We had a new employee with less than 90 days service, and after 5 weeks of classroom and OJT training, violate one of our most stringent work rules----twice. The first time we gave her a written warning, the second time it happened we terminated her employment. She filed complaints with both the Federal EEOC and the State ERD claiming discrimination based on her sex, age, harassment, and religion. The State ERD deferred to the EEOC to investigate and they found no merit in her charges. They then dismissed and issued a Right to Sue letter. The claimant filed suit in Federal Court and we engaged our attorney Al Seneczko to help us defend against it. He provided excellent advice, some of which was quite unique and effective with the court. He also handled all court documents and provided superb and very responsive service. We would definitely hire Al again to help us with an employee relations issue.

We have been clients of Al Seneczko for close to 25 years. He is by far the most thorough, creative, client-caring attorney that we have worked with. We do not ever want to be represented by any other labor attorney, so much that, in a recent work comp court appearance, we paid out of our pocket to have Al represent us rather than the attorney that was free of charge to us through our work comp carrier. We were not disappointed with our choice to do that as the outcome of the case was very positively in our favor. Al truly cares about your organization; almost as if he was an employee himself! I highly recommend using Al Seneczko for any labor issue you might have - you will not be disappointed.

Tom is a extremely knowledgeable attorney in many different areas of law. I have personally used him for my business, real estate transactions, personal wills and related matters. He also explains things in a language that us non-lawyer types can clearly understand and make us comfortable with. I would recommend him highly to anyone seeking good solid legal advice.

Attorney Fey was more than extremely helpful to me. After my husband's death, she handled the estate. The estate included various CD's, stocks, personal property, real estate and a very old Trust from the 1950's with husband as beneficiary and his now adult children as beneficiaries at his death. This meant she had to deal with numerous adult children from his first marriage, plus his present wife. Things went south between the parties and Emily had much work to do to keep all informed and satisfied with her progress. With the short delays experienced, due to the client's and children's bickering, and the fact that she had to have various CD's and stocks combined into the Estate Account to later be appropriately distributed, it is my opinion that she has a lot of knowledge and experience and is well thought of by the court. Attorney Fey also helped me in necessary wordage to be put into the real estate contract when I put my house up for sale. Since I was going to be leaving the state, this wordage was so necessary, but would not have been thought of by realtor or myself. I am so thankful for all of her help. She is a true lady.

Terese Halfmann is very friendly, personable and professional. I felt very comfortable with her right from the start. She always explained what was going to be happening with the legal process in a way a non-lawyer could understand. Also, in my feeble attempts to relay to her my understanding of a medical term or procedure, she always understood what I was attempting to say. She always returned my calls promptly; and always told me if I had ANY questions at all, to give her a call. I can't praise her enough, so I'm glad for this opportunity. I would most definitely highly recommend her!

I met with Joe to discuss a potential marital decision, and Joe was very Informative and supportive. He talked me through my options and reiterated that his goal is to sustain marriages to the best of his ability. The advice provided by Joe provided him with no compensation, but he was more than willing to devote time to meet with me.

In my opinion, Joe's performance was fair. He did not go the "extra mile" with our case. We had two hearings and Joe was fifteen minutes late to the first hearing, stating that he had printer problems. He requested that we should meet early to discuss the case before the hearing, but he arrived too late for any private time to discuss concerns prior to the hearing. The little amount of time we had left over, Joe spent having a small talk discussion with the GAL (who actually arrived early) about their personal leisure time. Luckily, the court commissioner was running behind that day and the hearing still took place as planned. Joe was not able to provide answers to questions that I had pertaining to protective services. He offered to try to obtain answers from a friend and to research them. When no specific answers were relayed back to me after I inquired, he said that his friend did not respond and may have been on vacation. Joe was not able to give any detailed answers from the research he said he would provide for me in regard to questions pertaining to the type of protective services that our county could actually provide. This lack of information caused me to change the court requests, which ended up costing more in the end. Joe also did not have a receptionist, nor did he have an out of office message or greeting to indicate that he was going to be out of the office for a vacation. He did respond back to me after a lapse, letting me know that he had been taking a vacation. Overall, Joe was polite and did return messages and phone calls to actually work through the guardianship process to the final court date. However, there were times during the process that could have gone smoother with the above written concerns, and a few others. Recently, I hired another law firm for estate planning. Their team of two lawyers, along with their paralegal was an extremely positive experience and I wish that working with Attorney Hentz could have been as positive.

