I hired Mr. Baruch to represent me on an appeal and he is an exceptional attorney. Mr. Baruch kept me informed about the process and what he was doing on my behalf. I would hire him again and would recommend him to any of my friends in need of an attorney.

At a time that i was lost in a sea of confusion and emotional pain over the sudden death of my ex wife and the loss of our daughter to the family courts for "best Interest" as i would move her away from school and friends to live with me in Florida, our daughter was placed with a man not her father who not only has a record for violence on my ex wife but also a record for neglect/abuse on this very child. It was at this time that a friend who knew what i was going through and how many attorneys had been involved recommended Mr Baruch. It was a breath of fresh air as i was beginning to think very poor thoughts about the whole legal system here was a man with ethics and obvious legal knowledge-he made no promises and only spoke to the facts of the case, his empathy for his clients shows through in every phone call and message- all done with a steel like determination to do the right thing. I know from my experience that in Mr Baruch I finally have a counselor that will fight to the end for my families right to be together in peace .

Mrs.Warner did a wonderful job in the handling of my divorce. She always listened to my thoughts and helped me through the process. The whole process was quick and more affordable than I expected. Her office runs smooth and efficiently and they always returned my calls and emails right away. I would highly recommend Mrs. Warner to anyone seeking legal services.

Hindsight is 20/20 and to this day I regret meeting this awful animal. I was referred to a specific attorney and the attorney I was referred to referred me to this awful awful being. When I talked to her on the phone she seemed knowledgeable but when I met her in person at a mall parking lot I wish I had gone with my first instinct when I saw her. She was unorganized and disheveled. This attorney took my money went on vacation and didn’t complete all of the work. In addition what she did complete was full of misspellings and grammatical errors which is inexcusable. Attempting to be fair, I simply requested a refund for the unfinished portion and she went postal started yelling and screaming and tried to say it was my fault she didn’t finish. Very unprofessional and I regret that I didn’t stick with my gut.

Wynthia J. Cheatum took my money as well and did not render the services I expected. She has been publicly reprimanded and privately reprimanded by the Texas State Bar. I was unable to get any of my funds back. I definitely would never recommend hiring her.

Although my case is old now, I felt like I had a pretty good one, until I met this woman. I was in a car accident which left me with a fracture in my neck. She was referral and I can't even call her an attorney. To make a long story short I fired her and got another one, she was so upset that she told me I was still going to pay her. All she did for me was come to my home for an interview and again at the hospital to record me via video which I'm sure wasn't for my benefit. She told me it was for training purposes. It wasn't about me and what I was going through but more so what she could get out of it. After, all these years I was happy to see she was reprimanded in 96, that makes me feel good, but sad at the same time knowing she's still allowed to practice law. My prayer for this woman is that she will NEVER treat anyone the way she treated me. Hope, maturity has taught her a lesson before God does.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
