I hired Mr. Wolf to defend my son, who was incarcerated in the Cuyahoga County Jail. He listened attentively, communicated honestly with me, and charged me fairly. Upon attending the trial, he was impressively prepared, professional, knowledgeable, and achieved results well beyond what I had hoped for. I believe he was able to do such a remarkable job because he genuinely cared and listened.

Shelia Duffy did an excellent job handling my divorce. She was extremely patient and professional and answered all of my questions when I needed clarification. She took time out of her day to take my calls and made this unpleasant situation more bearable. Thank you Shelia for doing such a great job!!

As a professional myself I was highly impressed with Ms. Mobberly. She is knowledgeable, concerned, and is more than punctual in returning calls. If fact , I and my wife will have her review our wills. My wife met her by proxy and she has done a wonderful job for my Mom. As far as Edler care, in this changing world you can not know enough. She is honest and straight forward and her fees are more than reasonable.

This man is knowledgable and to the point but considering I am in the process of comparing lawyers and 3 others think I have a case he was very very quick to judge and determine he did not want to work with me. He interrupted me when I was trying to tell the entire story (which 2 of the other lawyers didnt think I had a case until I finished explaining everything) and that honestly stuck me as beyond unprofessional as he told me that I was interrupting him when I was simply trying to tell him the actual fact then he would say something in a very demeaning tone and as a man who doesnt trust men typically he reminded me very much of the step father who beat me so I cannot honestly tell you guys if he is a good lawyer. It was beyond clear that when I shared something that is public record with him that he immediately changed the tone of his voice, seemed to become smug and I felt I spent more time fearing what I thought when hearing that tone in every sentence than I spent going over everything that happened and a large corporation worth billions of dollars most certainly has all the documentation he claimed I should have. Had he spoke with me the entire time the way he sounded the first few minutes of the call this would be a much different review. I suggest if you have ever been through recovery do not even bother speaking to this man. Very unprofessional and doesnt know the money he lost. There was even a point I made it pretty clear cost wasn't an issue, but principal was. He was more worried about how much time was left on the call than the fact I feel so strongly about the issues that clearly I am going to hire an attorney. Although not all were addressed about 70% were. Call it weak if you want but someone fatherless that doesnt have good experiences with men generally and tried to make that very clear as early on as possible which generally people pick up on and avoid such harsh tones. I even used a hate slur that people are fired for saying while quoting someone and the man's reply was "so what" As an attorney I cannot give an opinion but as a person I can tell you this is a very rude and unprofessional man whom expects you to share his VIEWS not the law. Clearly this man lost money here as i did not decide to continue the call and hung up the moment he didnt even ask if I wanted to pay to continue talking. If your a 'man's man' and wish we still lived in the 50s and equal rights werent a protected class than I assure you this is your man! If you want to be treated with dignity and not cut off interrupted and made feel small and insulted than I suggest looking elsewhere. This is the first time I've left a review for an attorney and it's funny to me that 4 defamation lawyers are interested in my case but 2ithin I'd say 4 min after I mentioned recovery it was clear he wasnt looking for a client he was looking to shame me and ensure he wouldnt have to speak with someone who is I'm recovery (again of course you shop around attorneys as with anything in life or else you never save money)

Errors get made in simple documents such as putting one date or dollar amount on the proposed document but then another on the final judgement entry. However, when the errors are pointed out you get charged for the additional communication and time to correct items that should not have been incorrect in the first place, essentially charging the client for doing their job for them. Try proof reading your documents before sending them to people to review and sign. Michelle is demeaning and acts superior just because she has a law degree. It is unacceptable to treat others like they are incompetent or stupid just because that person is not your signed client. Maybe try a different area of law that does not require you to deal with people directly in an emotional situation. Rather unprofessional to tell a client that you have 15 min to go over documents because you scheduled another appointment so close to theirs and if they have too many questions they will have to reschedule. Well, maybe provide ALL documents to be reviewed, including the exhibits, so they don’t have to ask to see those at the meeting you failed to allow enough time for. Your lack of planning shouldn’t result in a rescheduling for the client currently sitting in front of you. Not to mention the rudeness when asked to see all documents being filed with the court. Be open, honest and forthcoming instead and maybe these things wouldn’t happen. I mean after the clerical errors in the main documents should a person really trust you to have the exhibits correct? Would never recommend this lawyer to even my worst enemy. Updated post reply: Regardless if I was the signed client or not, the errors were real. Dollar amounts were noted in the documents but not carried correctly to the judgment entry. Not sure if that was just incompetence or a bait and switch factor. Again, she then charged her client for me doing her job for her. Making corrections to things that should not have been wrong in the first place. Maybe if they slowed down and proof read things this would not happen. Also, the incident with the meeting did happen also. So regardless if my being a signed client or not, what I wrote is still accurate. Seems odd that even though I wasn’t paying her bill I still believe the quality of representation lacked. Truth is truth. Nothing I wrote was inaccurate, which is evident by their reply because the only rebuttal the firm had was that I was not their client. Ok, but I did have the misfortune of working with them and it was a less than stellar experience.

My unscrupulous brother - let's call him Joe L. - walked into my mother's nursing home room when she was clearly incompetent and had her sign over her Power Of Attorney using a generic P.O.A form "the internet made" for him. Unfortunately, the court system didn't have the grapes to flat out tell him you can't do that, so myself and my 3 siblings had to go to court to get the POA that "the internet made" for him thrown out. In doing so, the court assigned Mr. Wolf as the guardian for my mother. Mr. Wolf visited my mother for an entire 20 minutes and DID NOT reach out to any of her children to ask what we thought would be in the best interest FOR OUR MOTHER before he made any life altering decisions for her. In the meantime, my sister put a deposit down at Cardinal Court in Strongsville. They offered memory care, rehab for the healing leg my mother had broken and a clean, caring environment - all of which was the complete opposite of O'Neill Healthcare. Through our lawyers, we filed an emergency injunction to have my mother moved to Cardinal Court. Keep in mind, 4 of her 5 children were PLEADING to have their mother moved from O'Neill Healthcare to Cardinal Court. Mr. Wolf, with his complete lack of understanding and wisdom, decided that it wouldn't be good for my mom to move from O'Neill Healthcare to a facility that would actually care about her because "it would cause confusion" to a woman who was already suffering at the hands of dementia and Alzheimer's. Before making his egregious decision to let my mother rot at O'Neill Healthcare of Middleburg Hts., Mr. Wolf confessed to our lawyers "I sure wouldn't want to be trapped at O'Neill." Mr. Wolf also conceded that my mother was indeed incompetent and could not make decisions for herself. In the same decision, Mr. Wolf said that he asked my mother where she wanted to go and she said she didn't care - so he took that as O'Neill was ok with her. Read that again - Mr. Wolf AGREED THAT MY MOTHER WAS INCOMPETENT AND THEN ASKED AND TOOK THE WORD OF MY INCOMPETENT MOTHER ON WHERE TO PLACE HER. Makes you wonder who the incompetent one actually was in that situation, huh? While my mother was held captive by "Joe L." and Mr. Wolf, she "fell out of bed" and broke her other leg; thus ensuring that she would be confined to bed for the rest of her life. She also lost so much blood that she had to be rushed to the E.R. for an emergency transfusion of 4 units of blood. Hopefully whoever is in charge of Mr. Wolf's final days decide to let him rot at O'Neill of Middleburg Heights. Myself and my family will never forgive him for the misguided and reprehensible decisions he made while being in charge of my mother's care.

Mr.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
