I would recommend Adam to anyone who needs a lawyer. He was very helpful with my automobile accident case. Adam is very professional yet very personable which I thought was great. I had talked to other lawyers in Pikeville and Adam was the only one who seemed to actually care about helping me rather than just profiting from my case. Adam was able to help me get reimbursement for my car which was totalled, all my medical expenses paid, and a compensation for my pain and suffering. We had to deal with an insurance company who didn't want to take responsibilty for their client (imagine that). If you want a lawyer who gets results and is easy to deal with and helpful in every way then I suggest you contact Adam Hall.

When starting out with this case I had no clue what to expect. Entering a divorce and having to fight Grandparent visitation it was definitely more than i felt i could handle. Amber Hunt Sisco has a great knowledge of the law and makes sure you understand each step of the process. If you have any questions she will answer them and make sure you understand what is going on in a very timely manner. She is strong and a fighter in court no matter if it is a motion hour or a hearing she stands her ground and is very prepared. I found myself at ease knowing I had her on my side. Amber is a loyal and trusting attorney and all around my experience with Amber has been a great one. She really cares and knows it is a difficult time for the client. I am thankful for all the hard work Amber Hunt Sisco has put in on my case. I continue to rely on Amber as a key resource and I will recommend her to anyone.

Amber has been my lawyer since 2012 and I don't believe I can ever imagine having a better experience with a lawyer. With legal proceedings, etc., I was a bit intimated, but she really puts my anxieties to rest. She keeps me in the know, gives me sound advice in the directions to take in my legal actions, etc. I'm happy to call her my lawyer & my friend.

I had a consultation with Owens who promised the meeting would be at no cost, before laying out my case he demanded the money up front and repeatedly cut me off asking for money. When I brought up the fact that he had promised a free consultation, he then threatened to trespass me from his office. That is not the way you are supposed to practice law. No thanks!

Talk about an EGO that is easily riled up......so much so, Mr. Diddle should be getting chastised by his peers about right now. Yesterday, I was represented Pro Se in a civil matter against Mr. Diddle and his client. Granted he was blindsided by his client's lies and perjury, but to let his riled up EGO permit his client to not only subject herself to the possibility of a 1-5 year prison sentence for perjury, he set her up for multple, additional felonies of fraud against the me and the USPS. His client could end up with an additional 5-7 year prison term. I gave Mr. Diddle an easy way out prior to the crime of perjury was set in concrete(he swore out the complaint, not his client), this was immediately after I submitted solid evidence proving the first act of perjury. He shunned my offer in open court to resolve this case outside the courtroom. At this point, a prudent seasoned attorney should have went in damage control mode and save his client from further incrimination. Not Mr. Diddle, his EGO made him think that he could possibly win by trying to trip me up on irrelevant issues.(didn't work, even though he relentlessly talked over me, and was cross examining the evidence prematurely). He made himself look desperate, he could not believe that a Pro Se opponent was eating his lunch. I once again gave him another opportunity to resolve the case outside the courtroom. I even touted(a little unprofessionally, I might add, only because I could not believe this man's EGO would jeopardize his client's freedom) that I was getting ready to enter as evidence, the proverbial "Smoking Gun", for the next wave of felony crimes committed against the me and the Federal Government, yet once again his EGO could not let him give up on a losing battle, against a Pro Se opponent. . I told him and the Judge, "I really do not want to present this evidence that I am about to, because it will almost certainly result in more serious charges than the perjury he allowed his client to be subjected to. He responded once again, thinking with his EGO clouding Mr. Diddle's judgement, with more irrelevant cross examination (out of turn, and confrontational) of the solid evidence that I had already submitted. I shook my head in disbelief when I submitted the evidence that could possibly bring his client to a lengthy prison term, now that his EGO has allowed the evidence to be evidence of record. The moral of this story, Mr.Diddle is ...... every once in a while you will run across a Pro Se opponent who does their homework, eats your lunch, AND makes you look like an incompetent EGOtiscal idiot, Who shunned his duty to protect his client. Another moral of the story is..... make sure your MALPRACTICE INSURANCE PREMIUMS are paid BEFORE your Mercedes-Benz payment. Because if that lady(your client) goes to prison because you helped her incriminate herself, as stupid as her own actions were, i will be seeing you again as her primary witness in her 7 figure$$ Superior Court civil lawsuit against you and you insurance company!! Check your EGO at the front door, and do your legal and moral duty and start protecting your clients, win or lose. YOU OWE ME $0 FEE FOR TODAYS LESSON! PRO BONO, use it wisely! P.S. TO ANYONE READING THIS POST... I WON THE CASE HANDS DOWN, BUT LEFT THE COURTROOM SO EFFING PISSED OFF THAT I COULD NOT SEE STRAIGHT, AND I AM STILL PISSED!!!

I hired him thinking he would have my best interest.I learned he wanted fast easy money. He wanted me to settle for less than I wanted too. He waited Until I was suppose to go in front of the judge and withdrew from my case. I was lucky to find an attorney to help me settle this.He contacted the attorney at my employment and within two week my case was settle for the amount I wanted. I did contest the attorney fee but by the time the judge received my letter he had signed off. He gave me false information. He told me if I received anything on Workman comp it would not effect my social security, which was false. If it’s not prorated, it does. Thank God I didn’t stop until it was done to my advantage. I don’t understand why Mr Diddle treated me the way he did. When I worked I took pride in my work and treated people the way I would want to be treated. I just thank God for the attorney that help me through a difficult time in my life.So I rated Mr Diddle a one but if I could have put zero I would have.....Be careful when choosing an attorney. I am doing this review in hope to help someone else!!!

Mr. Carter took my wrongful death case. Told me he'd get back with me in 3 or 4 weeks because he had other cases to tend to first. After a few months I called to see if there was any progress. His secretary was rude and said they still hadn't done anything and they would get in touch with me when they did. So 3 weeks before the statue of limitations was up he sent me a letter stating that he had contacted 2 experts and therefore was no case. He didn't get in touch with any witnesses or got more records. It was pretty clear there were negligence in the death of my husband.I trusted him to help prove that, but did nothing. When I contacted him he stated that he spent a lot of money on this case, I didn't see anything he did. So when I questioned him about it he was very rude. Very unprofessional. Cursed me out and hung up on me. Is that anyway to treat a grieving widow? Had I known he wasn't going to help me with this I would have contacted someone else. Now there is nothing anyone can do about it. I just hate that they got by with it and will do other people the same way. My family has suffered a great deal over this and could have been prevented if they had done there job correctly. So no THANKS to Mr. Carter.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
