I would recommend Attorney Viorel Ureke ( Ureke law firm) to anyone looking for an attorney; my experience with them was like no other very compassionate, knowledgeable, great communication, hardworking and above all patience. He took us through each and every step of our case . Personally I feel like they are angels sent from above to represent the voiceless.

We had the pleasure of working with April King on our Estate plan in developing a Will and Trust for us. April was very thorough and detailed on the administrative interview, finding out our wishes and goals for our Estate and heirs so that she could cover all contingencies that may occur. She made suggestions that we had not thought of and created scenarios that helped us in clarifying our desires in managing our estate. April contacted us numerous times through the process to clarify, explain and suggest alternative directives. We had gone to a few Estate Planning seminars put on by larger estate planning firms but felt it was too much of a boiler-plate approach and processed like a “trust mill” where we would not get the detailed individual service we desired. We were very pleased with the individual service and the attention to detail April provided. I would highly recommend April King for estate planning needs. Jim & Lucy

My husband an I had a problem with property damage caused by a licensed contractor which had filed for bankruptcy to complicate things. We had contacted other counsel and they clearly did not know how to proceed, taking weeks to respond to our inquiries. Thankfully we found Matthew! With in 24 hours of the first conversation, he filed the motion of relief from stay and knew exactly what we needed to do to solve our problem. He proved very pleasant to work with, an expert in our type of legal matter, and ultimately very successful! His rates may not be the lowest, but his efficiency and competency is so high that he really is the best value! I can easily recommend Matthew.

My husband and I found Matt through Avvo as we were relocating from out of state and were purchasing a home without the use of a realtor. We strongly recommend Matt for multiple reasons. First, he provided sound advice on ensuring the title was free and clear and there would be no issues prior to us getting too far into the process. Second, he recommended for us to have the seller provide an updated survey at their expense since the survey was old and this was a lakefront property. Third, he was able to negotiate with the Title company and look over our owners title insurance policy to ensure we had a policy that worked in our best interest. And lastly, he made sure that our purchase agreement was written well to represent and protect us in the negotiation proceedings. These four items alone you cannot put a price on as they can be pricey issues down the road if you are not protected or if all information on the property is not disclosed properly. Matt's charges were fair and overall couldn't put a price on them because the information was better than any real estate agent could provide and it more than triple paid for what we saved in buyer realtor fees that we were able to negotiate off the price. We strongly recommend for anyone who is looking at a piece of real estate to engage with Matt instead.

Matt Dougherty saved the purchase of our dream home. Only 4 days before the closing of our new home we were notified that the title company would not sign off on the purchase because of marital status concerns with the home seller. We didn’t know where to turn and we’re recommended to call Matt by a friend. I spoke with Matt on the phone and asked him to help. Within 24 hours he had spoken to all involved parties and sent a notification to the title company of why they should sign off on the purchase, which they agreed and our purchase was able to complete as planned. Matt’s quick response and calm demeanor talking thru handling of the situation allowed our dream home to become a reality and we cannot recommend him highly enough!

When my parents were involved in a life-altering motorcycle accident, our world was turned upside down. As we navigated the aftermath, I interviewed nearly 20 law firms across the Twin Cities, searching for the right team to handle my parents’ personal injury case. From the moment we met Steve Meshbesher and Richard Student from Meshbesher & Associates, it was clear that they were the best choice by far. Steve and Richard didn’t just talk about caring—they showed it through their actions. They drove an hour and a half after office hours just to meet with my family, a gesture that immediately set them apart. From start to finish, they were committed to doing everything in their power to make our lives easier during one of the most difficult times we’ve ever faced. They were honest, upfront, and treated us with the utmost respect. What impressed me the most was how they went above and beyond what we expected. Steve and Rich didn’t just see us as clients; they genuinely cared about our well-being. Their dedication, empathy, and tireless efforts gave us peace of mind and confidence that we were in the best hands possible. If you’re facing a personal injury case, I can’t recommend Steve Meshbesher and Richard Student from Meshbesher & Associates enough. They are the good guys in a world where it often feels like everyone else is against you. They don’t pressure you, they’re never shady, and they’re always there to answer your questions. Even if you’re unsure or just need advice, it’s worth picking up the phone and giving them a call. I am so glad we did. Thank you, Steve and Richard, for everything you’ve done for my family. We will always be grateful.

I can not express in words how amazing work Robert Webber and his team did for my O-1A petition. I had my NIW I-140 approved in December, 2023 when I approached Robert. My STEM OPT EAD was going to expire in three months. He agreed to take my case and we moved forward very quickly. Although my profile was not that strong for an O-1 case, they argued very astutely that I fulfill six out of eight criteria for an O-1 category. My company filed the case in two months in premium processing and it got approved yesterday. Robert, Tom and Jillian were very organized and efficient along every steps. I pray Webber Arredondo Oja, LLC's success in the upcoming days.

