David was very kind along with being very professional in helping me with my car wreck. He gave me personal attention and took the time to get me the best outcome rather than rushing to get me a quick settlement. He was recommended to me over going to a big firm and I am so grateful for the advice.

Mr Bennett is a very kind and caring attorney. I feel quite lucky to have had him to represent me in my personal injury case. He is quite knowledgeable and highly professional. I was amazed how he wasn't afraid to fight for me with the insurance company . I received a very fair settlement. I will definitely recommend him to my friends and family.

I went to Chris Townley. I have always heard he was good. He took my case and had Mr Lindsay work on my case. I figured it was an easy case. I was hit by a truck. I was going down 27Hwy. A five lane road. The area I was in was straight and flat for more than a mile. No reason for the man who hit me not to see me. I just wanted physical therapy for my back. Mr Lindsay said I needed to make a bill and then try to get them to pay it. Which makes no sense to me and besides who would agree to let me come and not pay. I barely got my anything. I still get bills for the ambulance. I am in pain everyday still. Thanks to Farm Bureau not wanting to pay and Mr Lindsay doing nothing my life is gone. I dont have the energy to do anything even if I could get past the pain. And I did nothing wrong.

I rarely give a rating of five stars, but Mr. Lindsay has earned that and so much more! He went above and beyond in my divorce/child support case. He was very dedicated and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. The end result would have been much less desirable had I not chosen him as my lawyer! His expertise brought about the absolute BEST outcome possible, even better than I had hoped for. Mr. Lindsay is an excellent lawyer, and he does his job fantastically well. He definitely knows the right/best way to go about these cases. I recommend him 100%, and I would not hesitate one second to hire him again in the future.

I would highly recommend Mr. Lindsay. Both he and his staff offered excellent advice, answered all of my calls and questions in a very timely way, and, eventually, helped to get me a very favorable settlement without having to go to court. I was pleased with their skill and customer service. I am so happy that I decided to use them and would use Mr. Lindsay again in the future without hesitation.

If you are a woman, run the other way. My friend was cheated out of at least $200,000 because it was worded wrong in favor of her X. Once it’s done, it’s done. I’d give 0 stars if I could. Went back to see him after and paid for the meeting to understand what happened. He left the meeting to research it for about 30 minutes. Came back and Said it needed more research and he would get back to her. NEVER called her and NEVER answered her calls. No letter, no nothing.

I went to see Mr. Willard regarding a legal matter and to possibly retain him. I have been to his office a few times prior to this and talked to his paralegals which where very nice and informative. They gave me legal information pertaining to Georgia law. The information was very helpful but at this point I believed I needed to retain Mr Willard. I set up a appointment and I went and tried to discuss the case I had already started at magistrate court. I let him know that I started the first part because his paralegals and Mrs Fiddle advised me that the magistrate court was user friendly and they would help me at the courts, they also advised me on how I should complete the eviction process. I discussed this with Mr Willard and he pretty much called me a liar and said his paralegals would have never given me any legal information. He stormed out of his office and went to interrogate his paralegals and Mrs Fiddler who did say they told me I could handle the matter on my own or they could if it came down to that. I was never there to argue, but Mr Willard started to become very argumentative and acted upset when I was only explaining where I was in the process and to see if I needed to retain a lawyer. Needless to say the conversation seemed to have headed to a hostile situation and he opened the door for me to leave. I have never dealt with a lawyer who acted the way he done. Not professional at all and my business will definitely not go to him anymore.

My daughter was divorcing a very abusive and manipulative man, First we hired a lawyer that basically held her hand and said things like "it will be ok" "these things happens during a divorce" " lots of men act like this during a divorce". WRONG things got much worse and we were scared for my daughter's and grandchildren's safety. We met with Mr. Willard discussed our case and fired the first lawyer. Mr. Willard filed court orders and very soon the threats, fear and bullying soon stopped, of course this cost us several thousands dollars and the divorce took 2 years, but we dealt with a horrible man during a horrible divorce and now my daughter and grandchildren have a much better life. My daughter has sole legal custody and full physical custody of the children and yes the children are involved with their dad (he has limited visitation, but is working hard to maintain a relationship with the kids) Thanks to Mr. Willard, his legal team and the courts we all feel safe again. We felt so secure and confident in him, we have kept him on a retainer fee, just in case my family needs him for anything in the future.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
