Shortly after retaining Price & Randle Don became incapacitated, but Matt Price made absolutely certain that his case continued and was resolved to Don's advantage. Matt took special, personal care of Don's case. We couldn't be more thankful for his service, and would recommend Price &Randle to everyone .

I had two previous lawyers prior to working with the McDuffey law firm, I wasted two years with zero results. Within 2 months of taking my case, we had some progress and within six months were already successful with a portion of the case. I appreciate the time, attention and dedication both Brad Medcalf and Tim McDuffey have given my case. I firmly believe that we would not have progressed in my case without their expertise. I can say with absolute confidence, I would recommend the McDuffey Law Firm for personal injury cases. Helpful?

Tim McDuffey won my accident case for 1 Million, Thank God my mother in law found him, he is truly an honorable Attorney, and it shows thru his work, he made sure all my bills were paid, so I did not have to deal with creditors, he would always listen to my concerns and worries with a gentle heart, he truly takes his cases to heart, not only was he my accident attorney, but my disability advocate, and to this day 5 years later, he still listens to my concern about disabilities, and advices me on what action to take,Tim you’re an amazing Attorney, a loyal friend to talk to, and I think of Tim as a God sent Angel in my life, thanks for your advice 5 years later even though he is not getting paid,he is always there with open ears to rely on, and nowadays you can't rely on much, but I have had the experience with Tim and Michelle, both of them are truly amazing together as a team.

I thought about handling my workers' compensation case on my own. The insurance company offered me $12,000 to settle my case. i was thinking about taking it. I knew Tim from school. The visit was free so i went in to talk to him. Tim pointed out some things about my case that i was not even aware of. I hired Tim and he got my case settled for $60,000. I'm so glad i did not settle the case on my own.

Our attorney helped us through a very tumultuous period in our lives. Tom provided us with good legal counsel that resulted in an amicable settlement while still maintaining our dignity and Christian values. We recommend Tom if you desire a fierce warrior in the legal process.

I hired Chris years ago to represent me in a case that I caught in miller county mo. He was the nicest most cordual man with a down to earth personality id ever came across for an attorney and so is Meagan. They are very prompt and thorough in everything they have done for me. I have been very please in everything he has done for me in the past and I have retained him for the last 7 years for I must admit I'm not the luckiest girl. I'd reccommend him to anyone in any kind of case he will take care of you and your feelings.

Brad was very caring in my consultation. He listened to me, did not make me feel rushed, and comprehensive in his answer to all of my questions. He was incredibly knowledgeable. If you've been injured in a car accident, I HIGHLY recommend Brad Medcalf, at McDuffey & Medcalf Law Firm

Ever had a good attorney? Now imagine the complete opposite & you have Chris Roher. In fact, you will not find a good review for the man. (If you do, his wife wrote it). To be fair, he did take my case on short notice. (I'm confident he could take yours today!) I have given lengthy, detailed reviews of Mr. Roher in the past, only to see them taken down. I'm not sure how he accomplishes it, but I'll at least give you the crux.. Unprofessional..man reeked of alcohol every time I was in the office. Seems to be more interested in fitting in with the other attorneys than representing his client. Kept 2k of a 5k retainer despite an agreement to refund if certain objectives were not accomplished.) Failed to inform me of a procedure that would have saved me thousands. (I'm not positive that he even knew of it before time expired.) Just absolutely the worst representation I've had or witnessed.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
