I called Joel Drucker when I needed immediate assistance with POA's and wills for my parents. He responded promptly and guided me through the process since I was never put in that position before. I was very fortunate to find Joel. He was always available to answer any questions or concerns I had. I highly recommend him and will definitely use his services again when the need arises in the future.

Mr Drucker drew up our documents in a timely fashion. We were under time constraints and Mr. Drucker made sure all of the documents were completed to meet our needs. He also took the time to answer all our questions in person, on the phone and via email.

We used Tanya for a house sale / purchase in early 2022. Tanya was great to work with and made the stressful process of selling / buying a house much easier. She communicated up front what the process would involve (we hadn't had a real estate transaction in over 20 years so it was a good refresher!) and was extremely proactive in all aspects of the process. We appreciated her attention to detail and patience with all of the many questions we had! We also were very happy with the title agency she recommended - they were great to work with. We would highly recommend Tanya for any real estate related legal work.

Mr. Brecher has support me in a number of various legal matters including court appearances and property settlements. He is most proficient and professional in his approach to all of the legal matters that I was faced with. He worked with me to understand the implications of the decisions needed in each of the case. He was very understanding of my lack of knowledge of the legal system - I am an engineer - and he made the various processes and procedures that I went through as painless and quick as possible.

I came across Jordan P. Brewster in summer 2015, when was searching for new divorce lawyer, since was about to fire my lawyer Aniello Ceretto (do not even think to come close to this guy, despite his undeserved high rating of 8.1 in Avvo.com, you will be misled, manipulated and ripped off) and also was seeking advice what to do about him. It is not secret that a lot of divorce lawyers take advantage of client’s mental and emotional conditions going through that terrible and devastating event, particularly when you are not initiating party. Mr. Brewster not only listened to all details of my already complicated divorce case without any financial benefits for himself, but also gave me priceless advice what can be done to bring Aniello Ceretto to some kind of justice. Unfortunately, I did not sign a substitution of attorney form and did not fire Mr. Ceretto at the moment and let him continue to harm and humiliate me for another 6 months and paid him additional 1,750 for exactly that. I finally get rid of him early this month and first think contacted Jordan again. He called me back in a couple of days and gave priceless legal advice. I highly recommend this lawyer. He is very detail oriented; fare, very knowledgeable in all aspects of law and specific details applicable only in NJ. If you want to represented by somebody with honor and integrity you are making an excellent choice.

I was referred to Mr. Hunter through a lawyer referral system which earned me $50 for a half hour consultation. I brought him a licensing contract and a few questions I had about it. As an entertainer, being asked to sign a contract from LA, one must always be skeptic. Mr. Hunter carefully looked over it, answered my questions very clearly, and told me exactly what I needed to know. He was extremely professional, friendly, and polite. I walked out of his office feeling much better about signing the contract and even better knowing, if I had a problem for any reason during the term, I could hire him as my Intellectual Property Attorney and be protected. I believe Mr Hunter truly likes his work and went the extra mile to do a complete and proper evaluation of the legal risk as it pertains to my rights bound to the term of the contract. I respect his practice and would highly recommend him.

My mother referred me to Robin, she used her for her divorce 15 years ago which like mine was messy and difficult. I saw first hand 15 years ago how much she helped out my mother. When I finally had the courage to go through with my own divorce I had no doubt in my mind who to choose as my attorney. Robin! From our first meeting all the way through to the final stages Robin has been there for me and on point with everything. I developed a sense of security with her, she was always professional but had a way of talking to you as a person and not just a client. She always calmed me down. Every time I would speak to her, she would bring me right back to reality. She is factual, smart and gets the job done! She is always responsive, realistic, extremely thorough, took time to explain everything to me, honest and by far the hardest working attorney. She will fight for you and has your back. My divorce was the hardest thing I ever experience but because of Robin it went smooth and I am beyond happy how everything turned out. Robin's legal assistant JoAnn was so friendly and helpful as well. I will forever be grateful for her. Thank you Robin!

I was referred to Robin by a friend when I needed to get divorced. She helped me throughout the process of my divorce. She explained everything clearly and honestly during it's entirety, sometimes explaining things twice considering I had never been in that situation before. She was patient with my inquiries, gave solid advice on paperwork required, and represented me with strength and knowledge. I am so pleased that I chose her as my representation. She got me a fair settlement that I am extremely happy with.

Ms. Schwartz represented me in a personal matter. I sought her counsel as the attorney I had retained was not responsive and did not seem to have my best interests at heart. Conversely, Ms. Schwartz quickly and thoroughly responded to my calls and emails, provided excellent and realistic legal counsel, and was able to finalize my case in less than two months.

I was faced with a complex litigation involving a multitude of defendants. It was an intricate real estate matter that had many moving parts and a complicated fact pattern. I began using Jennifer Alexander a number of years ago for Roseland Management (now Mack Cali), and then for The Bozzuto Group, for Landlord/Tenant issues. She has always been honest, succinct, detail oriented and timely. I was pleased to introduce her to colleagues within other companies, who also chose to utilize her legal services. Additionally, I have used Ms. Alexander for residential real estate title work, small claims court issues, and forming an LLC. She again proved herself to be trustworthy, strategic, knowledgeable and primarily professional. When I require the use of an attorney, Jennifer Alexander is the one I look to.

The entire law firm is reminiscent of "used car salesmen". Jennifer Alexander is an extremely emotionally abusive "attorney" and is very dangerous. She does not believe that rules apply to her and her clients. She knowingly and willingly has discriminated, inflicted severe emotional distress, engaged in extreme manipulation and is a liability to her clients. She has purposely retaliated even though it WILL cause her clients serious liability. She issued me a "notice to cease" based on outrageously false claims then blocked me. Her client will have to pay for her actions, and she does not care. It's quite disgusting and disturbing because she will do ANYTHING to victimize someone rather than advising her client to do what's morally right. SHE IS A LIABILITY. I have been emotionally paralyzed by her abuse and she refuses to stop. I decided to stop giving her the power to affect my life and move forward with healing and getting justice. She is the definition of ineffective counsel and a person who is an abuse of power. Most of her correspondences towards tribunal start with "as you know" to demean and manipulate her victim. I will make it my life's mission to make sure she is held accountable for her actions. I almost committed suicide due to her pervasive intentional infliction of emotional distress and I will take this to the highest level to make sure no one else has to suffer from her abuse of power again.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