We went to Bridget Andruscavage as she was listed as one of the lawyers in our area, through our legal plan at my work, who did trusts and wills and she had good reviews. We thought we had a simple case to work on. We are not self employed. All of our assets, except hunting property, are separated and in either my or my wife's name. I have siblings who have put the hunting land into a revocable trust. Within the first 10 minutes of talking to her, she was telling us we should go somewhere else as she is not the best person to go to. This should tell everyone what they need to know. Trusts are used to avoid probate court and to protect assets from estate taxes. If she can't help those people who want to avoid probate and need to protect their assets, then why advertise as being able to do trusts? Our guess is that she couldn't make enough money for the amount of work involved. Find someone else as meeting with her about a trust and will is a waste of your time. That's what we found!

We talked with Jessica at a free help center and she gave us a lot of good advice as we were doing a speedy court date. The day before court we started to panic that we were not doing things right in a custody case to get our grandson as we heard from other people that it's very hard to get custody of a grandchild. We called Jessica and she made the time to see us and took our case. We went to court quite a few times and in the end we got full legal, sole custody of our grandson. So I truly believe that if we did not get Jessica on our side we would not of won. She went the extra mile for us and we thank her from the bottom of our heart that she helped make another child safe.

I first met Catherine in 2020 after I needed to retain counsel for a bogus charge.. not only did she get the charge dropped.. she helped me through the process to manage the outfalls of my case and absolutely went to bat for me and we received the outcome desired. Everyone is so hasty to anonymously spread BAD word or news these days.. I choose otherwise. I'd recommend Catherine to anyone facing a charge they know is unjust.

Had a consultation to discuss a potential case. I'm an agreeble person by nature, but this woman was incredibly apathetic, abrupt, rude, and brusque. There is no room for empathy, nuance, or even contexualizing circumstances- the interpersonal skills are not there. The case consulted for will be dismissed definitively, but regardless, the consult left a poor impression of working with someone with basic humanity. If you are seeking a letter of the law lawyer who fails to contexualize & understand the vagaries of human nature with nuance, she's probably a good fit for you. If you are looking for someone with basic decency, compassion, & critical thinking enough to understand complex situations without perceiving their worldview as the holy grail- please seek elsewhere. It's incredible how rude she was just from a consultation alone; honestly, very sad. Please do better Catherine, you are working with a pool of people disadvantaged & there is a moral responsibility inherent to that- empathy would be an asset for you if you cared enough.

At first my husband and I were inspired by her confidence but after a few months we realized she was grasping at straws in representing our Family court case. Joan would often need to be prompted and reminded on key details. Getting in touch with her wasn’t easy and at times several days to return our calls. We had to let her go and ultimately having to start from scratch again was a difficult expense but truly the best decision for us in the end.

This "law firm" is very unprofessional. When I was first contacted by Brad Peterson he was upset that I was calling on behalf of someone and it wasn't the account holder himself which I told him I was the handler of our finances and that anything concerning the account would need to go through me and make me the main point of contact. I was trying to be reasonable around our already existing bills such as rent, upcoming vet visits, groceries, my own car payment and tried to reassure him that I would need to budget everything into what I am already paying monthly and he tried to manipulate and guilt trip me into putting this payment first and when I wouldn't back down he got upset that I was putting the payment on the back burner. The "company" has had their "lawyer" send several scare tactics through the mail and had one man show up at my door and we didn't have to sign anything he handed it to us and walked away. I can't recall every word that was said when I called to inform them that their scare tactics weren't working but the lady said that they aren't scare tactics but when I asked why there was no court date on the summons or the other packet that was delivered though the mail she didn't have a straight answer even though she works for a "law firm" and said the stuff we had been receiving weren't scare tactics but couldn't give me an answer as to why there was no court date on them at all. I budgeted everything in and when I called and gave them an updated date to expect payment the person on the other end of the phone was very rude and wouldn't work with me on just putting a note on the file. I told them that I planned it out so I would be paying 3 months worth of payments in 1 month and paying it off in 1 year and tried to get me to up my payment to the larger number and when I told him no he got frustrated with me and asked why and I told him that it gives me a maximum and a minimum to pay monthly in the case something pulls one or both of us out of work such as the death of a family member or hospitalization and he was upset that I was taking anything into consideration I told him that I would be sticking to my original plan and that I just wanted him to put a note on the file and all he wanted to do was argue with me about it so I hung up. A friend of ours that works for the state told us that the paperwork was sketchy and to talk to the fraud department at the bank and the bank couldn't find anything conclusive but after reading most of the reviews I will only be paying the company that accepted the loan request and approved the loan request. I had a bad feeling from the first conversation and I should've trusted my gut from the get go. Overall: DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. GO THOUGH YOUR MAIN LOAN OFFICE!!! DON'T GIVE THEM A CENT.

This "law firm" is very unprofessional. When I was first contacted by Brad Peterson he was upset that I was calling on behalf of someone and it wasn't the account holder himself which I told him I was the handler of our finances and that anything concerning the account would need to go through me and make me the main point of contact. Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
