Vincent was the attorney I chose to represent me after consulting with many others, and am very happy I hired him. Others either quoted astronomical prices, or clearly weren't as knowledgeable and/or experienced as he is. Vincent, on the other hand, was exceptional from start to finish. It began the moment I first spoke with him, on our consultation call. He was understanding and empathetic, which helped ease my negative emotions and anxiety stemming from the arrest. Hiring Vincent helped me feel more comfortable, allowing me to transition back to daily life. That meant a lot to me. He then delivered on every step of the way, especially in the courtroom, when he ran circles around the DA (my personal opinion). His charismatic, poised demeanor, combined with his knowledge, was very effective (also my opinion). It was clear that he's one of the top OUI attorneys in the state, and he also got me the best result possible. I would recommend him to anyone in a similar situation as I was. You won't be disappointed. He's a great guy.

Vincent provided my son with an amazing defense. He was meticulous, articulate and empathetic. He developed a relationship with our son and our family and really cared about us and the job he was doing. It is hard to put into words just how diligent he was throughout this case. I would highly recommend him!

Celine handled my claim involving an automobile accident. I wasn't at fault, I was broadsided. I didn't want to deal with an attorney or the insurance company. I had to do this in order to have my medical bills paid and receive a settlement. The main focus was to get my medical bills negotiated and paid. The settlement was not my main focus. Celine explained things clearly to me. I am not used to dealing with attorneys or the business world, but she explained things in a way that made me less nervous and was very clear. I highly recommend her. I hope not to need an attorney for an accident again, but if I do, I will call her quickly.

If you’re looking for an excellent attorney I would highly recommend hiring Bob Guillory. In my opinion he ranks up there with the best of the best! He’s honest, straight forward, always looks out for your best interest, doesn’t take crap or let anyone bully you, I seriously can’t say enough about him. He’s up front about his fees, always mindful of your budget and doesn’t waste your money with unnecessary correspondence or documents. He’s a wonderfully skilled mediator/negotiator and knows precisely when to use those skills. He is confident and kind, truly putting my mind at ease. He was always spot on with his advice. I had complete faith in him, fully trusting his judgement and always knew he had my best interest in mind when making decisions. After a tragic loss I found myself in need of a good attorney and consider myself extremely blessed having found him. I will never consider hiring anyone other than Bob Guillory if the need should ever arise again!

Bob has represented me for about 9 years now, dealing with a malignant narcissist and then helping me through the foreclosure process with a favorable outcome. The ex always tries his best to threaten and intimidate me, but after I sent a quick email or phone call to Bob, and he'd remind me that my ex just liked to blow smoke and enjoyed knowing he had so much control over me. Bob would remind me (repeatedly, because I let me ex rope me in) to ignore the ex and let him handle things. After a brief phone call in these situations, Bob left me seeing the reality of the situation which was never nearly what I was dredging up in my mind. Narcissists love to have control, but my ex NEVER had control over Bob, and was, and still is, terrified whenever Bob is involved in the case. Bob won every single time my ex dragged me into court. He is no-nonsense and does not waste your money by engaging your opponent in debates meant to cause you financial harm. Having him as my attorney was like having a very protective big brother at my side. I wish I could bring him to the next state I am moving to and can only hope that I can find an attorney just like him, but I fear he is one of a kind! I absolutely, 100% recommend that you put your faith and money in this very skilled, confident attorney. I guarantee you won't regret it.

This blang blank blank told me I wasn't going to win my case and can barely even listen to my case. I got ran over and I'm disabled and can't walk and was denied social security. So you don't want to take my case fine. Be it I move on. So we were i find another lawyer. So I did come to find out this one was nothing. I won my case. He didn't want to take my case cuz he said I wasn't going to win in. said rude words. I don't know how you people like him. When he was rude right off the bat didn't give a crap showed it. What kind of lawyer does that? And it's over the phone and you can tell that he's being a d... I'm glad I did not get you because if I got you I probably would not have one because you don't fight. I bet you settle just like Jason laLiberty you settle, poor communication skills and poor poor worth ethic skills. You don't give a crap about the people you give a crap about the money. I could write a novel on how amazing Bre is. They are professional all while balancing a great sense of humor while doing their work. Bre is flexible with styles of communication—emails, calls, in person. The Portland area has itself a gem in the ruff! I never had to meet with an attorney for a personal reason, but have encountered several attorneys when working in my professional capacity and when supporting friends...there is no comparison; Bre is not intimidating or condescending and made me feel like I’ve known them for years. I will absolutely utilize Bre’s services in the future if the need ever arises, and I will recommend them to everyone I know. I enjoyed not feeling rushed out of their office once business was taken care of—it provided an opportunity to learn more about their scope of practice and interests and they listened with so much care and genuineness. Bre is, simply put, a ginormous breath of fresh air.

Bob showed up to court over zoom in his car without any required documentation available, causing additional attorney's fees on both sides, both of which I had to pay, and a disadvantaged situation in court for myself. Bob did very little to aid me or answer questions. During most phone calls he was unsure as to which case he was talking about, multiple times making statements about my case that were not about my case at all. Bob submitted a reply to discovery that I did not approve of which I believe was made with the explicit intent to hurt my case. I asked Bob for a meeting to discuss my case to evaluate if he was fit to represent me. Immediately after asking for a meeting he filed his withdrawal. Bob failed to answer my questions about discovery, preventing me from being aware of what I needed to do, the repercussions, which I asked him about many times, were left unanswered. Bob raked in attorney fees, failed to be available, failed to represent me as required by our agreement, and withdrew from my case abruptly during a crucial time to deliberately effect my case overall. He cost me 10's of thousands of dollars through his failure to represent me properly. His overall demeanor was against my children and family in general and made comments about how "he would never be in my situation" despite my situation being caused by the actions of another person while I took care of my children. He's completely out of touch and cannot relate to his clients, if you're considering hiring him for anything related to family well being, divorce, or anything child related, look elsewhere.

Not family oriented. Bob was the opposing attorney In my divorce. In response to my motion he called me selfish in court document s because I wanted to *gasp* see my own children. Bob concocted this scenario l that I could not see my own children because of the pandemic and seemingly advised my ex wife to not exchange the children if they were coming to their home in MA. Despiite having arrangement for covid testing at Emerson Hospital Urgent Care, Bobs actions resulted in my children not being able to sleep in their own beds here at their house in Massachusetts for approximately 35 days.if you are a dad, caveat emptor. I feel badly for Bob's own kids. Update to Bob's response: the key to the review is that it states I already had arrangements with Emerson Hospital Urgent Care for testing. They could quarantine or provide a negative test. Bobs own email states the same. Do you want this man telling you if you want to see your kids you have to drive to see them in a hotel instead of their own rooms? I stand by my review.

Hand down worst attorney I have ever been appointed. She does not listen to you. She likes to interrupt you when you are speaking. She will advise you to take deals knowing you could win in a trial. Hardly answers the phone or return emails and calls. She is more interested in pleasing the district attorney than winning your case, probably because she used to be one. She does not defend you against the D.A during court and even forgot my name and husbands name. Very short and tries to rush you off the phone. You can practically hear the eye rolling & sighs on her end. Never looked i to my case or discussed my chances at trial. DO NOT HIRE THIS WOMAN. She wants to get you out of her hair asap and make the D.A happy

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