I posted a question on Avvo and doubted that anyone would answer since I didn't pay. Joe answered my question within hours of my asking and gave great advice. I had wanted clarification of the statute and that's what I got--in plain English. Made a very difficult and stressful situation more tolerable.

I was online searching for a lawyer due to 1st offense OWI. Attorney Raskopf answered my search in seconds. I explained my situation and he listened to everything I had to say. Upon hiring him, he immediately went to work filing proper papers, entering a plea, and followed up with all the necessary items. I emailed him questions and he responded within seconds with a phone call and was able to ease my mind. I highly recommend attorney Raskopf for any if your needs when looking for a lawyer.

I hired Mr. Eric Raskopf to help me thru a difficult (and wholly new to me) period, upon referral by my husband. Eric was able to reduce a criminal traffic charge to a civil forfeiture via negotiation, AND keep the charge from affecting my driver's license (and therefore my insurance). Hopefully I'll never need his services again, but I will definitely recommend him as he made this unknown process easier by describing everything and meeting up a few minutes before each scheduled court date. Thank you!!

Paul told me there was some special computer program that he could access but I’d have to give him an additional $1,500 for him to use it as it would help my case. I kept asking him about the program, he finally admitted there was no program. It took about a year with the help of the Office of Lawyer Regulations to force him to pay me back. Idk how he could do that and not get disbarred. If I did that to a customer I would be arrested and put in jail. All Paul had to do was go to a 2 hour class on business ethics for his violation.

The best attorney I have ever had! Attorney Eric Cormany was recommended to me by two people I work with because he had helped them get out of some tough situations. They both said he went above and beyond their expectations and were amazed at his legal knowledge. They told me I would be impressed with Attorney Cormany's advocacy and I was not disappointed. I am happy to admit that I also received incredible representation from Attorney Cormany as my friends did and all of us were extremely satisfied with his representation. It may sound dramatic but without Attorney Cormany's expertise my life may be very different today. He saved me from a bad situation and his persuasive arguments were truly amazing. I highly recommend Eric Cormany, he is an exceptional attorney and has a great legal mind.

I rented an apartment from a person who has several buildings and properties. He is known for "screwing" tenants. He did not return my deposit in the time frame required by the Wisconsin code nor did he return the full deposit. Jeff Ek handled my case, communicated to me promptly and thoroughly. Best of all, I received 2x my security deposit, the full amount of rent refund and I paid $0.

Went to this place to get a trust for my properties and he asked me about all my other things I owned and I told him it wasn't worth anything. Long story short I was in his office maybe 3 hours top and it cost $4000 dollars. Didn't get anything out of it ,stay away from this organization unless you have money to give to someone that doesn't listen to what you want.

Asked if attorney could assistant with various contracts. This person was more interested in the problems with a certain organization which we believe was negligent and abusive and which we believe violated laws which caused great suffering to a relative. He continued to ask questions to attempt to get specific information about the organization. The caller specified this was her "opinion". She would not disclose specific people involved or even the specific organization because this attorney or his assistant was attempting to get information which was really none of his business. Then after explaining a situation at this person's continuous baiting and badgering, the caller asked if he could help with the contracts at all. His response was the caller was too mad about the situation, which was none of his business to begin with, and which he continued talking about to get more and more information out of the caller. So, then he continued again stating something like, "and you won't even tell me what company you are talking about" to which she replied that it was none of his business, and then she hung up on him. This guy seemed to want to know all the information to work against the caller. I find this pretty troubling. Must not have much work going thru the office if that is the way they handle potential clients. Opinion, of course.

  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:

  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
