional and his office is kind, efficient and discrete. I also found his charges to be somewhat less than other local attorneys that I had previously used in similar instances with less success. Mr. Murphy's experience is best displayed in a courtroom situation where I've seen him dominate my adversary. From now on, Mr. Murphy is my family's attorney of choice.

To begin with i having to choose star for rating of his services Joe dose not ever deserve one star ⭐️ Joe Pippen spent 2 min with my father before court case. I was promised that my dad was going to be released Christmas Eve. Joe never turned in paperwork on time to make that happen . Christmas Eve I kept calling & txt week later Dad was released definitely nothing Joe Pippen did bc he did nothing & my father went to treatment in Anderson SC that place lied to me . My dad is 66 yrs old they had him on a top bunk, my dad feel from top bunk hit his head. 2 days later the treatment place put my father on a buss with at midnight took him down town Atlanta & then road a buss dropped him off on broad at 5:00 in the morning. Proper procedure is any person that falls was supposed/ policy taken to ER instead but him on a greyhound . I had reached out to bc Pippen 35 txt & his VM box always full when he was dropped of on 13th st / broad st. He was pushed down from someone & hit his head same place. Long short of my father hadn’t walked to Carpenters automotive shop & they brought him to my house & wouldn’t not taken to ER where he had so much pressure & bleading in same spot we would found my dad dead the next day. . My father had 2. Different times two holes drilled into his scull to relive pressure & bleeding on Brian & one of the procedures he had a stroke. I have never actually had such a horrible experience, a reference suggested by same church my dad been active with for 15 yrs. Now my Dad can’t & will never live by himself & still nothing not word from Pippen nothing but take $3000 and doesn’t have decent bone to at least be respectful & at least return phone call. Also the place of his office states online it’s a law firm . When I drove by today to speak to boss. I was shocked that his office is in the house he lived & grew up in since he was child. It a residential home.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
