Robert Solomon provided outstanding service as my patent attorney. He was understanding and very considerate. He took his time to make sure I fully understood. And made sure he was available to walk me through the areas where I needed more assistance. He kept me fully informed on a daily basis. And went above and beyond my expectation. It was a great pleasure working with Robert and I am looking forward to future projects.

I called Mr. Scheetz to handle an issue with my insurance provider. I had tried for a couple months to resolve my issue. In one phone call Mr. Scheetz was able to have my claim approved and I received my first payment approximately one week later. In addition to his professionalism he’s a great guy to have on your team.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Jacklyn and Michelle. Trust me…if there is anyone on this earth you should get a referral from- it’s me. My son’s father (who is an abusive psychopath, sociopath, narcissistic loser with multiple criminal charges against him) has been taking me to court multiple times a year since my son was 3. My son is now 17 and currently does not have any relationship or contact with his father, but in the past years he would manipulate my son into doing whatever he wanted because my son deeply feared him. His father sleeps with his lawyer so he gets free representation and has been doing so for the past 15 years. Meanwhile- I have drained all of my own and all of my families resources paying for lawyers and psychologists- doing anything I could to prevent my son’s abusive father from harming him. I’ve had a total of 8 lawyers. No one could handle my case. It was too much work and his father was relentless. Jacklyn and Michelle truly cared about me and my son. They put their everything into doing whatever they could to help me. They didn’t sugar coat anything- gave full transparency- made no broken promises- they were there whenever you needed them- and finally made me feel like someone was fighting for me. I can’t express in words my gratitude for Jacklyn Black and Michelle Grasso. All you need to know is that hiring these beautiful, strong, courageous, and smart women will not be a mistake. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Michelle is very caring and knowledgeable. She worked hard to do what I asked and her fees were very reasonable. She is an attorney that cares about what’s best for families and children. She is honest and fair. I would highly recommend Michelle for your family law services. She stood up for what’s right and worked hard to get me the results I wanted.

In the middle of a very contentious custody battle, the biggest regret I have is employing Michelle’s services. She doesn’t care about anyone but herself and deliberately misled me on the initial custody agreement to drag out a messy litigation that would only serve to benefit her pockets.

Handled a very difficult child support case, also handled me when animated. Refocused on objectives, explained the strategy. Brought it home, just as explained.

Ian actually listens, understands, and is able to succinctly summarize and grasp what others can't no matter how many times you say it or in how many different ways. Ian helped me feel relief I cannot put into words, and to breathe not only a deep sigh of it but much more easily than I have in years! I will forever be grateful to Ian and admit this type of counsellor is better than the 1 with 1 l.... Why I was changing my profession. To heal, often people just need to feel heard, receive justice, so they can move on with their lives and have closure. Lawyers like Ian can help real healing begin.

I am very pleased with Ian. I hired him to help me with a matter and he is still working on it right now. He always encourages his clients to stay calm we got this. He makes me feel at ease even though I want to bug him all the time but I also know he has other clients. Don't always give into what others experience each case is different. He goes into detail of what he is doing and how it is going to happen. This is the second time I am using him.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
