I had a difficult case which was crucial for me to win. I called several great attorneys and Murray was the one who gave me the right information and did not sugar coat it. He was honest and responsive. He won my case for me. I have dealt with plenty of attorneys as I went through a rough divorce. Murray hands down has been the best experience.

Murray helped my husband & I in a rough custody battle. He is a wonderful attorney & we could not have gone through this without him! He knows what he’s doing & can make the best plans to help the needs of you or your family. He genuinely cares about who he is helping & puts his all into what he does. He’s honest, straight forward, & kind. The good person he is radiates off of him & I would recommend him to anyone. Anyone who comes to Murray for help will definitely not be disappointed.

i called steven for a free consultation. i had given him info. stating my case is in st. clair county (which he doesn't cover). also, that it was a MI estate connected to a NC estate. A high percent of lawyers speedily got me off the phone when they heard NC. they just said we don't do NC law. he did not do that to me. the other lawyers didn't let me tell my story. he let me tell my full story. i knew things were done wrong in MI. thus, i do need a MI lawyer. also, he let me have a free IN PERSON consultation. it's very rare to get a free in person consultation. which, of course, is the VERY best method. prior to my consultation my voice mail (unknowingly) wasn't working correctly. he had called me back two days in a row. on the 3rd day i was home. he never mentioned the voice mails (many law firms would of been irritated). he wasn't condescending, pretentious, etc. He was easy going, etc. He has many great traits. I had contacted MANY attorneys. I was SHOCKED that steven had those great traits (traits i already mentioned. plus a lot more great traits). a super high percent of lawyers are not nice, etc. He figured out the issue in less than 10 minutes. unlike all the other attorneys. the issue was easy to understand. He didn't rush me in the meeting. he let me stay a long time. i stayed until he covered all my questions. etc. He was patient with me. he let me ask a lot of questions. he explained things well and in layman's terms. he told me something i could do a bought the matter. NO OTHER attorney gave me his option. please recall i contacted MANY attorneys. he gave me the option because he wanted to help me. unlike the other attorneys. he told me i could do stuff on my own. he gave me the exact wording of the forms. told me i could do it online (not contact the court). he could of referred me to a buddy. a buddy that would rip me off. many attorneys do the buddy referral attorney that rips off people. i already had that happen to me. i've lost $1,500.00 because of my bad attorney. my bad attorney could NOT do what i needed. it was legally not an option (my bad atty knew it wasn't an option). probate matter - my sister hired a probate attorney (that i'm forced to pay half the bill - so i LOSE more money). 2 hired attorneys made the same "mistake" (me saying mistake - not steven). steven didn't make excuses for those attorneys mistakes. i hate attorneys making excuses for other attorneys mistakes. i'm currently seeking help because of my rip off/bad attorney. ANYWAY, steven was great to me. i would of hired him. Problem is he is not located in the probate matter county. i thanked steven a lot in person. he acknowledged my thanks in a cheerful manner. he laughed and told me to quit thanking him.

I hired Steve Robinson 10 years ago for a divorce and a assault case. He was a fabulous attorney. I hired him last November 2019 to get a felony expunged from 1986. When I paid him his retainer he said it would take 2months. Nothing was even filled in January 2020. So I asked for money back we spoke he apologized said he would get right on it and I would not have to pay the balance because of the inconvenience. Come the end of February I found out. O thing had been filled I asked what I needed to do to get this thing moving. He said pay me the balance of my fee. No problem gave him a credit card immediately. To cut the story short he did not file till July 2020 had zoom hearing October 2020. Felony set aside but no gun rights restored some paperwork that needs to be finished and I can not get a return call as usual.

I'd like to begin by saying that my review isn't based on the ultimate court ruling for my particular case, but it's my review of Steve Robinson as a professional attorney. I was referred to Steve by a mutual friend. Upon first meeting with Steve, he was pleasant and straight forward about my particular case (DUI) and what he would try to do about it. He was very convincing that he'd be of service so I paid to retain him. Right from the start I began to have my doubts. Steve was incredibly difficult to get a hold of on even the most basic things. I understand attorneys can be busy, but he'd constantly say he would "check into something" and I wouldn't hear back from him. He was late to my first scheduled pre-trial, and didn't even have my file on him when he arrived. Fast forward three long months of ignored phone calls, text messages and e-mails, I'm incredibly frustrated with my experience. One particular stint had me attempting to reach Steve twice a day (between call, text or e-mail) for 10-days on time sensitive material, which was no longer relevant by the time he responded. I don't expect a speedy response in a profession as busy as this, but even a slight bit of acknowledgment would've gone a long way. Often the only time I would be contacted by Steve was the evening before my court date as he was scrambling to get stuff together. Ultimately my frustrations in dealing with Steve Robinson as an attorney are due to the lack of effort I feel he put into my case and handling me as a client. The only thing that came of hiring Steve was his continual stalling of my case while he "checked on things". At the end of the day, I faced the same charges and same sentencing repercussions as if I would've plead guilty day one, but I'd had the cost and headache of trying to get my attorney to just try and do ANYTHING for my case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

  1. Verify Their License:

Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.

  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
